by stating an impossibility I have negated the existence of this post. This post does not exist because it cannot exist. if it were truly a lie then it would be true which it cannot be because it states that it is a lie.

His nose will grow. The fact that it did not grow "now" means that the statement is a lie, and the nose will then grow, at a time he did not specify. |

The picture of Pinocchio was really more of an illustration of the whole, impossibility negating concept thing, but OK I'll play your game. Pinoch could say that "my nose will grow because I have made this statement", If it doesn't grow it's a lie, if it does it's the truth. Either possibility is contradictory to the fact that if Pinocchio tells a lie his nose will grow, therefore there can be no boy, the impossibility negates the concept. Nit picky about wording much? |

Why does it have to be a lie? Can't he just be wrong? _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

He could just be wrong, although there is no way to know that. Lying is based off of the intent to decieve and I am not pinnochio therefore I have no idea if he is giving this statement to be deliberately incorrect.
lie1
vb lies, lying, lied
1. (intr) to speak untruthfully with intent to mislead or deceive
2. (intr) to convey a false impression or practise deception |
