I remember when I decided to do chorus in 9th grade. Though I only got up at 6:30AM as opposed to 7:30, it just made me feel good to be the only person up in the morning. I didn't have depression that year.
But all the years I got up later, I was depressed.
I think it might have something to do with a sense of accomplishment.
I was also a lot healthier, I didn't get my 7-8 hours of sleep because I usually slept at 1 or 3 am but I felt a lot better. |

Biologically, no. You will eventually feel the consequences of lack of adequate sleep in everything you do (tired, clumsy, cannot concentrate) if you continued that routine.
Psychologically, you may have connected your lack of depression that year with your small hours.
I do know that sometimes when you have sleepless nights and then go through the day, your body may give some small boosts of energy (psychologically too) to get you through the day. After a while, you really do burn out. _________________ “Far better is it to dare mighty things, to win glorious triumphs, even though checked by failure...than to rank with those poor spirits who neither enjoy much nor suffer much, because they live in a gray twilight that knows not victory nor defeat.” ~Theodore Roosevelt |

Oh I suppose because my first day of 9th grade I didn't sleep the night before, and I was ecstatic.
But as for the question, has anybody felt better from being an early bird? |

When I was younger, one had to use nothing short of a freon horn to wake me up in the morning...Very late for school, very often...
Work, and having to check my blood sugar level, as well as insulin injection @ breakfast time forces me to get up early now... |

Depends on how well I slept the night before, and what I'm doing with my time when I get up. |
