Rules:

1. No one liners. I need something to work with, your surroundings, your attitude, etc. Interact with ALL the characters where appicable or at least notice their behavior.
2. Keep it PG-13. I don't need some innocent little kid coming across this and being scarred for life.
3. Keep conflict to in character. Your CHARACTER can insult another CHARACTER, but do NOT insult a fellow RPER!
4. No metagaming/godmodding. Your character is not all powerful. Yon cannot dodge every attack, auto-hit, or one hit kill.
5. All OOC should be in double parentheses ((like this))
6. If you don't post for 48 hours, I will take your character on as an NPC. Your character, however will be yours again upon your return.
7. No Character Sheets or first person. I want your character slowly revealed as if reading a book.
8. Thought should be italic and speech in quotes. If you don't know how to italicize you put [i ]This[/i ] but without the spaces.
9. No using pictures to describe a character/place/object. Describe it.

Dragons were once one of the thriving and powerful species. However, the other races turned against them, calling them evil. They were forced to flee, leaving behind in every race those of dragon blood. Those born with the gift had natural ability with magic. Using their natural powers, they soon made their way to the top, becoming kings and queens, lords and ladies. However, like everything that too came to an end. The Dragonbloods were overthrown by rebels and almost wiped out.

Now these once powerful beings have sunk to the bottom, owned by relentless slave owners. The slave trade is on. Prized for their power and exotic beauty, the market is thriving. However, rumor of rebellion and a savior are spreading...

A man stood on a stage, his black hair was slicked back and his eyes were a dull grey. On the stage with him were many different men and women tied at the feet and wrists, their beauty much exceeding the black-haired man. As the man began to speak, another man came up and pulled one of the women forward. She had silver hair with purple at the tips. Her skin was a pure white and her ears came to a majestic point. Hate shone in her electric blue eyes. She was as tall as the man that held her.

The black haired man announced the girl. "Now this one is fresh to the market. She was just picked up from the desert and brought here just for you guys. Now, shall we start the bidding at 500 shillings? Do I hear 500?"

A man raised his hand in the crowd.

"Do I hear 1000?"

Another man raised his hand.

"1500?"

Another hand.

"2000?"
"3000?"
"4000 shillings!?"
Hand after hand flew up then a man from the crowd yelled out, "10,000 SHILLINGs!"

The auctioneers mouth dropped as he said. "Do I hear 10,500? Going once, twice, sold for 10,000 shillings!"

The girl was escorted away as the bidder came up to the side of the stage.

"Now my little pretty. You'll love it with me. You'll be of much help and pleasure to me and my boys." He laughed, his breath smelling of three day old onion. The girl turned away. The bidder went up to her and grabbed her chin. "Now, don't be that way." She stared him dead in the eyes. "Now I don't like that look on your face sweetheart." He got his head closer to hers. Then he was on her. His lips touched hers. She swore she could taste his entire diet. Then he groped her chest and the men in the crowd whooped and hollered. The girl's eyes were set ablaze as the man's arm began to freeze. The buyer stepped back. "Looks like this one still has some fire in her. Don't worry, we'll fix that." And with that, he left the auction with his prize.

“Should get to the city before midday.” A few grunts passed between several men over the metallic clink of chain. Avlia kept her deep purple eyes forward, watching the road as it crested a distant hill, three men walked vanguard in front of the caravan too busy talking to be of any use should there be any danger. Not that she had any desire to correct them. The shackle bit into her right wrist, pushed much too tight, out of spite she was sure.

Her rough spun shirt scratched against her skin, a cheap and useless material. A coarse cut from the collar of her shirt and reached partway down her chest, as the man who did it said ‘to help show off her more appealing aspects.’ She had also heard talk of her getting passed around the caravan, ‘damaged good wasn’t going to pull in much anyway.’ She unconsciously flexed her left hand, nothing had come of that talk and she was sure she knew why. Her eyes shifted left.

Scarcely two feet away a pale man walked keeping step with her. A scrawny man with dull brown eyes and black hair cut short, . He walked with a heavy limp favoring his right leg, his left heel drug slightly with each step. Squeezing her left hand closed Alvia looked back forward. The wind caught long strands of her platinum hair, she raised and lowered her left shoulder several times. She cringed as scar tissue pulled uncomfortably but she continued to move her shoulder to keep it loose.

The three acting as vanguard waited on hill for the remainder of the caravan to catch up, a low murmur started between the slavers as they planned what they would do when they reached the city.

