I've got the first chapter started and I'm about halfway done plotting everything else out. And don't worry about annoying me, people only really get on my nerves when they ask me the same thing every 20 minutes or so |

i'm sorry but that is not an idea for a story <_<
If your writing a story, you have a set of characters, and you come up with more when and if you need them, on your own. That's not creative, it's not imaginative, it's just asking others to do ti all for you basically. <_< |

Ooh, I think my creativity has been insulted. I apologize if you think I lack imagination. My problem is most of my characters are a tad too fantasy-oriented to fit into a storyline like this. That, and I like the challenge of working with other people's characters. Unlike the ones I've created, I don't know them inside out and need to do a little more work to make them act like themselves.
I also lack the ability to come up with a character on a moments notice. I've had my four most often used OC's for close to two years, but I'm still not finishing mapping every aspect of their personality and history out.
Perhaps, if I'm so uncreative, I should just give up? It seems to me that some people would appretiate it more if I did. After all, who would want to read anything done by someone as unoriginal as me?
I really was looking forward to writing this, but it seems I won't be. As of now, nothing else is going to be done for it. |

It also doesn't impress people when your characters are a dime a dozen. Or, I'd have several sub-decent characters with nothing overly interesting about them. I prefer having a handful of well planned characters to a dozen boring ones.
And telling me to read more often.... I'll resist on commenting on that, before my pathetic excuse for an ego takes off. |

Hey hey hey wait just a second! You're not going to stop what you want to do just because a few people don't like it, are you? Don't do that, you should write for you, and the people who want to read your stuff. I'm actually looking forward to your story.
And as for everybody who said using other peoples' characters is uncreative, what do you think fanfiction is? Aren't you using other peoples' characters in those stories too, even if they are mixed with original characters? Itsn't that being a bit hypocritical? (Note: I'm not talking to you Lasher, because I don't think you've ever written any fanfiction. But I could be mistaken)<_< |

*glomps LDD* I agree with the fanfiction thing completely, as I thought of it shortly after posting last. But....these people have at least part of a point. I'm not ever going to be successful if I need to borrow someone else's character. I really was looking forward to writing this, but the easiest way to make me feel small and insignificant is tell me I'm being uncreative -.- |

Not necesarily. Working with other people's characters can help you improve on developing your own. Besides, it's fanfiction, right? It's good practice, and it's not like you're writing a novel.
And you're going to get critisium everywhere. Trust me. You shouldn't care what other people think (to a certain extent, of course). If you want to do your fanfiction, then do it. No one's stoping you, and I know these guys wouldn't read your fic if they didn't like it. Write for you.
And thanks for the glomp. =^^= |

Hi! I like where you're going with writing, and I sincerely hope you ignore any idiots that tell you that your style of FICTION is wrong, when the idea of fiction itself being wrong is improbable, impossable, inconceavable, and, in all other ways, preposterous! And if you do decide to continue here's a character suggestion:
Name: Sume
Meaning: Beats the hell outta me...
Alias: Judgement
Age: 25
Birthdate: Unknown
Birthplace: Unknown
Blood Type: AB-
Family: Overprotective older brothers, Mitsuru and Shinji, and an innocent little sister, Anneke; Drunkard father; drugged-up mother.
Race: Inuyasha (Dog demon)(Half; human dominant)
Abilties: From full to new moon: Inuyasha; From new to full moon: Human; Dark flames engulf his body at will. night vision and heat tolerence up to 120 degrees.
Hair color: ebony
Style: waist length, flows freely
Eye color: Crimson as inuyasha, hazle as human
Marks: Chainmail armor tattooed on torso and from shoulder to elbow (my dads friend has that and it's so friggin cool!) and a black dragon covering his entire face.
Body: 6'11''; 270 lb
Clothing: baggy black jeans; tight white undershirt; black leather vest.
Fighting style:Strength and strategy mostly, as he lacks in footspeed, and his
stamina drains quickly when running.
Element: darkness flame
Weaponry: bastard sword for its adaptability from one-handed speed and two-handed strength
Hobbies: polishing his sword; checking in on his siblings from time to time.
Favorites:
food-pizza
drink-vanilla coke
Person-younger sister: Anneke
Likes: outdoors, animals (especially dogs and birds), warm weather and sleep
Dislikes: People who refuse to think something bad might happen (optimisms fine, but THAT is just pathetic!), long-distance running, swimming and people who are always rushing to do the most pointless things.
Fears: Losing his little sister; losing control of his powers and fleas O.o
Personality: He often apears pessimistic when not fighting, but is quick to lose his temper. He rarely smiles except when he's amused or around someone he cares about. He has a problem with losing his consentration when hes bored, and he tends to get defensive if people insult his siblings
History: He left his family early on in order to escape his fathers drunken stupors. He lived his youth as a thief, taking advantage of his cunning and then small size, but soon gave up thievery due to his incredibly poor speed. He then lived with an elderly desperate to pass on his swordsman skills before he perished. After his master fell victom to his age, the now 20 year old Sume had become a strategic mastermind and a strong fighter. He continues as a wanderer even now.
Vehicle: He rides a black motorcycle. He prefers motorcycles for their ability to turn quickly and because you can baord it and get off quickly.
Remember! How you write should be about what you think a fic should be like not everyone else!

