People often get confussed on what they did. And don't understand what they're doing wrong. So i thought i'd point out a few things for all members to clear it up.
If you follow the site rules and forum rules, you shouldn't have any problems with them. Note: There are rules against causing problems with moderators, so if your bugging them and making unneeded, unwelcomed comments, chances are, your breaking that rule and you deserve what you get.
A lot of the problems people have with any moderator could be avoided if people read the rules and then continued to follow them there after. So if your not sure on anything, reread the rules. We encourage it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask, we're not going to bite your head off if you have a question.
Moderators are here too:
Answer any questions users and members may have to the best of their ability.
Keep the forum running smoothly.
Make sure complaints are being dealt with.
Making sure threads are placed where they belong.
Keeping members on topic.
Moving topics to where they belong if started in the wrong area.
Closing topics that sadly, need to be for whatever reason there may be (arguing, pointless topics that don't involve any conversation or topic at hand etc etc)
Keeping the users/members from disturbing forum conversations.
Keeping unneeded giths and arguments down as much as possible.
Making sure all users and members are treated fairly and respectively by others.
The list goes on but that's basically the idea.
I'd like to clear one thing up. Although it is a rule not to bother nad harasse the moderators (and other site helpers mind you) That does not mean you have to suck up to them and be buddy buddy. It is merely a matter of being respectful and leaving them be. You do not have to like any of us or get along with us. But there is absolutely no reasons what so ever to be rude and disrespectful of any of them and ignore their warnings. If a moderator asks you to stop something, then you should stop it without a huge argument.
If anyone has any real problems with a moderator, that is fine. But there is no reason to argue with them and cause a scene. Merely contact one of the others about it, or discuss it with the one at hand over pm, e-mail or what not.
There is far to much arguing, bickering, complaining and whinning lately. Although i'm all for people being able ot express themeselves and such. I'm a strong believer in that there is a time and place and a way to go about it. And once your opinion is made, be done with it and don't mention it ever damn chance you get. It doesn't do any good for anyone. And it certainly won't give site helpers of any likes more reason to be respectful to you.
Whenever i think of something i will be adding it to this thread in the future. Advice per say on how to react and handle moderators in a way that will not get you into trouble yet will get your point across in a respectful way. Or just simply a guide to what we want and how to react to our warnings. For example.
If a moderator tells you that your off topic and to get back on topic or what not. Users/members do not need reply to their comment but to only go back onto topic whenever they find something to say that is on topic. Responding to a moderator everytime they tell you to knock something off or stop arguing or to somply go back on topic, is just going to cause more problems and over time, can become extremely annoying and cause more problems than needed. We aren't looking to here why you did what you did. All we care is that you either stop it, don't do it in the future, or know that your doing something wrong so that you don't in the future and end up getting in trouble when you shouldn't (contrary to belief, we don't go looking for people to yell at) It's as simple as that, so unless we specifically ask for a reply, there's no need to. Just follow directions/requests and all will be fine and everyone will be dandy.
Note: This is only to benefit users and members. This is not to yell at anyone but only for users and members to understand how moderators work and what they're here to do. And how they may react to certain things. A guide of sorts, as a way to try and reduce problems. This is not for debating in. If you have a question fine. But this is not a place to argue over how things work, to explain how they do. |
