a friend said it is...i just wanna know if it's true or not. i know people run around saying sites will close down 24 7 but now i'm not sure cause i haven't heard this before so it might not be a joke. byt still the admins said nothing about it. so i guess it's not true. but i just want to confirm it. so, is FAC standing with one foot in the grave or is it still dancing? |

A hard fact is that from a budget perspective, FAC has been "in the red" for quite some time. We've bounced around the possibility of a closure or even a "reboot", however there is no consensus at this time. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

FAC currently does not receive enough revenue to pay for its own operating expenses. I do not have any specifics on the matter and even if I did you wouldn't be interested in their disclosure.
And coming from a person with a few years both here and on dA, I fail to see any way in which FAC is ultimately "better". Smaller community? You don't deal with the trolls. Better features? Aside form the subject-first gallery organization, none (and I mean absolutely none).
I could go on further, but I won't. Got bigger fish (and a few trolls) to fry. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

deviantArt is ultimately better than FAC because it has more features than FAC has.
dA has a huge pool of users there, large community, and thus, being recognized and getting your art attention is pretty hard. Though my most popular submission has 150+ Faves, I still get more Faves than comments.
The thing about FAC is that it's smaller and thus, you can get recognized faster.
FurAffinity is pretty much like dA, but more oriented at people over 18 due to the adult art. It doesn't really have much customizable features (very similar to FAC), and due to the huge user pool it takes a while to get attention to your art. _________________ o hai guise, I'm totally not Edward. |

also I don't like being called a deviant
ya know I'm willing to make a contribution |

I don't like FAC that much for various reasons, one mainly being most of the people here is like 10 years old and there's rarely any people my age (20) here. _________________ o hai guise, I'm totally not Edward. |

There are also days where I like dA better than FAC simply because I don't have to bear the burden of being a staff member over there. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

um, if he quits, there will be no one left 'cept for denis and battou >.>
and uh, i'm one of those that doesn't want the site to shut down, i DO like it here...... mostly for the previously mentioned reasons, like smaller community and being more easily recognized, but also because i made friends here. i would be SAD if the site shut down.... |

;U You guys talk quite lowly of FAC, even from an administrator's point of view! DA is indeed better in MANY aspects, but it's like you guys have already given up on FAC even getting to the level of Deviant Art. It's a little depressing. There are in fact reasons for liking FAC better than DA. The reasons above are just fine. I found this site first, and I have tons of memories of it. The community is small, which makes it easier to meet friends of your friends. Yes, the work you guys do to make the forums prosper is superior to other forums I've seen. Plus, I like the GIF you guys work with for the favs and scores. Everything is visually user-friendly. <3 It took me a little long to find out how to fav on Deviant Art.
Sorry about the financial trouble. I haven't heard about that! (I give you credit for being able to hold FAC up for this long even with the recent financial trouble)
I wanna know. Who's the boss boss of FAC? I don't want sponsor names. Stratadrake has seemed like the boss boss forever, but I have a feeling he's not. If this site really is at risk of temporarily or even permanently shutting down, I at least want to know the real people behind this site! D; LOL, Berne Convention? |

I honestly didn't join dA or FAC to make friends, I don't give a fucking shit about making friends, I just came to post my artwork and get feedback on it, if I wanted to make friends then that's why I have a Facebook and a MySpace. Didn't know FAC/dA are now social/dating networks.
It took me a little long to find out how to fav on Deviant Art.
LOL, took me five minutes thanks to reading the Help Section.
It took me a little long to find out how to fav on Deviant Art.
ROFLMAO are you fucking kidding me? Took me seconds to figure that shit out.
Big thing that pisses me off about this site is the damn roleplaying. Every profile I go to I see shit like "*touches your lips, kisses your neck, gets a boner*". I don't want to see cybering. If you wanna do that then get AIM or use the fucking PMs. They're called Private Messages for a reason. USE THEM.
Oh, and funny, most of the sexual RPing is coming from Vhee and Doomlord1234. _________________ o hai guise, I'm totally not Edward. |

We have received no reports about Vhee or Doomlord1234's behavior of late. If they are cybering, why is that?

You know the old saying, "familiarity breeds contempt" ?

You may notice that Roleplaying is specifically mentioned in our new site rules. Roleplaying by itself is not a violation (staff opinion was split on this matter), but "cybering" is. We WILL issue suspensions if we see stuff like Cirle's example here, not because it's roleplaying, but because it's a violation of the PG-13 rule. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

I don't actually see stuff like I mentioned but I do see stuff like
*kisses you deeply, gets on top of you and strokes your neck*
It's not sexually explicit but we all know what they're talking about. _________________ o hai guise, I'm totally not Edward. |

Of course I would find people who laughs because I can't find the fav button on DA? Certainly, it' not easy to find EVERY button and interface right away!!! xD *embarrassed*
;U -Facebook and MySpace are definitely not the social sites some people would like to join. I make friends on art communities because we have something in common; I would rather not meet random strangers who hardly have the same interests as me. |

Lucky has a point you know. on here you're bound to find someone that likes the same stuff you do, more easily than on DA because of the smaller community. you're bound to meet people just by looking at pictures or reading comments, even if you don't mean to. Sure, FAC might not be a social networking site, but people can make friends here nonetheless. I know from experience. (and i've only been here a bit over a year!) |