The man's house was huge, obviously the home of an extremely successful merchant. "Escort the fresh meat to her chambers." He showed his disgusting smile.

As the buyer left his men smiled wider. "That's right little missy, come with us to your new home." On of them said shoving her forward. "And don't try anything like at that little charade at the auction. You were lucky the boss was feeling generous today." They arrived at a house, if it could even be called that, with vines growing all around. The stone was chipped in places and it appeared as though it had once been a nice place to live, but lack of care had taken it's toll. The goons opened the cracked, wooden door with an eerie squeal and forced the girl into it. They slammed the door after her. "We'll be back later." Came the chuckling laughter.

The inside of the building was dimly lit and the floor was moist. Other girls, their exotic beauty partially broken by mistreatment scatted the floor. They whispered among themselves. "Looks like he brought in another one. Poor soul. I remember my first night. It wasn't pretty."

This drove fear into the young girl. What have I gotten myself into? *sigh* just remember why you're doing this in the first place, Kagin. I don't know what you expected this to be like. Just remember, they will pay in time. With that she made her way to an empty bedroll. It was torn in many places and smelled of mold. There wasn't any other choice. "I guess I'll just have to live with it." She said to herself.

Thin crowds parted as the caravan passed down the street. Men pointed and jabbered from sidelines talking about which one they would like to buy. Alvia kept her focus forward, ignoring the people on the side of the street. The guard walking next to her ran a hand over the back of his neck.

“Hey, Yosa!” the man called, one of the three in the front stopped and turned.

“What?” the other guard asked, Alvia clinched her jaw as the other man walked back towards her.

“You’re on night, yeah?”

“Yeah, what of it?” Yosa crossed his arms over his chest.

“I’ll do it, you can take the night off.” The man said, quickly.

“What? Why’d you do that?” Out of the corner of her eye Alvia could see the man’s eyes shift towards her and his head tilt slightly in her direction. A wide smile flashed across Yosa’s lips. “Ah, I knew there was a reason why you-“

“So how about it?” the man cut in.

“Ha, pick up my tab for the night and I’ll switch with you.” He said.

“Deal.” The man said without a moment’s pause.

“Good doin’ business with ya.” Yosa said jogging back up to the front.

The man let out an audible sigh, and his shoulders slumped. “There’s step one.” He mumbled.

One of the girls came up to Kagin. She was of elven decent. "Now, don't listen to them. Not all the girls receive that sort of treatment."

Kagin looked into the girl's golden eyes and saw true compassion.

"I'm Koganebi."

"I'm Kagin. That name means gold beauty, right."

"Yeah, my parents chose it because of my golden eyes."

"Kagin means beauty silver. That's funny how our names are so similar."

"It's cool. By the way, when they come to get you be sure to seem like you're broken. That's how I have survived."

"You're just the type of person I'm going to need." Kagin left it at that and went to sleep.

The sour smell of unwashed bodies hung heavy and low in the air causing Alvia’s nose to crinkle. The floor was built out of uneven stone, cells of thick iron bars lined the walls. Most of the cells they passed were empty, the few occupants there were didn’t bother looking up as the caravan passed through.

“Pretty empty.” A guard to her left said.

“Heard they just had an auction, it’s why they’re paying so much for ours.” One of the three in the front called back.

“Lucky us.” Another one added. Bastards. Alvia thought. Several of the slavers jogged forward and opened the doors to the cages, the guards began to grab the dragonbloods out of the line and force them into the cells. Gingerly the man wrapped his hand around her left wrist, Alvia could barely feel the pressure of his hand and guided her to one of the cells on the end. He opened the door and let her step in, he closed the cell’s door and locked it.

She caught his dull brown eyes and held them for a second before the man looked away and walked back to the main group.
Straw crackled as Alvia sat down on what she supposed was to pass for a bed. A coarse woven sheet tossed over a lumpy pile of straw. Placing her head in her hand she closed her eyes, iron squealed as the other cages were closed.

((If I may, I'll partake. I can't post on weekends though.))

A young man lay on the ground, bleeding from a would to his side. His clothing, decently tailored, was staining red. His bright grey were eyes focused on the evening sky. It was truly a sight to behold for the young man. The reds and oranges and gold were creating quite the panoramic view for him.

To his left there was a hunched over figure that was going through his pockets. The thief was not the one who stabbed the young man on the ground, but he was just as culpable, given that he was doing nothing to help the lad. He turned one yellowed, infected eye towards the twenty year old.

