I have played the first two and damn this one makes them look like barbie race and ride with the intensity of it. I WANT THIS FRACKING GAME! -wail-

And I had a feeling this game was going to have some promise, plus they revamped the weapons, making in one part of the game where you have to use all your weapons to get past the level I believe. (I think the developers heard Tyler when he was mentioning the lack of use of more interesting weapons than the chaos blades =x)
Hell I was hooked during the ending of the second one, AND the trailer, I mean HELLO? -points to signature quote-

Meh. Same combat, which after Bayonetta just months ago, feels incredibly stale.

Dude nothing can top Bayonetta as of yet with that insane combat system. Though it's kinda a step up from the sequal. Hell the minotaurs were more of a pain in the ass in the first game than in the 2nd. Downright fast and ruthless, but in the second they kinda slowed down abit. Same deal with the wraiths.

Wonder what baddies they have up their sleeves in this game, besides the chimeras you see alot of in sneak peaks and playable demos etc.

i love bayanetta but i think the fighting in god of war is so much more satisfying. it might not be as flashy but it FEELS so much better, in bayanetta i seen my character doing cool sh!t, but on GOW3 i feel like im doing all of of the cool sh!t not just watching it.

they both are great games, pinnacles in the genre,
bayanetta in Japaneses game design and god of war in American game design

both have great combat systems but God of wars story is so much more better from a writing and pacing standpoint (plus you can actually follow the story unlike bayanetta)

i love bayanetta but if you compare the whole package God of war 3
is a far better game. to me bayanetta was good because of the combat,
GOW3 is good cause its a complete package(great graphics,combat,story,music,controls.)

Sorry but I am going with SILK on this one.

I dont even HAVE the game, but when I watched the cutscenes that played during the interview with the director of GOW3 during tonight's X play show on G4, I could actually feel Kratos ripping his opponents to shreds and causing fountains of blood to spew forth from their mangled corpses. And in the commercial (Sad but true girl, deal with it@Dear playstation commercial)
you could feel him slamming his blades into the monster steed's head that carried Posideon along on it's back. I really hope my brother gets this and a Ps3 and doesnt wait; cause I know im going to want to be visiting to play it after he beats it. x3

A game that has kick ass graphics, amazing story, and a combat system that is rather managable but sometimes tricky at some points, and makes you feel like you are in the game itself is a game for me.

And I do agree, where as Bayonetta is the heavyweight of the japenese gaming world; God of war 3 is the heavyweight of the american gaming world. (Though some think FFXIII is trying to steal the jap heavyweight title from Bayonetta)

Guitar hero had the same sort of gameplay yet changed itself up every now and then with each new installment. Hell look at GH5. Now that was a overhaul when it came to the menu acess and gaming itself etc. GOW 3 does somewhat look the same when it comes to combat, but it has had some major changes too. I for one think people should pick up the book and read it first before majorly judging it to those who havent played it just yet.

(As in I didnt say Twilight sucked right away til I read it for myself and knew it sucked. Which it did BIG TIME. xP)

Dont mess with Guitar hero or da Grim Ripper will make ya sorreh. >_>

But yeah, im dying to get this game, it even got a platinum award and a 5 out of 5 from playstation magazine. Even if It didnt I would still want it. It's got greek mythology which I love, gore and blood and dismemberment, and a great story plot and badass graphics. Plus the combat system rules IMO. (I prefer RE4s combat system more though)

Sure Kratos isent that much of an interesting character; going from angry to REALLY REALLY angry. But hey, you would too if the guy you worked for tricked you into killing your family, then after killing him then when you want to find eternal rest you get hauled into a job you really dont want, before getting the job taken from ya and then killed infront of your army cause daddy is afraid of you overthrowing him before dragging your butt to an island to turn back time and get revenge on him, only for him to run off when your sister takes the fatel stab for him etc. xP I would be a very angry person too.

As for people whining about his appearence; think of it this way; Kratos could have been some dreadlock jamaican looking spartan or your typical greek looking warrior with a sword and shield.

When it comes down to it, I prefer the Angry mister clean appearence over the others. xP

god of wars combat is similar to the first two but it is polished to perfection.
the controls are spot on, and the game never feels cheap, if you do poorly
its cause of lack of skill unlike many other games.

I agree. They tweaked it out like crazy when it came to the last game, that way it would go out with a big ass bang like it should, leaving you wanting more. xP

The problem with God of War is the combat is about as deep as a kiddy pool.

5 minutes, you can completely master it. No cancels, no dodge storing, no rapid counters, nothing.

God of War games are fun, but they simply can't compare to shit like Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry 3, Bayonetta, and God Hand.

Unless you are judging it by BUT BUT IT LOOKS COOL AND I CAN RIP HELIOS' HEAD OFF

EDIT: WHICH IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU ARE

have you played it yet?(please dont tell me your basing your opinion off the demo)
cause GOD3 has a Dodge move, counter/parry move, and a pull maneuver too

are you basing your opinion on the older games(GOW1&2)
GOD3 is constantly rewards you with new items and new moves that
change up gameplay. i just dont see how you can call DOW3 combat shallow.

i loved all the games you mention, but really they are all rip offs of the combat style started with the first DMC.
yeah GOW3 combat is similar to the first two but hell all them other games are similar to DMC.

god hand was fun but i really dont think it even remotely holds up to GOW3 or bayanetta.

at the end off the day its really all about personal preference and you seem to favor the japanese style of beat em up witch is fine cause all the one you
mention were great games that i to love. but god of wars combat is not shallow or cheap and easily holds up to them games.

and this has nothing to do wit ripping off helios head cause if you play the
game you will see he does way cooler shit than that.
(cutting off hermes legs was much cooler, trust mes the helios head thing
is nothing compared to some of the other things you will do)

EDIT
plus by his very nature, kratos is not really a dodge kinda guy.
hes more like a force of nature that just rolls over you.
i mean look at all the scars on him, to me kratos mindset is more
"i will take some hits cause when i get to you im gonna tear you in half"
so kratos dodging moves and whipping around would not be really true to
his character.

YES thank you someone actually proving a good point that GOW3 is kick ass! x3 I honestly couldnt have said it better myself hehe. x3

And about the brute force fighting style, that is a damn good point (Also it would look weird for him hopping around and dodging, he's built to kick ass; not prance around. Bayonetta is more of the kick ass limber yoga type.), kinda reminded me of what Kratos said in the 2nd and then the 3rd game. "You still have a sword? Then fight! Spartans never surrender no matter what!" "Come out and fight Posiden! A true warrior never hides!" (Or something like that, been awhile since I saw that GOW3 interview with the director.)

Yeah Kratos, by just looking at him you can TELL he isent the kind to jump and dodge around like Bayonetta, he prefers the ol fashion 'take every hit thrown at em and then throw it back twenty fold in his opponent's faces.' type of fighting. I thought ol Kain of the blood omen series was badass; but Kratos makes him look like a joke. xD
(I also liked that when Kratos recieved the stab wound in his abdomen; a parting gift from Zeus, that the scar from it remained there and didnt suddenly vanish like when other VG characters get wounded in a cutscene before the scar or wound itself is gone in the next big scene etc.)

Hey how do ya finish off Aphrodite? I am curious about that fight. xP
