I'm not sure..persay, but this dragon painting strikes me as odd.

I've seen it before on a cover to the book in the library I go to; so that's how I noticed the picture right away.

Now i'm not sure if it's a very good look-alike..or painted over.
So I'll let you guys decide.

The original dragon cover:

The artist rendering:

Was the artist rendering that exact size you have given?

From what I can make out in the rendered picture, I kind of think most of this picture is made from the original as simply a reference. Looking at small details, the rocks details and shapes are off in addition to the level of detail. The thing he has got right is the similar colors for the lava and dragon.

*squints* I do not think he traced, but I want that rendered picture to be bigger, dang it!

yes that was the exact size of the artist rendering alas. Sad

And I can see the same thing too. Some things are off, and others are rather well spot on. But I dont really know myself so I tossed it to you guys for help. xx

PM me the link of the picture. I want to read the artist's description/profile/etc. to find suspicion.

In my opinion, this picture looks genuinely shaded enough to make it look like he drew the picture himself with reference rather than traced it. However, I will make sure.

Notice that only the subtle details are any different - every sharp detail, every line, every highlight, every texture is in the exact place of the original, as if they merely ran the original through a selective-blur filter in Photoshop.

Houston, we have a verdict: The underlying composition is a 100% match. If this is an FAC submission, PM me the URL and I will slay those wannabe dragonslayers.

The ceiling detail threw me off the most. But yeah I noticed the positions and everything seemed to match. xP