"What kind of cheapskate dunnit even carry a shilling or two for a proper thief to relieve him of?" the man's slight accent was grating against the young man's ears and his gravelly voice sounded like one who had the Black Cough as a child, "Yer clothes ain't even the good stuff," despite this complaint, the thief began to divest him, starting with his brown leather shoes.

"I apologize for my-hrrk- lack of forethought," the young man said, twinging with pain when the thief began to tug at his tunic, "Am I dying?"

The thief didn't even pause in his motions, pulling the young man into a sitting position to better relieve him of his clothing, "Aye, it's a good bet. What's yer name, lad?"

"Ranak," the young man breathed, gritting his the from the pain, "I am Ranak Scarborn, unclaimed son."

The thief paused at the name," And Why did they call a handsome feller like you 'Scarborn'?"

"You will find your answer-huhhk!-soon enough,"Ranak grinned sardonically. The thief gave him a speculative look at that but simply went back to removing his clothing.

He raised a single dirty eyebrow when he finally pulled the dark green tunic off of Ranak and saw the four massive scars going across his chest, “In the name of the Kings of Old, lad, what could have done that to you?” the man was shocked, but moved next onto the bows leather breeches.

“If you-guh- expect a tale of heroism, or perhaps of a young man cro-huhhk! Huhhk!- crossing the wrong man and receiving punishment,” he took a deep breath, “I must disappoint. I am told that my birth was difficult,” he paused to reign in the pain, “In the procedure to remove me from a tool was used. It ended my mother's life and left me these four scars,” he grinned sadly, “I used to pretend they were given to me by one of the dragons of myth.”

Silence answered him as he told his story. He did not know why he told this thief these things. Perhaps it was because his life was coming to a close and he wanted someone to at least remember him. When he had left the orphanage after his fifteen winter there he had dreams of making it big in the capitol. He never made it that far. Instead he was confined to this city due to the cost of travel.

He supposed it wasn't so bad. He made good money from an honest job, delivering things for the Thread Bare Tailor shop on the south end. The kind old man that owned the shop even gave him the decent clothing the thief was taking from him. Heck, there was even a girl he fancied in the Bakery. He knew she was engaged, but he felt no guilt from imagining it was him she was engaged to.

But he had no friends, no person in this city truly marked more than acquaintance or employer. It was for this reason that he said these things to the thief. He had no one else to remember him.

The silence, only now making his notice, the young man looked up to the man that was trying to remove his last article of clothing before he was left in his under clothing, only to find him unmoving.

“Thief?” he questioned gently, hoping not to startle the man.

The thief still did not move. Upon closer inspection, he was not even breathing, yet he remained standing above the lad. Seeing this, Ranak inspected more of the alley he had been taken into. Some height above them, a woman was throwing a bucket of dish water out her window. The water was frozen in its path through the air, as was the annoyed expression on the unmoving woman's face. Even farther up a bird was frozen in mid flight, a sparrow. At the mouth of the alley, the busy city street made no noise, everyone similarly frozen in place.

“What is happening?” Ranak questioned aloud.

Then, as if summoned by his voice, a beautiful woman stepped into his view. She was clearly not human, with her crimson skin and black horns, but she radiated a send of piece to him.

You are dying, he heard her voice, but did not see her lips move.

“Who are you?” he asked, his eyes glazing over as he took in all of her. She was, despite her inhuman appearance, the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen.

I can save you if you wish it, she ignored his question as she kneeled beside his head.

“You would do that for me?”

Not without cost, Scarborn, her lips, painted a bright purple attracted his eyes as they stretched into a smile, showing off inhuman fangs among more human teeth.

“I do not have much. What must I give you?” he asked, telling her honestly the state of his financial affairs.

Only your life, the she-creature placed her claws hands on the side of his head and, the last thing he heard before his world descended into pain was, Your blood, Scarborn, is very special. It is a treasure. Many will try to bind it, bind you and your kin, to their will. But fret you not. There is one coming. This one will bring with them Change. It is then that I shall call upon you. You shall be my advocate, my sword and my shield, during the change. Until then, remember these words and heed them; I have saved your life, therefore you are mine to command. When we speak again, you will call me Lady Ry.

Then his world exploded in white hot agony.

+---

When next Ranak awoke, the pain was gone, leaving only a tingle in his body. Not even the wound in his side was bothering him.

