beautiful lineart, such soft pencil strokes. the tattoo is pure love. i like sketch drawings all too much this is wonderful tho. all i can see that is wrong with it is... well the pose is a little stiff, although that can be intentional and have nothing to do with the quality of the artwork. the breasts are too... long. the bottom of the breasts is what i mean, that line goes on too far.
but its looks so very sexy. and kind of like you actually, her eyes lovely figure also. <3
this is one of my best and faves, so pls be gentle =3 http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures.php...35372&size=full _________________ "edit : i luv james" - Layzcarter |
OK. Let's see if I can comment.
+The proportions are pretty accurate.
+The texture-ish thing on everything gives it a bit of a unique look, and keeps it from being too flat and basic.
-Actually, with her hand facing that way, she's not giving ME the finger, she's giving HERSELF the finger. ^^;;
-Nothing but that one hand has an outline, which kind of ruins the consistency for me. I suggest either having the whole thing outlined, or not have an outline on the hand.
-The blurriness of the head is distracting. Did you not feel like drawing a face? Or is that how you do hair? Or is it something else?
Alrighty. Um...I dunno, how 'bout this one from me?
http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures.php?pid=416460
yeah, i couldnt get the hand to go the other way, and i wanted to give the char a mysterious fell, so no face.. i kinda over smudged the hair , tho, so your right.
thanks for being honest! ^_^ |

Haha thanks, originally it was going to be a sort of self-drawing but I decided against it. She looks quite a bit like me, though it is anime so accuracy is difficult. Thanks for the crits! Now I'll do yours.
-------
AH! I absolutely adore this picture  I'm a fan of pencil sketching as well though I don't have a lot up, and the shading you did is lovely. The dog is also a nice touch- the breasts are very well done You spent time there I see.
The only mistake I can really see that's wrong is anatomical- and that is that her legs and arms are too short. You probably already know this, but the tips of her fingers, if dropped casually at her side should reach about mid-thigh. It might just have been you ran out of room on the page, or that you like short girls, but it doesn't look too bad. Very well done and very sexy
-------
Here's the next picture I want critisim for- http://www.fanart-central.net/pictures.php?pid=285773
It's actually a sketch I never finished, but posted anyway because I liked the flow. I was considering inking and coloring it, but haven't decided yet- it depends on the critisim I recieve.

Oh wow, that's very lovely, SpasticPenguine. Anatomy is, as far as I can tell, perfect. All the lines and sketchiness really show the movement. I give it a 4/5.
I feel like I should be critiquing it somehow...this is very hard...
Okay, there is something about her right knee. The shape, and how it is angular in comparison to her left knee.
As far as I can tell, that's all there is wrong with it! Amazing work!
Here is my picture for critique:
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-434551.html
Sigh...it hasn't received one comment, so I don't know what anyone thinks of it! Give me your fullest opinion. |

Hey, you deserved some comments.
Pros:
The detailing and the shading in her eyes are just stunning, really brings them out.
Her hair is also lovely, falling down really smoothly and naturally, and the highlights and shading on it are just soft and quite pretty.
Also, the coloring of the skin, and the sketchy-kind of feel on the clothing, which is also done with some really nice folds.
Cons:
It could all be part of your style, but her eyes are... well, I can't say too large for her face, as that defies the ground rule of anime, but her face is a bit... awkward. Maybe something in the facial line instead, I'm not sure, but maybe if the eyes were slightly smaller...?
It's not too noticeable, but the head also seems slightly out of proportion of the body, as in it's a tad too large, though really just a tad.
And perhaps a background would be nice, to fill in the empty white.
Still, overall, quite a lovely pic. 3.5/5.

Thanks for the critique! Your pros are very flattering. About the cons, I see exactly what you mean. I'm not quite sure why I made her eyes so big...I've been trying to watch for that in my other pictures. Maybe it is just my style? And I think her head looks a little big becuase of the angle of her shoulders...
Anyways, I guess I'll hit ya, then!
Pros: This picture is really, really cool! I love the expression, and the bones. That's cool. Anyway, you did the eyes really well. I always have a hard time doing droopy eyes, but your's are perfect! Really great work! I like the words too; the handdrawn font is just right. It has a unique feel to it.
Cons: Just a few. First being his hair. I don't feel like it lines up with his face. Like if you were to draw an axis through his face, I feel like face would be diagonal but the hair is more vertical, if that makes any sense at all. I dunno, maybe that's just me. Second, was his hand. The wrist looks like it's coming from an awkward position, and I think his ring finger is too short. That's it.
Other than that, I really like this picture! The style is so unique. I give it a 4/5, and a *faves*.
Here's another one from me:

Hmm. I'll give it a try. ^_^
Pros: You have a very pretty style. I like the feeling of motion that the cherry blossoms give the picture. The girl's hair is awesome, too, very flowy and it fits with the mood of the pic.
Cons: I know you said that it was supposed to be bright, but I feel that you could add some more contrast and color, which would improve on the look. Also, the lines are a bit light, so it's a little hard to make out some details.
All in all, it's a beautiful picture. I'd probably give it, hmm...3.75/5. ^_^
Now for me...um...how about this one?

Oooh. Wow.
Pros:
Well, I have to say, what really sticks out about this piece is the awesome coloring job. The skin is just lovely and the way you shaded it makes it seem so... downright realistic. O_O
And the fact that there's no real lineart, just the 'lines' drawn by the coloring... stunning. Absolutely awesome, and showing quite a high level of skill.
The shading in the hair [highlights, moreso] are soft and subtle, much more realistic, which really fits the piece. And the way the strands are all individual... very flowy feel, like there's a soft wind. :3
Cons:
I've never really worked with realism myself, but I think there's something just slightly off with the positioning of his facial parts... Maybe it's too much to the side, or something about the placement of the lips... but it just seems... a little bit off.
Just something... ungainly. Otherwise though, I have nothing more to say. Awesome piece. O_O
I'd give it 4/5. It really is an awesome piece.
I guess I have to be crit'ed again. Whohoo.
Just a lineart of mine I really liked.

Well I haven't been here in a while. : D
Pros:
You have a very unique style.
The red streaks jumps out of the picture to you, catching your attention so you're looking directly at his face.
Smooth lines
Nice details.
Cons:
How the head is situated on the neck. He's neck is just a wee bit long.
The way his face is looks like he's tucking his head to his chest almost.
The face looks like it's too small to fit his features.
His shoulders come up at an odd angle and connect at an odd angle too.
8.4/10
Ok, my turn:
(It's simple.. I know. xD )

Pros:
I think the anatomy's all pretty much right, and the coloring's done very interestingly [with watercolor? computer?]... as well, the char's face is nicely proportioned and situated very nicely, not consuming the pic and not undistanced.
Cons:
I think the pic's rather simple, just the profile and start of the body.
But the main problem here would probably be the lines; it might be a style you like, but I don't think the thick lines work so well; a finer lineart could show more details and better lines that are more smooth and curved instead of seeming like a thick line that barely curves...
And perhaps a background to finish it off, as the front is all colored and all.
Still, pretty nice. 3/5.
Just a lineart, and kinda old, but I did like it. XD

Otay. Let's do 'dis thang! >:3
+ The text looks cool. It's a stylish font, and very neatly done. Not to mention that the words fit the expression on the character's face.
+ The variations in line width are interesting.
+ The lines are very neat, clean, and precise. It's all very nicely rounded out and looks very natural and flowing.
- The only thing hurting this picture for me is that it's fairly plain and basic. Really.
What's there looks great, it's just that there's not much there to catch your attention. ^_^
Alrighty. Here's one of mine. ;P

Oh, snap. O___________O
I didn't really want to be spamming this board [laugh] but I just gotta give crits for this piece.
Pros:
My god, just absolutely stunning from the first glance. The expression is wonderfully fierce and strong, absolutely riveting. The electric fizzes are wonderfully done with just a slight glow, and the body muscles and proportions are just about flawless, considering the dbz style.
And I really love the sketchy style here, as well as that shading... the shading is just perfect, in all the right places, and its mottled effect is a not-so-commonly-seen one which I think is quite unique and beautiful.
Cons:
I can only nitpick, really. The shading is mottled/out of lines on purpose, I know, but on the edges, it just sometimes seems to jut out a little too much.
As well, with the dark red background and the lightning sparks, I would've expected the pic to be a bit darker, and thus I think more darks on his skin/body would do better, and also perhaps to show slight highlights from the electricity or whatnot.
And also, although the perspective probably cancels this out, his waist just still seems a little too thin for the rest of his body... just slightly.
Still. Just absolutely stunning. Awesome piece.
4.75/5.
You should post more work, though we can't really crit it much more. XD
Now, for me... hm, how about this one?
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-450163.html
Take note though, this was an oekaki, and on the board it was done on, the animation was killed. ;o; If you don't do oekaki, just know that there were 2 layers, one on which I worked the background, another for the lineart. Animation save killing makes the entire pic fuzzier [jpeg] and kinda blocky, and it merged the layers so I couldn't work very well on the BG without messing up the lineart/foreground. So, just keep those things in mind. ;_; |

