That's what happens if the image is broken (invalid URL) or if the server hosting said image doesn't allow remote links. The URL for it appears to be:

www.fanart-central.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=8666&st=0&/Banner.gif

Which is definitely not valid. Hmm... make sure that you grab the entire image URL, and not just the filename for it.

To grab the URL of an image, right click and select "Copy Shortcut" (IE) or "Copy Image Location" (NS/FF). Then paste it wherever you need it.

Oh, and the URL must end in a .jpg or .gif extension for the IMG tag to work, like these:
http://www.fanart-central.net/forums/uploads/av-1418.jpg
http://www.kennethfejer.dk/images/isocity_link.gif
http://www.pixelgala.org/bottom/IMG/banner2.gif
