Hi, i've seen a user on FAC who has copied an image that another artist has done, i'm not sure if its something that needs to be reported because the original picture has been copied and not actually reposted. I have a link to the original and a link to the copy if they are needed.

i don't think its traced because the original and the copy vary in quality, the person copied the same characters, pose and situation from the original artist but didn't credit the original artist

Well, That is what we call a legitimate redraw and permissable, However if you suspect that it is possibly a trace within a reasonable doubt, it can be reported to either Strata or myself and we can investigate it and deturmine for sure wether it is a legitimate redraw or a trace. Worst case scenario it's a false alarm

Actually, "best case" scenario would be the false alarm because there's no actual offense or penalty that we need to carry out. Worst case is where we need to take action and log the offense as possibly habitual behavior.

If there's no direct tracing involved, it's still a case-by-case basis. As a fanart oriented site we cannot and WILL NOT prohibit other people from creating artworks referencing other/previous artists or creations. However we CAN ask that they don't directly edit or trace the original (at least not without specific and cited permission to do so), and we CAN ask that if they're imitating a specific piece that they please cite the original work.

Can you PM me the specific submission URLs?
