To be honest, I don't know if this could turn out to be one of those things to not talk about in a public space or whatnot, so I'll just skip the details, the names, the links, and summarize.
I was taking a browse through FAC when I stumbled across something . . . odd.
One person's gallery has 27 pictures.
...Seventeen of which were uploaded in a time span of 30 minutes. Yes, I counted.
Another member noticed it and left a comment on a picture saying, I quote, "arent we only suppose to only upload 3 a day??"
So naturally, I'm pondering: What kind of bug is responsible for it? It's possible they might've made auto-approval, but that doesn't give them immunity to the 3-per-day limit, right?

This seems to occasionally happen.
The code for the limit is rather simple, and a smart person can get around it. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

ooh, really? Don't worry, I don't have any intention of breaking the rules. Besides, I don't have that many pics... ;; That is cool though. If you don't want stuff like that happening you should probably re-design another security system. Password encoded always works for me. It keeps my brother from adding things to MY fave list... |

By the way, what type of security do you use?
Rachel: Why? so you can bypass it.
lol, just joking. Even I did crack the code, I wouldn't do something like that. I was just wondering. Cause, if you know how, you could probably re-design it so that the person would have to figure out the password and crack a series of codes before they could get in. or maybe that only works for some things... whatever, you know what? just ignore me. |

The steps of the submissions process are all locked down by the 3-per-day check, right? It's been awhile since I uploaded three pictures in a single day, and there's only one explanation I can think of....
(time passes as Strata runs a quick experiment...)
And my hunch was right. Dammit, I was right. In less than ten minutes, I was able to upload four old sketches to my gallery. The kind of stuff that's for the scrapbook, that I wouldn't be proud of showing off under normal circumstances -- so it's time to clean up that gallery. Some thanks for the auto-approval feature, I wouldn't have been able to test the hunch otherwise.
But I've figured out how it could have happened... and the fix for it wouldn't require much work -- relatively speaking, of course. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA
