i took a random quiz about whether or not your character is a Mary-Sue, and surprisingly, i got the 'fairly mary-sue' result..
...not surprising ify ou consider i was couting for at least 15 of my RP characters |

PP: Ah yes, much fun. Unfortunately, I have a knack for writing Mary Sue characters, or so I've been told (Those tests are evil. >.< ). Who knew that a loud-mouthed, crossdressing boy with ADD or an albino 'bitch-hermit' (thank you, Foamy the squirrel, for that most endearing term. Praise the lord and master. :heart: ) with obsessive-compulsive tendencies up the ying-yang could be a Mary Sue? Scary-ness...
Amusingly, they're not really fan characters. They may've started out as such, but have since them evolved many times over (mostly the albino) to develop their own stories. Writing is not my forte, and fanfiction is a big no-no in my book. I like to write, but I prefer to use my own characters, if only to ensure that they're acting like they should. However, because of that, the first rant kind of threw me slightly, especially when it came to relationships. I was trying to develop the crossdresser's biography, but when I got to that part, I was stumped. In this case, I was trying to develop one character at a time, if only because my poor little brain can't handle very much. This proved to be a problem with that section. How could I define my character's relationships with other characters if I didn't even know who the others were? I have yet to read the second rant, as my computer is being a retard and won't load the blurdy page. ::grumblegrumble::
Anyway! I have many...interesting... stories to tell of my experiences with Mary Sues and the fangirls who write them. However, I doubt that they have any place in this forum.
In closing, Mary Sues and their fangirl authors must S.U.F.F.E.R! XD |

... um, didn't you say at the beginning you have a habit of writing Mary Sue's? So doesn' that mean you're asking yourself to suffer? |

PP: Aha! But I didn't claim myself to be a 'fangirl author', now did I? I simply said that my characters always seem to be classified as Mary Sues by those random tests for some reason. >>;
So, I didn't really say that I needed to suffer. I said that Mary Sues need to (sorry, guys ::huggles random RP characters classified as such:: ) as well as the rabid fangirls who write them. |

By my reckoning, after careful examination of all of the Mary-Sue tests I've found, it is NIGH-ON impossible to get a character who is not at all a Mary-Sue. I've found so many contradictions between tests it's stupid.
Isn't a Mary-Sue, basically, an overly perfect, beautiful girl of around 17 who has the most amazing voice and makes the main guy fall in love with her, yet despite this has some inner torment/secret past, yet is able to act like never happened and doesn't affect her on the outside in any way? |

In a bundle, yes. Although Mary-Sue's can appear in much more subtle ways that make them less obvious but still there. Like for instance, if you've read the series Lies Unfolding. It's a very renowned book for having MAry-Sue's, yet the author purposely made it so subtle, that you don't notice Lilane is a Mary-Sue until the 5th book or something. Which is why people still enjpy reading it. It is very to relate to everyday life, yet there is this perfect character in the mist just you can't tell. So not neccarily in all cases. |

Yeah, I agree that Mary Sues are like...not good, to put it as simple as I can...or feel like putting right now.
I can also admit to having made a few Mary Sue stories here and there but over time, I kept reinventing the characters so much that the Mary Sue-ness of them is...really incredibly subtle...and stretched out, even. Meaning... I may tend to use more than one character to project whatever qualities I like about myself (which are few and far in between) for a Mary Sue that's...you know, kinda unconventional. Multi-segmented? I dunno a word for it. I don't have a good example I can think of for this, but I do it O_O
And I took that Mary Sue quiz, or at least A mary Sue quiz. It said I was probably not a Mary Sue author type person or whatever. Gotta love that probably part. |

I have no way of explaining it any better than I could right there. I guess you'll just have to be confused...until I learn how to give examples...which won't be anytime soon, I reckon. *angsts* |

o, I reread it. How bout this: Basically you're saying you use more than one character and each one contains a peice of your personality. The way, they won't be Mary Sue, but at the same time, they have your qualities.
That right? |

Yeah, that's what I was...trying to say. Good thing one person got it >_> Let me hope others do just as easily. |
