I've been milling about Seibertron.com lately and managed to dig up some things from the rumor mills.

This movie is ACTUALLY LISTED as "Untitled Transformers Film" on imdb.com right now. Whether this holds any salt is beyond me, but the way rumors have been flying around at some of the major TransFans hangouts, it looks like something major really is in the works.

Though the movie is supposed to roughly be based on the G1 series (while I've heard it'll be based on the OLD movie, it'll more likely be the G1 comics Dreamwave is releasing, even though that one's confusing and hard to follow... I'm just reading it 'cause the Lambo twins are playing a bigger role - go Sunstreaker! X3), Megatron is likely NOT going to be a gun. They're going to stick with the tank form from later incarnations because, according to the rumor mill, Hasbro doesn't want a toy that transforms into a realistic-looking gun.

Recent rumors had stated that Steven Spielburg was being looked at to direct. Now Jonathon Mostow is at the top of the rumor list. The only thing I know nearly for certain here is that this is going to be a Paramount film.

No voice cast or list of actors for the human characters have been listed as of yet, although I'd like to see them get Gary Chalk and David Kaye for Optimus Prime and Megatron. They're certainly not Peter Cullen (original Optimus Prime) or Frank Welker (original Megatron), but they did pretty good jobs as Optimus Primal and Megatron in Beast Wars. They also play Prime and Meggy in the new TF game. On the other hand, both Peter Cullen and Frank Welker ARE still in acting... maybe they could still get them.

It's just a pity that Chris Latta (Starscream) and Scatman Crothers (Jazz) passed away a while ago... I hope they can find people to do those voices justice. Maybe Doug Parker for Starscream and Phil LaMarr for Jazz? Hm. Guess I'll have to wait until cast lists finally get released, huh?

Nothing much else at the moment... more as I find it!

"Dreamworks and Paramount Pictures have acquired the movie rights for the Transformers. Steven Spielberg will executive produce the live-action film which has a scheduled summer release in 2006. Optimus Prime, Wheeljack, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, Jazz, and Brawn will be driving the main story line."

Also, Tom Hanks is supposedly being looked at for this film. The writer has been confirmed as John Rogers, who also worked on "Catwoman" and "The Core". While that is not promising, at least Spielberg is working on it, and Dreamworks is a pretty good production company.

More news as I get it.

Just some interesting things. The second one is Don Murphy's official forum, so one would be more likely to find official info there.
