How To Promote Images?

I was wondering how do I go about promoting the images in my portfolio here, without having to whore the images in the forums?

I've noticed the picture of the hour on the upper right-hand side of the screen; is that randomly chosen, or based on how many hits its received, or the popularity of the artist?

I'm so confused, but oh so willing to learn how to navigate around this truly wonderful website! I'm so glad I found you awesome people.

Pics on the right are random.

As fpr whoreing out your images, add a link to your sig and be active in the forums community. If people see you around your pics are more likely to get noticed.

of course, making pics of a subject matter that is popular here helps too.

Also, you can post a link in the fanart critique so other people can give you helpful advice (Warning: some of them are really hard critics, you might get insulted even though they're trying to help, enter at own risk)
