I'm surprised no one's mentioned Twilight here, not that I've ever read the series myself...

I have obviously spent too much time on gaiaonline that I expect people to react similarly here. Anyways I'm sure there's books I considered the worst but I can't remember them right now for the life of me. I haven't been to school in over 2 years so...everything's a haze.

^ (asdfg you beat me to the punch.)

I'm dissapointed by the amount of books I loved that are here (Homer's epics, To Kill a Mockingbird, George Orwell, etc.)

I love to read. But there is one book that has combined elements that I find so bad that I never want to have to read it again.

Twilight.

Die LotR and Lord of the Flies. Lord of the Flies makes me so mad! Basically you're reading about a plan crash and for some reason the only people that survived are A. all kids B. all boys. First thing they do? Strip and run around naked!! Then they kill another boy later on- they land on an island- because they don't recognize him! They EAT him!! And he was the best character in the whole book!! Anyways-

A Child Named It
The Clique series
Little House on the Prairy books
The list is endless

Weird thing about my list- I was forced to read all of those books by a. my teacher b. my mom or c. my sister who tricked me into reading them by promising she'd read one of my books.

Head Games I forget who the author is. But it lead to the assumption that all abused children turn into either rapists, voyeurs, serial killers, mentally unstable or a combination of any of those. And that is a cruel and totally bullshitted stereotype.

Seize the Night.

That book was awful in so many ways. To start, the main character reminds me of something I would have come up with in the sixth grade. He has a rare genetic disease that makes him unable to go out in the sun without getting instant cancer. His dog is an abnormally intelligent mutant. Government conspiracies, cops are evil, people are turning into lizard creatures, inter dimensional travel, ect ect it was a piece of shit.

I got the impression that any book that Dean Koontz writes is exactly the same, am I right?

Said before, but I'll say it again.

Twilight.

But what gets me about Twilight is not only the fact that it's trash, but the fact that it is so freaking popular! It won an award in a children's book competition. Against Harry Potter. Really, America? REALLY??? (Because Twilight is certainly not for children, and the messages that it sends definately shouldn't be delivered to children. Or anyone for that matter)

And I did read the series. Except the last one. I just couldn't force myself to do it...but I heard that was the worst one, anyway...(is that possible?)

But I've never read Harry Potter before...

overrated=/=worst book ever. If the most overrated series was the worst, Potter would take that cake easily. For the assloads of priase the series gets, it's pretty weak.

Also, as far as worst book ever, probably gonna have to go with some of the Forgotten Realms Drow Chronicle offshoots. Forget what they were called, but they were really weak. It was really clear the author did not care for the books, that they did not care for the mythos, and they just wanted to cash in on a recent success.

Shit sucked.