I may be an idiot but i don't act like a drama queen if someone tells me how they see it. I call it as it is, and i told her how i saw it. It's called critism. If she can't handle something as simple as that then i'm sorry.
I don't have a problem with people doing fanfiction. I don't mind people using characters from movies, books, tv shows, anime's and all that good stuff. It's to be expected. But actually going and asking people to give them their original characters or just straight up make them up some original characters is a little off by me.
And for the record, i have done fanfiction, although i refuse to do anything 100% fanfiction, it just seems wrong and so uncreative to me. I always have my own story, my own theme, and my own whole line of original characters.
I'm also working on a very unique, difficult and complex series that if i ever finish writing completely before i die, will end up being a number of novels. Wether they got published or not, i don't know. but i all ready have over ten, specific, detailed, hardcore, main characters. Each that has their own story and background, their own personalitiy and thoughts and view on things, all of which tie into each other at one point. I've been working out the details for a year now, and i probably will be for many more. I hate not having my own characters, i dislike using others original characters. Using some popular, widely known though along with my original is just good for practice, thats all it is. And a good way to get feedback without putting out my pure base original stories only to get stolen.
Heaven forbid if anyone even laid a finger on something that was my creation, you'd be damn sure i'd have them hunted down and have a letter from lawyer delivered to them. No contact at all but straight into court and taken there ass down for all they got and don't. |

I wasn't aware I was acting like a drama queen....I'm sorry if I was -.-; Not gonna make any excuses as to why I was being snippy, but it does irritate me when people call me uncreative. Oh well, I guess that's true in a way...I'll accept criticism fairly well, but that doesn't mean I like having my imperfections pointed out to me. It definately helps in the long run, but that dooesn't mean I must love every bit I get.
If I do get around to writing this story, I'm gonna hafta agree with what Lasher says and make my own characters. I really do need to practice making characters for areas I'm unfamiliar with, and I'm not gonna deal with being called things I despise if I can fix it. |

Thats the whole thing with critism. The ones that hit the hardest, tend to be the ones that have some truth to it, or you yourself believes to be true. It is a reason to work harder at what your doing really. The critism that bothers me most is the ones that i know are write and can help with my writing if i work on them. The bullshit stuff people feed out like "thats so stupid, i don't like those two" that doesn't even draw my attention, because it doesn't matter, it's a personal opinion, not a fact.
Making characters aren't that hard if you just keep at it. You just have to teach yourself to think complexily. I guess it's easier sad than done, i've been making characters of my own up in ym head in detail for at least 8 years now. I never put them down on paper but the newer ones i am now that i'm older and able to take it more seriously. We're all different in it i guess.
The characters that have been given in here for you to use to far, are so much different from anything of mine, it's weird. I don't know if its just me, or what. *shrugs* Actually, i need to get my ass in gear, i promised someone i'd have some short bio's written up and sent to them on some of these characters. It tends to help the artist draw them more accurately. Yes, i have them drawn for references and extensive bios. It helps a lot, and is a wonderful experience to see your character born on paper visually and not verbally.
Just keep at it. Try doing 50% fanfiction with 50% original and through in an original plot. It tends to get the creative juices flowing that are needed for new characters and development. That's all the advice i could really give anyone. And don't force it, thats one thats utterly horrible to do. |

... I can't believe you people. Yeah I know she asked for characters but like she said she doesn't deal enough with this type of genre to actually come up with anything she may like soon. I have trouble with making new characters. They all tend to have some of the same personality flaws or traits. I agree with lasher that a lot of it does come from practice, but I acutally study many different kinds of fiction as well as art styles before I come up with something I like on my own. For Celtic, she just needs a push in the right direction. I'm offering her a character of my own so that she can get her feet planted in the right direction. and whoever said she wasn't being creative. she had to come up with the story idea first, before she could even ask for the characters. she knows what she wants to do, but needs a bit of help to get there. isn't that how a lot of people got started?... @.@ I did not mean to rant actually... why do I do that *shakes head and walks off mumbling* okay well that's just my opinion. |

I believe it was I who said she wasn't being creative and i have no problems in doing so. I was being honest and how i felt and if people can't handle that is it really my problem? Now, it's theres, and they'll just have to learn to deal with it. It's called life.
If she needs a push in the right direction, some help as you say yourself, then why give her your own character instead of helping her to develope her own? You end up sounding like a completley hypocrite right there really now don't you? Your not helping her by giving things to her rather than showing her and explaining to her, going through with her the creatives process.
And researching stories, history, arts, blah blah blah, isn't necessarily just making a character, but more or less refining them and coming up with references for them. I tend to have my characters in my head and it isn't until later when i do "research" that i find things that i could give as references per say to explain how they look, act and such. It's not the specifics that make the character but rather the character that makes the specifics really. |
