You had a valid question. And even though I'm staff, I still get all of four comments. Wee. Not that I care. Wouldn't have nominated me for this, either (if I was someone else n' had the option to nominate me...you get what I'm saying).

I've been wondering about this, does being artist of the month boost the amount of comments you get substantially? Or just the amount of views?

Dunno about views. Increased the amount of comments a bit, considering I didn't upload anything till the end of the month. But not to rival Seifer-sama or anything. I assume it's because there's just a generally larger interest in anime. N' that's cool, better a few comments from people who genuinely want to comment than 30 "COOL!!!!"s. And most of it has to do with my subject matter. Kurt still gets the most comments (either because it's still linked on the contest page or most likely just the subject), while there are a couple others in my gallery of similar quality but less popular subject matter.

But I don't mind. I can upload to DA for good feedback and to FAC for the fact it's much more tailored to musician fanart (thanks to the fact I've named myself lord of the singers/bands cat and will have its organization down to a near science...[insert evil laughter here]).

Any artist of the month that draws anything popular will, I'm sure, see a big jump in comments.

The views and comments go up in some way of course. Some people more than others. Like fallen said. Anime is the big thing here. So anime type drawings would be the ones to get the most views and comments after winning. But hey, those kids needed some change. I'm glad fallen won. Her s**t is cool.

I wonder if somebody else said this before, but I'm too lazy to look at all the posts... anywho

will being chosen as artist of the month have to do with how many comments they have and how popular they are(well of course, alongside being a great artist)? because I know some wonderful artists that aren't reallypopular just because they don't give like 10,000 comments or draw popular stuff (like goth, or Jak2...not insulting dazedpink there o.o Wink

. I just was curious to see what you thought about that :ninja:

The list i wrote out for those to look at is on page 6 of this thread i do believe. It lists all of those nominated and waiting on the list to be winners ^_^ With the exception of some new ones that have been added since.

And the winners that are being drawn for the first few months of the this contest, are going to be artist who are more a less not popular, but of great talent. It's why we started it in the first place. We thought there were a lot of great artist that simply weren't getting noticed enough like the lucky ones like Pienumien (i know i probably spelled that wrong) and Seifer-sama.

Later on, people like the two listed above, will be able to win the contest since they are great artist themselves. But we want the lesser known right now to get that chance.
