I just beat KOTOR 2 as a light sided Jedi, and I have to say the game left me wanting. The plot, all in all, was acceptable, though not nearly as good as in the first game. The game play itself was excellent, but this game lives in the story, and a lot of that story just wasn't there.
I just saw a whole lot of potential that went unused. A deeper friendship with Boa'Dur and Atton. The possible love relationship with The Handmaiden that sprung up but never materialized disappointed me greatly. A LOT of potential for an enthralling love affair, but what you get barely skims the surface of what it should have been.
Basically, it doesn't give you the character interaction and development that it did in the first KOTOR that I loved so much. To get a character to tell you anything, you must have influence over you (aka, they have to like you). This basically boils down to having to go through the same conversation threads over and over in a vain attempt at eliciting information, and at the end of the game you may still not know a characters back story and motivation. Even your own character doesn't feel very deep.
So at the end of the game, I am left feeling rather disappointed. There were so many things I wanted finalized: the "love triangle" between you, Visas, and The Handmaiden. Atton's full story. Mira's true intentions. All of this is either left hanging, or not concluded in a satisfactory way. If Obsidian had set out to make a great looking game with awesome strategy and fighting, they did a good job. But people play KOTOR for the rich story lines and enthralling characters. I was expecting a rich tapestry of flavor. What I got was vanilla.

So, it isn't worth shelling out 50 buck then, I assume. |

Do so if you want, but buying it used would be just as good. _________________
