Nope nope, not PWP or parody. Straight up seriousness.

What I also don't like is how the Inuyasha group is always introduced. Miroku gropes Sango. Sango knocks him out. Inuyasha is being an ass. Kagome has to sit him. I want the gang to be doing something...different, for once, ya know? Most fanfictions start out as that, and it drives me nuts.

this happens alot in self-insertion mary-sue IY fics: the character is somehow related to Inuyasha, has all his powers, has a sword just like his.

Heh, tell me about it. I hate all the fics in which Kagome gets into a fight with Inuyasha and runs home. Yes, I know it happens a lot, but it can be made a lot more interesting if the fight was seen from another person's point of view...instead having the POV on Kagome or Inuyasha, why not have it on someone you don't hear a lot from, like Mrs. Higurashi or Shippo?

and everyone forgets about fics where you just kind of explore the character's personailty, and the world around them from their view.

like having a fic by from the POV of Jaken.

now that would be more insteresting, to see how the little toad sees things.

Ug same here. I hate when people take this GREAT idea and then...well...for lack of a better term, aren't the best authors. *cough*

the random A/Ns aggrivate me too. I once tried to read this story, but this guy had WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many author's notes about the most stupid and random s**t I could have just stuffed his own computer down his throat. *grumble grumble*

Yeah, me too. I hate that. I mean, in a few of my fics, I had authors notes, but those were rare, I mean, there was a total of maybe five throughout the whole 24 chapters. But when authors clutter the freaking thing with author's notes...god that annoys the hell out of me too.

author's notes? i leave a little asterisk by whatever i want to comment on, then at the bottom of the chapter, block off a section with underscores and write the comments.

alot easier.

I know it's been said, but Mary-Sues... They suck. Or the male version of them... Gary-Stu, I believe it was called.

By the way, Rain and Fire is a good OC fiction by Dark Chobit on Fanfiction.net, no Mary-Sues... Well, it doesn't seem so to me. It actually combines Yu Yu Hakusho with InuYasha pretty well... Not the usual, like Yusuke is Kagome's cousin, like that would ever happen...

So basically, anything 9 year old fangirls write normally annoys me, unless they are [b]talented[/b] nine year olds.

i don't write fake angst.

To me, angst is not the-guy-pretends-to-hate-the-girl-then-happily-ever-after.

Angst is my fic in which one of the chraracters commits suicide, and the other gets kidnapped, raped, then commits suicide too.

it's a Yami No Matsuei fic thouhg..most people don't know of the series. i ought to write a Gravi fic one of these days...

The whole guy-pretends-to-hate-the-girl-and-then-lives-happily-ever-after crap isn't all that good, unless it gets tweaked a bit. For example: what if the main hero and heroine really do hate each other, but through events that force them to help each other out, their bickering tones down. Doesn't mean they still don't dislike eachother, and once they have grown tolerant of each other, or become friends, even, still doesn't mean they won't fight. It can't be "I hate you, now I love you" bullshit...the relationship has got to develop, and even after they've gotten through the hardships, they're still gonna grate at each other's nerves. Which can then be turned into a slighy rapey, hot romance, but I'm not gonna get into that now... <_<

I hate it when authors have a naieve character. But not naieve as in innocent, but so naieve to the point of STUPIDITY! Stupid characters should burn and get killed off like sheep...then again, they can be used for that, too...

that's one of my specialties; possessions and mind control. most of the fics i write have alot of the characters getting their minds really messed with.

angst, death, sadness, psychological torture.... ^_^

Went on a fanfiction browsing spree tonight, and now feel the need to add my own hate list. Read the other four pages (yeah, fangirls suck... Rolling eyes

~ Bad crossovers. Now some of these I can tolerate, even some really weird ones. Like "what if all the members of metallica were vampires?! OMG SO K00L! Met/Anne Rice crossover!!!!" I actually read one a long time ago that was done well, but ya know why it was done well? They didn't start out in another friggin' universe where they all happened to be vampires. The author [i]gave them reason[/i] to be. Also, authors who write crossovers just because it's something they like. Like crossing Buffy with Labyrinth. "OMG what if Buffy ended up in the labyrinth and had to fight the goblin king? KICK ASS!" No. Just no. Don't do it.

There are just some things that [i]don't work[/i], and mixing one series with another is one of them. Write two fics or something.

~ Similar to the first point, people who write stories based on their limited experiences [i]or[/i] semi-self insertion. Like writing a story about all the Aerosmith guys in high school just because you want to write about being friends with them. 90% of the time, any alternate reality stories suck. No one wants to read about a fantasy character suddenly being a lawyer or a movie star. Now in some cases where the story takes place years later and a younger character has grown up, then choosing a career for them is usually ok. But taking a character and putting them into a completely impossible situation is stupid, no matter how well you write it.

~ I don't mind smut stories at all, but poorly written smut scenes (especially if it's PWP) are painful. Try *gasp* reading some other stories and figuring out what sounds good and what doesn't. There's just some vocabulary that does not work well. Oh yes, and people...please do your research when writing anything dealing with the opposite gender, especially if your first hand experiences are extremely limited.

~ Death to useless original characters! Look, especially in PWP stories, if you don't have a reason for altering an established pairing to an OC, don't. It's self insertion at its worst, even if the author swears they weren't writing about themself. To use an example, there's a lot of Labyrinth fics out there of "Emily wishes her baby sister away and has to go rescue her, but what if Jareth has other plans?"... What the hell. You're just rewriting the original story with some sex and don't want to write Sarah. Too damn bad. Keep your little fantasies to yourself until you can come up with a real plot.

~ Anything written without reason. An author's note at the beginning that says "AN: ____ and ____ (who are enemies in the original) are a couple". No they're not. They want each other dead, and unless you give me a damn good reason IN THE FUCKIN' STORY for them to feel otherwise, I'm stickin' with that belief.

~ 99% of songfics. I don't read the lyrics. Ever. I want to get into the story, not be pulled out of it every three paragraphs to read another shitty verse of some evanescence song. If you must, put some at the beginning and/or end. Not during the story.
