I'm on the "screw-you-I'll-eat-what-I-want-diet". Diets piss me off. They make it sound like the reason people are fat is because of those evil hamburger buns or meat. If people would just eat normal portions of whatever they want and get off their fat arse a few times a week, over half the country wouldn't be huge. People want an easy way out, so I really don't feel sorry for those who have tried twenty diets and gain it back. People on slimfast and such are the best. If you want to drink that stuff for the rest of your life, more power to you, but I'd much rather enjoy my spaghetti and run a bit.
If anyone out there found one that works that you can keep off, good on ya, but I just don't understand it. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'm a STRONG disbeliever in diets.
I DO NOT believe in them. All they do is make people think theres something wrong with them, whether they need to lose the weight or not. And thats a simple fact.
I eat whatever i damn well want to, i just can't eat a lot of anthing. Lets put it this way, i can't each much more than something the size of my fist at a time, just that, and i'm plenty full, and i don't eat three meals a day, i tend to eat if possible and when so, 5 smaller meals throughout the day.
it keeps your body constantly working, but at a nice pass, not to fast and overworked. And when your body is constantly working like that to burn and digest food and drinks, the metabolism is natural strenghted and built to work stronger.
I completely agrue with Fallen, it's all about portions, and anyone with a brain isn't going to eat at mcdonalds for breakfeast, wendy's for lunch and pizza hut for dinner. i mean come on, even if you don't get fat from it and exercise, your arteries will still be clogged up and you'll have an heartattack by the time your 25.
it's called self control. Just exercise a little, and that doesn't mean going to the gym. During the summer and its warm, at school, we go out for the last period everyday to the park across the street with a few teachers, and we play a fun game of basktball where we all act stupid, but we're to busy joking around and laughing to notice we're sweating our asses off and getting a workout.
Simple things like that.
just tonight, i had a bowl of hot chili with cheese and sour cream mixed in it (it looks nasty but taste sooo good) and you know what, i'm jsut fine.
and no one can disagree, cause i have a very slow metabolism and i have med conditions that cause me to take medications that even worsen it more T_T and as long as i work a little, i can keep it off. Although it can be a little more of a bitch for me than some.

Ha, I've come to the conclusion I will never be hollywood skinny, which is fine by me. I have a slow metabolism, too, and I do just as much as it takes to maintain a normal weight. Long as I still have a distinguishable waist, I'm good. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Meh, been on diets, I don't care anymore. I'm not really overweight so I just say 'f**k it'. I refuse to buy into some thing that every girl has to be a certain size and a certain weight to be beautiful. I have confidence in myself, I'm intellegent, I'm funny, and in my eyes, I'm f**king dead sexy. Drop the diet unless you're dangerously over weight. By the way babe, Atkins will f**k you up : ) |

The reason I'll never survive on any diet: I love pasta. I love bacon. I love potato things. There went all the fad diets. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Haha. I can survive on a diet. It's really not that hard. Being around my friends and them going on about how fat they are (mind you, they're thin as a motherfucker) made me feel wrong. Then I was like "You know what, I'm not f**king fat..." so I just decided no diet for me : ) |

It's hard for me. 'Cause I'm a somewhat picky eater in that I'm not a fruit person at all (hate them, hate them, hate them) and not big on veggies either. Grains and meat, the two things the fad diets go on n' on about, are the big part of my diet (along with taters )
All else fails, wear heels and get some killer legs so no one even notices your extra weight. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

There is no good solid proof to back that up.. just speculation. _________________ |

Heh, there may not be but everyone I've talked to who did it just 'happened' to get constipated and stuff. I know someone who died from it. I wouldn't trust that diet, it's not exactly the safest thing. |

lol i'm glad i'm not the only one opposed to diets (i didn't want to say anything too much against them since the person who started this thread was obviously a diet person)
i just dont think they're worth it- i mean, if there are so many out there, and new ones are being created every day, then diets really can't be doing much good because they're always being changed. i understand everyone is different and it's whatever works for you, but it's really a waste of time and is just another way to conform to the idealistic standards we have set for ourselves.
i agree with lasher's idea of generally healthy eating and exercise. pssh i may be a couch potato, but luckily i'm addicted to applesauce (mmm tasty, and i'm told it's healthy) and i dance. i'm a picky eater, too. i'm pretty ok with my self image thing- i know i'm not perfect, and i dont want to be. if i ever feel the need to be thinner than i am or be stronger, i'll go to a gym. no dieting shall be needed (hopefully)
the atkins diet scares me. everyone's always talking about it. i think my mom was on it. but can people really die from it? wow that's horrible! pssh and everyone's always making such a big deal out of it... _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

I'm convinced it affects people's intelligence. Come on, the low carb burger? Take the bun off, take the bun off, take the bun off... I don't get it. Man, I don't even like Subway, and that low carb wrap looks like cardboard. Who introduced packing material into our food supply?
But I'm sure it's all very tasty. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Man, like a while ago, sometime Last year, my parents were doing Atkins, so I was like "Why the hell not try it?" and I did. Man, I only lasted about a week on it and then I didn't eat meat for about two or three weeks. |

I think it was their colon or their liver (I'm not sure which), anyway, the diet caused it to swell and some how it killed them. That's pretty much all I know. The same thing happened to my step dad, except he was only on the diet for a short period of time, so he was alright. |

see people, diets are NOT good for you, in fact, they'll kill you...either that or just inbed a negative self image of yourself for the rest of your life and put you into a spiral effect of dieting, starving yourself, and completley ignoring the food groups you need on a regular basis all because the hollywood big shots are doing it and says it's good for you...yeah, go ahead believe them, after all, their only paid to look like a million bucks so why they ever lie to you, i mean, they lie to themselves half the time about self image. come on now, think straight..
Me, i love pasta (fallen) and i love meat, steak, i'm a meat eater, that's how our bodies are built, for the intake of meat more than anything. And yes, i do like my broc and eat my carrots and peas...but i'm not oh to big on veg, and fruits, i only like cherries, strawberries, and on the rare occassion i get craving for bananas, apples, and that's about all. And anything that's all out raw like veg, oh god now, demi more can do it, but i can't and won't....and i hate fish, makes me ill...only fish i eat is the lobster tail with some nice butter, and even that is extremely rare..
but i'm still not that bad for health, i just have to work my f**king @$$ off more than a lot of you because of my fucked up metabolisim (i gain weight, extremely easily, it sucks, but i deal with instead of calling myself ugly and fat) i get over it and deal with it..if i get fat, my problem, i just have to get my @$$ up and running again for a few hours....it's a real bitch to but hey, do what you gotta go...and remember, it's all about portions...not what you eat (as long as you don't eat all mcdonalds of course, duh) and you'll be fine.
god i wish people were more confident in their self imagine these days. It's rather depressing and really annoying not to mention sickening to hear people say some of these horrible things about each other, and about themeslves.
the average weight for a 5-5 girl believe it or not ladies a gentlemen, is suppose to be 140, not 120 jackasses....surprise you? go to 5-6 and add an extra 5 for the average, and that;s AVERAGE!
EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT, stop worrying about everyone else, and learn to love yourself..cause in the end, that's the person you'll live with all your life, and you can't run away form yourself, no matter how much you want to...you just can't.... |

Sweet, I'm actually way under normal weight then. Quick, someone bring me some cake!
Know what everyone should do instead of these pop diets? Enemas. Mmhm. If it's good enough for Dave Navarro, it's good enough for all of you. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |
