How did you manage to do that?

Of course reinstall is the best option. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

Reinstall is out of the question, I snapped at MS's support for trying to tell me that was the only thing I could do. I also snapped at a senior member of a Tech support site for trying that too. You remember the risky stunt I was forced to pull to get my film scanner up and running, had something to do with installing from a broken CD. this is a minor nuisance that effects only two programs, Activate Windows and YIM.

After biting their heads off some thinking go done and it looks like it's related to a mixed signal between IE6 and IE8 and/or WMP7 and WMP11. After the correlation between the activate Windows and an existing IE8 was noted by a different tech support person. That reminded me of something I read on MS's site about IE8 and WMP11 causing this kind of issue, then I remembered that just before this happened I got pissed at the computer for asking me to install WMP7 despite my having had WMP11 and I installed WMP7 the day this started.

Now I am looking into removing the traces of WMP11 and/or installing a new copy of WMP11. If that does not work, I'll have to figure out something else. _________________ RPG-n.