I'm not seeing a real definite light source here. Not that I can do any better. Maybe you are ready to shade ever little inch of your work yet; I know the feeling all to well. I do suggest if you ever do decide to add shading you can base a lot of the shadow on the purple jets from the board- that may give your image a kick ass purple shade effect, or you can play from the body energy flame or whatever you choose. it's just a suggestion. And forgive me if I have misinterpreted you in anyway what so ever, that was not my intention. sweet image though.
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-406150.html
This my absolute WORSE picture ever! I really slacked off on getting it down and- it's just terrible. Aside from my own shoulda-coulda-wouldas, I would enjoy a second opinion. maybe we might have the same idea or you may open my eyes.... I seriously HATE this pic. T.T I do intend on trying it again in the future. _________________

Hi RubyconCream!
Here's my critique of your artwork:
The Good:
- You did a great job on the proportion for both characters. Neither looks odd next to the other.
- Good work on the colors as well, I like the transparent effect on the sash. It looks like you were using magic markers. Don't see much of that anyore.
- You kept it very simple, and it's effective.
Areas Of Improvement:
- The pic is actually very nice. I don't see much improvement needed, 'cept maybe a little shadow to give them a more convincing overlapping effect.
Overall, a very nice picture. Simplistic, but effective. It's good to see non-computer generated colors.
I'll give you a 5 out of 5.
Now, here's mine.
It's an addition to my Babes & Blades line of drawings. It's Maya & Aya Natsume from the anime/manga Tenjo Tenge.
Maya is holding her brother's (Shin Natsume) Cursed Katana, and Aya is wielding a Tessen. The Tessen is an Iron Fan and is used as a weapon.
http://www.e-budokai.com/hibuki/tessen.htm
Kindly note though that this is just the line art. I'll be using this drawing as my entry to this drawing. I'm working on the colored version right now. Working my way through "Photoshop For Dummies" so I can color this fool thing to make it worthy as an entry.
Anywhoo, I'll post some updates when I'm done.
As always, feel free to leave your comments and feedback.
Enjoy!

I don't know much about anime, but I think that this picture is awesome. Great lineart and cool composition. It's hard for me to find mistakes. All I can see is that some of you lines, like on the sword and the legs, look sort of wobbily. Also, the hair looks sort of strange, but that's probably just the style; I wouldn't know.
So here's my pic:

Okay, first time posting in this forum, hopefully I don't mess anything up. D:
Anyway, here's the pros:
~I absolutely adore your coloring style. It's different, and a very cool look to it.
~You did a great job positioning the characters. Especially on the masked guy closest to us.
~ I like how you didn't do the lineart in completely black, I think it brings out the colors more.
Cons:
~Luigi's left arm looks a bit too long.
~The bottom part of his face seems larger than the top, but it's not too noticeable.
~The background seemed kind of neglected, meaning that you didn't seem to work as hard on it as the focus of the picture. Maybe put a bit more detail in it?
All in all though, I really liked it. 4/5
My picture:
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-484971.html
Although I've gotten some positive feedback on it, I feel that there is still some improvement needed. |

Sweet.
Pros:
Lovely artwork. Your lineart is clean and flawless and smoothly-flowing as should be. Your coloring is bright and... colorful, and it obviously shows that you're not afraid to use color in a bold way. Very lovely.
For chibis, the bodies are all in wonderful proportions, and the thick fingers fits it here, along with the small noses and large eyes. Very nicely done.
Cons:
Really nitpicking here. I think that for one, though the picture is nice and bright, it might've been a bit too much so. I had to look it over a couple of times before I realized they were wearing crowns. Perhaps a difference in shading or light/dark between the foreground and the background? It'd be quite difficult to achieve, and again, it's just a tiny tiny error.
And this is just a personal opinion, but I've never been much for chibis. It does suit the image, but chibis just seem to make it a bit more dampened, as the style is bent towards simplicity and fast lines.
However, it really does go nicely with the image, and it's quite a good pic.
9.5/10.
For me [sorry, again]:
http://www.fanart-central.net/pic-457580.html
My one note: I forgot to shade his ear.
...::sweatdrop:: I finished that in my sketchbook now, but I'm too lazy to scan it again. ^^; So just ignore that one flaw. |