He blinked his eyes open wearily, and realized that he was being dragged somewhere. He was held by the elbows by to Slaver Guards. The brutes were nearly three times his mass, and a third of that seemed to come from their wide bellies from the rich ales they drank.

“Wh-” he coughed for a moment, his mouth painfully dry, before rasping out, “Where are you taking me?”

His answer was a rap to the back of his head and a grunted, “Quiet, Dragonblood!”

Having not the energy to be indignant, the young man instead took note of his condition. He was no longer unclothed, having been given a rough sack cloth to wear, but there was no lingering pain in his side. Even more peculiar, he could feel the ground scraping at his feet, but it seemed as if something was preventing the hard stone floor from scraping off his skin. Had they given him shoes?

Then what the guard said breached his weary mind, “Did you call me Dragonblood?”

Again his was hit, this time more harshly, “Be quiet!” the seconds guard barked, “Or you will be silenced!” Even as he said this, the stopped in front of a small metal cage next to one already occupied by a woman. They opened the door, the rusted hinges squeaking terribly, before bodily throwing him in slamming it shut.

They immediately began to walk away, but there words drifted back to him.

“Lucky break for us, I think, finding an unclaimed Dragonblood like that,” he could hear the cheer in the bulkier guard's voice, “Think the boss will give us a bonus.”

“Aye,” the other man agreed but there was a bit of caution to his voice, “But we'd better hope he's not just some escaped slave. All glowing white like he was, I peg him a healin' type. If he's unclaimed then we've hit the jackpot. If not, it will be us that are next sold to the kings silver mines.”

The bigger man shuddered, then grinned, “Yeh, but just think of the bonus. Keep it in mind, Rory.” He pat the younger man on the back and said, “Come, I will buy the first round.”

Ranak wanted to question this more, wanted to call them back and beg to know what they were talking about, but his weakness was making him lose consciousness. As his eyes finally closed and his head lolled to the side, he did not notice it as the white glow the guards had claimed to see, once more covered him, fixing small imperfections in his body that he had accrued over the years. Finally it came to the four scars on his chest. They healed partly, becoming thinner, but then the light receded as if the scars were deemed off limits from the healing. Ranak would be none the wiser any of these happenings until early the next morning.

((Gah racking my brain for an idea for a chance of interaction.))

The silverette awoke the next morning long before the others. She had too much on her mind to sleep. She lay awake for an hour or so wondering what the day was going to be like and how she was going to rally these broken beings to fight. "Well, you knew it wouldn't be easy, but you have to do it. How did such a mighty race ever fall to such depths?" She thought aloud.

Koganebi woke up next to her. "Now, what are you going on about?"

"Nothing," Kagin answered. Now is not the right time to reveal yourself. That time will come and you will know when it does.

The girls started waking all around her, chattering noisily. Then, all became quiet as the door opened. The merchant came in and walked over to Kagin. "Well now, beautiful, time for your first day. I think I'll let you accompany me to find another specimen. Although, I'm sure none will exceed your beauty." He walked out the door, prompting her to follow. Koganebi leaned over to Kagin. "Don't worry. He does this every time to make us feel disposable. Remember...Act broken."

Kagin smiled and walked to the door where she was escorted to a carriage. "After you, my lady." The merchant said mockingly.

If I wasn't on a mission, you would be so dead right now. She thought.

At the jail Kagin was taken aback. 'How did this happen. They all have such power inside. How did they all get overpowered by such weak beings as humans. I understand the elves because of their use of magic and the dwarves because of their resistance to magic, but how the humans. The blood of dragons must be tainted worse than I originally thought.'

Resting against the bars of her cell Alvia watched the man who just got tossed into the cell next to hers. After his magic seemingly finished its work, there wasn’t much more to watch other than his breathing. Not the most exciting, but it was something to do. She ran her right hand over her eyes, concern about the guard from the caravan who seemed to have been planning something had kept her from a restful sleep. And she had been unable to sleep after the dragonblood was thrown into the cage next to her.

She heard the scrape of the man’s left foot along the ground before she saw him. He stopped outside the door to her cage, he placed his left hand on the bar. She could see the tooth half of the key sticking down from his ring and middle finger in his right hand. He stood still, his dull eyes watching her for several minutes before finally clearing his throat and speaking.

“I have a proposition for you.” He said, silence held between them for a few moments.

“What is it?” Alvia finally asked.

“I let you free.” The guard said.

“What do I do for you?” Alvia asked, the straw bed crunching as she got to her feet.

“Trust me long enough that I can get you out of this city.” He said without a hint of humor.

“What?” She responded, her brow scrunching.

“I let you out of this cage, you allow me to get you out of this city. We get caught, you’re simply a slave I stole. I hang, and you end up back here, you’ve lost nothing but a few days.”

“And why would you do all this?” She stood at the cage’s door.

“Whim.” He said with a small shrug. The man turned suddenly, Alvia heard the footsteps a second later. The man slipped the key to her cell into his pocket before resting his hand on the hilt of his short sword. “Think on it.” He said, starting to walk towards the footsteps.

((Sorry for the over long post. In my experience posts that are too long can be just as annoying as posts that are too short, but Ranak's introduction just kind of... clicked together in my mind.))

Ranak Scarborn was not awake. He knew that he was not awake because of his current location. That being several hundred feet above the Slave Auction stage in the city square. Last he remembered, he had been tossed into a cage by a pair of guards that had called him a DragonBlood. So, it was obviously impossible for him to be standing on air, hundreds of feet up, in white pants.

“Possibility is a mortal perception. I find time wasted on its contemplation,” the seductive voice of the red woman from the alley drew his eyes. She stood there, on the air, her tail, which he hadn't noticed when she first came to him, swishing back and forth behind her. Her sharp fingernails on her left hand rested against her hip.

“I...You...,” Ranak stumbled for words, getting an amused smile and a single raised eyebrow from the woman. He looked several times between her and the ground, still trying to find his voice before he stopped, closed his eyes and took a deep breath. When he opened his bright grey eyes again, he said, “Lady Ry, I am very curious.”

Ry smiled, her fangs showing as she did, “You remember well. Allow me to explain this to you in reward for following my order,” She waved her hand over the seen below them and two things happened, one, the people started moving where previously they had been frozen as in the alley, then, two people began to glow. The first figure was one of the DragonBlood Slaves on stage, with mostly white hair and porcelain skin, she was covered in an electric blue. The next was too far away to make out even the gender, but they were being escorted by a caravan and they glowed a deep purple.

“Who are they?” Ranak asked, watching as the woman with white and purple hair was led off stage to her new owner, a look of disgust on her face when he got close to her.

“I dunno.”

The blunt, rather crudely spoken answer almost startled Ranak.

“Then why did you show them to me?” he asked with a frown.

“A ping,” the demonic looking woman said with a smile.

“A ping?” Ranak lifted one eyebrow.

“Yes, a ping,” Ry told him again, “I have access to you because of the Change to come. You, and they, are not the only ones that will be a major part of what is to come, but certain few of you will register to the senses of my kind. They are pings, and therefore important. To the resonance of my energy,” a black core in a white sphere of light appeared in her right hand, “you are the sound of war trumpets from ten feet away.”

Ranak took a few moments to contemplate that, watching as the one woman was taken away and the purple glowing figure was revealed to be another woman, the DragonBlood in the cage next to him actually, then asked, “Why did you show them to me?”

“After this, we will not speak for a long time, Scarborn. As such, I felt it necessary to give you a hint. So here it is, they are important, find them.”

“One of them sleeps in the cage next to mine,” he told her, looking for the alley he was stabbed in.

“Good, now,” Ry held up her left hand and snapped her fingers. Suddenly, for Ranak alone, the Gravity kicked back in and he fell screaming towards the ground, head first, kicking his legs and flailing his arms.

+---9

“Gah!” At two thirty in the morning, Ranak woke up to pain in his right foot and his left hand as he woke up flailing. The cage was small, truly too small for a human occupant, and he was lucky not to have bolted upright and cracked his head on the roof of the cage.

Kagin had overheard the conversation between the guard, but she knew she couldn't reveal it. He could be an ally. There's really no way of knowing, but it seems he's not a slaver. He could have other plans, but I hope, on my blood, for the best.

She walked after her "master", still bound. I hate being bound up like this. Even worse is I could easily get out, but that would ruin my plans. Ugh..."

Footsteps were coming toward them. The man I overheard, maybe?

The girl's "master" confronted the guard. "I am here on business, showing my newly acquired property how low she is so she won't resist. I might even get me another." He chuckled and turned to Kagin. "That's right, little girl. You're nothing. You are easily replaceable, so don't try anything. I won't hesitate to kill you if you act up."

I'd like to see you try. Kagin thought.

