One of the things that make up an anime is its scenery! No, it's true. Without that, where would anime be?! Anyways, please discuss. What backgrounds in anime are your favourite? Mine are...

Sakura Taisen: The hill that overlooks the capital, and the various innards of the main building of the Imperial Floral Assault Unit.

Gunbuster: Most of the space scenes, as well as inside of the ship called Excellion.

Legend of the 4 Kings: The four brother's house and various bits of scenery that I can't remember well, or can't explain, but they look pretty. Also, Gozen's mansion scenery (yes, he is a villain, but... villains have style, I guess).

Ghost Hunt: Some kind of cliff scene with a cave at the bottom in the later episodes. Outside a children's home which is a kind of a church type scene.

Akira: The various city scapes seen at different angles. I just had to include the anime that started me off into liking the stuff.

3x3 Eyes: The ruins at the later episodes were so atmospheric...

Odin: Photon Space Sailor Starlight: Wormhole scenes, innards of the Starlight itself, the alien's main fortress.

The backgrounds in the various works by Makoto Shinkai are all pretty impressive.

Kanon (2006) has lots of nice stuff too, the ending video for one.

Yes, denis, I can see that Makoto Shinkai has some good backgrounds and I think I can see why you like them- they're full of detail and realism. Also, the Kanon vid in the link looked interesting. Thanks for your input in this discussion. I've never seen the works of Shinkai or Kanon anime, though... just saw the pics in the first link.

Hmmm lets seeeeeeee

Well I love the backround scenery for almost all of the Inuyasha endings.

However the scene I love the most is an actual anime scene in the show where that dragon was sealed away by Inu and Sessh's father.

In Trinity blood...well all the backrounds, but the most epic was the scenery for Abel's funeral arrangement.

For FMA, I'd have to say Xerxes and Central. xP
