Basically, a Poetry Tag is a game where people write a poem spur-of-the-moment on a given topic, and then leave a new topic for the next player. It doesn't need to be hard, it can be anything from some attempt at a great epic, to a single rhymed couplet. It's just a chance for folks to play with writing. Anybody want to join me?

Summer Days

Of a Boy Kissing a Girl
That girl blows a flower
into his face
giggling
smiling
drinking aloe by the river
hugging
dancing
eating bread on the stairs
loving
hating
having arguments about the weather
Summer Days
Summers Days
I am Hungry

Apothecaries

Herbs, powders, mortar, pestle,
Quiet room, street's bustle,
Dusty shelves, glass bottles,
Small pills, bitter water,
Old face and steady hand,
Seeking healing for the land.

(or something like that)

Dark Star:

Dark star, tell me how
hidden against the black sky
Still shines in my heart.

Spider:

Creeping thing
On my wall,
Never fearing
You might fall;
Is it a cliff
Of stone for you?
Are bedsheets
A desert
For you to trudge through?
I might be startled
If you took
A flying leap
Into my book.

Ugly, monstrous, daft, brute.
Poor misunderstood creature.
Forever judged.

Human promised rabbit everyday
I won''t eat you
I won't eat you
I won't eat you my small little pea
I won't eat you my little tease
You adorable rabbit
I won't eat your hind legs
And cook your head
And taste you with a pinch of salt
The human broke his promise
And thought that betraying
rabbits
birds
cats
dogs
pigs
children
okay

I'm Okay

I am neutral, not in fright.
I am fine, not alright
I am happy but not joyous
I'm aware, but not jealous.
I am neutral, just appeased.
I'm not angry, but not pleased
In the middle, not the end
mediocre Is my friend
I am neutral, you could say
I'm not biased, I'm okay.

One hundred one partners invite me to dances—
Some bearing roses and some bearing lances—
Some made of words all inky and crinkled—
Some made of paints in rainbow mingled.
They freeze when I turn away, no longer so lithe.
When my eyes shine in answer they all come alive.

a cuppa tea is not my cup o'tea
water straight from the tap
better suits my need.

I am waiting while the world is brittle, dry, and cold.
I am waiting while the year is born, when time is new-once-old.
I am watching the brown and yellow frost-spangled grass,
And the pale breath of morning air,
And Jack's white spirals on window-glass.
Only this much longer will the wind be so cold,
The trees bent and barren,
Flowers hidden in the mould.
I am waiting with my sisters for the young birds to sing,
And the first yellow jasmine's bud among the fragile green.

sometimes I want to burn the house down and start over,

firelight waivers warm, it soften everything
the room around me melts to glowing shadows
and my frozen heart
pools slowly back
into serenity

ashes
of long past tragedies the pioneers might have used
to make soap

hot coals for marshmallows melting crisply with childhood memories of loss and fish

old charcoals for drawing messy things, in high contrast

and that risk of being burned which gives life
to life.

regretfully
I light a candle to keep my self destruction small
and only dream of the phoenix fire

for now.

Eternity is waiting,