Gail’s eyes shifted slowly from the master to the slave as he looked the two over quietly. Doubt having her walk around here is going to make much of a difference. He looked back to the merchant, a humorless smile crossed his lips. Probably gets off on watching them break.

“I feel as if I should inform you that very few caravans have arrived after yesterday’s auction, so the selection here is fairly limited and most likely not on par with your… standards.” He said looking back towards Kagin. “And the prices of what few slaves we do have will not reflect their quality.” He met the merchant’s eye, maintaining his cold smile.

“If you will follow me I will take you to the company’s recent acquirements.” Gail said, turning on his right foot he started down the row of cages stopping at the first occupied one. A male his caravan had picked up from a nearby city on a trade. He turned towards the merchant.

“Strong, silent, and follows orders well.” Gail spouted off quickly.
Though, I'm sure this isn't what you're after.

Ranak cursed the names of his jailors for a moment as he held his smarting wrist before he took a good look around his cage.

As expected of a cage, it was small and confining, the rusted iron was still too strong for him to bend, DragonBlood or no, and it offered him little protection from the chill night air. It was exactly the Hilton he expected it to be.

"This is a fine mess," he mumbled to himself before looking to the cage to the side to see the woman from the previous evening awake and aware, "Good morning... or evening, as the case may be."

He heard voices and the sounds of people moving, but could not obtain a reasonable view of the goings on to care about it yet.

"My name is Ranak Scarborn, apparently I am a DragonBlood," he would have extended his hand in greeting to his fellow captive, but the holes in the cage were too small for it.

Straw crunched as Alvia shifted her weight forward off her right leg. She ran her hand over her left shoulder, she needed to stretch to keep it flexible but she didn’t have the room. Her eyes flicked up to the man in the cage adjacent to hers. What does he mean by ‘Apparently a DragonBlood?’ does he not know himself? She let her right hand drop away.

“Alvia Corun, for as much as family names still hold importance.” She leaned to her left, she could hear the guard from earlier speaking but couldn’t make out any of the words. She turned her attention back towards Ranak. “You speak as if you don’t know your own blood.” She shifted towards him, lowering her voice.
(My best advice is to write through it)

"Can I maybe talk to him for a little while? You wouldn't mind watching my girl now would you?" The merchant was quick to ask. "Just be careful with her. She was expensive..." He smiled.

Kagin was disgusted by the whole matter, but was careful to keep quiet. Too bad your money;s going to go to waste. You have no idea what you bought into. Looks like this was not your lucky time...

((You can join, but remember the rules. No one liners. If you're going to be a part, you'll have to be able to keep up the the standards of the RP.))

What? He’s actually interested? I thought he was just after another woman. Gail tapped his boot against the bars of the cage, waking the male. “Up, client wishes to speak.” He spoke with a hard edge. Gail turned back to the merchant as the dragonblood got to his feet and walked to the bars.

“I will wait with her at the end of the line.” He said motioning towards the end of the row. “Let me know if you require any information on some of the other dragonbloods here.”

Gail shifted towards the girl, he tilted his head slightly. “Come along.” He turned and started down the row towards Alvia’s cage.

((Sorry for lack of response yesterday. Real Life interfered in a most annoying and bureaucratic way.))

Ranak shrugged, "I do not know how willing to believe in the strange you are, but allow me to say that it is a fairly odd story about the discovery of a lineage I did not know I had yesterday. Is that not the way of... well, us? Some kind of awakening," he looked over at Alvia, his eyes taking in her preternaturally pretty form, "I fear that I have little knowledge of the DragonBloods. Until yesterday, you-er, we- were little more than rumors of people with power over Magic. I do not know of your origins, but in my place of birth, magic has been relegated to myth." The young man shifted in his cage so the he was resting his back against the rear of the cage.

He did not notice the shuffling feet that drew near to them, still a little weary from his awakening.

“I will take a logical leap here and assume that some otherworldly entity did not appear to you while you lay near death and tell you that you were born to a line of the ancient kings,” he said to Alvia, “When did you first learn about your blood borne abilities?”

Even asked he asked this question he took notice that he had grown a little under five inches since the previous night, standing him at six foot two inches. He also noted that his skin was smoother, unnaturally clean given their current circumstances, and at the same time harder, more durable.

His ears twitched finally as he caught the sound of the two approaching them, turning his eyes in the direction in honest curiosity. It was one of the many signs that he was not yet adjusted to the life of slavery.
