Art Theft Accusers

I've flipping had it!

Listen kiddies, THANK YOU for being self-proclaimed art theft police militia...

HOWEVER, before you start flinging accusations, MAKE SURE FIRST THE PERSON YOU ARE ACCUSING IS ACTUALLY GUILTY

I am sick and tired of people telling me I stole my own work because their sole reason and basis for the accusation is: [b][i]"They'd seen it before!"[/i][/b]

That's not enough evidence dear hearts, how about going to where you saw it before and check to see if it's maybe my WEBSITE or my DeviantArt account or the Studios I work for or the multitude of other places people host my work or have taken to host without permission...

my point here is this, STOP CALLING ME AN ART THEIF JUST BECAUSE YOU HAPPENED TO SEE THIS PICTURE ELSEWHERE.

Shocker folks, fanart central is not the only artist archive out there.

And not all of us are beginner level either, there are lots of great artists out there and I see on everyone of them some IDIOT accusing them of being theives because they "Saw it"

Just because it's GOOD does not mean it's automatically STOLEN.

There are people out here who have worked hard and have moved beyond amatuer artist, to moderate, to professional levels.

Becuase you're not at that level yet DOES NOT GIVE YOU THE RIGHT to accuse others of stealing if you THINK it's TOO GOOD or Saw it somewhere else!

GET PROOF FIRST!

THEN ACCUSE

If you can't prove it... STFU ALREADY! You look like idiots (and you are!)

*gasp*

Sorry for the rant but this is the WORST PLACE other than GAIA ONLINE where the kiddies accuse others of theft left and right without using thier braincells first.

If they can't prove it, nothing will come of their accusations. You can leave such comments and report their behavior so we can send them a warning.

Especially the Wolf's Rain Fanart...

I hate that Cartoon Network showed this, all the 13 year old idiots are out in force.

I drew them over a YEAR before Cartoon Network ever aired the program.

But now since my WR stuff was some of the first fanart for the series, it's been seen a lot, and these new fans are accusing me of theft left and right here.

Because "They've seen it elsewhere"

Including the fact that some idiot used one of my pictures for a bootleg fansub DVD menu on eBay (Without my permission)

That's caused me untold headaches.

"IT was a DVD menu you stole it!"

Um no, that was an illegal [b]fansub bootleg [/b]and he (or she) no one will tell me who they bought these from, stole MY PICTURE and used it on something I would have never allowed.

I get irritated over this, I really hate that people are so quick to point a finger and mar someone's reputation (and let's face it, on-line you can be innocent and it takes ONE LOUD PERSON to ruin you.) One should not have to defend themselves repeatly when they are innocent, and accusatory bandwagons are everywhere, and run by idiots.

I totally have to agree with you. In some ways it's nice to know that so many people are on the look out for art theives but a lot of the time people are way too jumpy and way too quick to accuse people. Speaking from experience, there is little more insulting or hurtful than being wrongfully accused of stealing.

I'm really sorry you've been having so much trouble here with this. It's nice some users are so eager to find theives, but it's really annoying when they go around pointing fingers at people. All it does is cause more problems. Especially when they do it to people with real talent Sad

It depresses me when the good artists leave. For every good artist we have around here, we have about 50, 5 minute doodlers

Like Fallen said, if you want you can write us out any e-mails about people. It's hard to just check up on people's profiles. I could do it now but in the future, it won't be something on my list. If i did that i'd have to check up on around 25 profiles weekly :wacko: To much. So in the future, feel free to e-mail us with any complaints on users bothering you and such, with a name, and we'll be happy to check it out.

Feel better okay? And don't let people like that get to you. They're not worth your time and energy ^_^

I second your request.

I just joined this forum yesterday, and already I've been accussed at least three times of stealing MY OWN WORK. There's a reason for this, likely, that has to do a a certain plagarist on the Wall of Shame named "Lhiannan Sidhe" who stole from a number of artists, including me, and posted pictures she found on my homepage on this site. She airbrushed over or cropped out my name and wrote her own over it. She was caught and banned.

I, as the real artist, thought about it and decided that I had the right to repost my art with my name on it-- the way it should be-- and put that information in my profile. However, people seem to like to point fingers at me without first reading about my plight.

I can prove to ANYONE that the drawings are mine if I need to. This is really angering, because it adds insult to injury over the whole incident.

*sighs* I'm not even sure if posting my stuff on this site is even worth it anymore. Maybe I'll just take it down and leave, and that'll be easier.

No, i'm serious. If anyone has any serious complaints or problems, they can e-mail us at anytime. And mean my god, if half the users feel it okay to bug our webmaster about their MSpaint not being accepted or why we're rejecting the official art their trying to submit, i don't see why would reject to having any real problems to deal with. Not the kind of stuff written in the rules. Or answered in FAQ.

Most the people who have a reason to e-mail us, never do. Why i don't know. And i really hope no one goes as far as to leave FAC. Everyone is welcomed here, with the exception of real thieves that is. It's really sad when good artist leave because of things like that but hey if you want. *Sighs*

ummm i've joined just few days ago and didn't really experience those things yet....and i'm still at the bottom level ...so i can't really say much....i guess you can just delete the posted accusation and just ignore that it was even posted? i guess...what really matters is that you know that you haven't done anything wrong.... ooh I totally known how you feel I change my name everywhere I go so most of the time I get accused of stealing my own work like at DA or gaia but then again gaia is full of thieves one of my pics was stolen and used in the Vampire Hunter D art contest and they used it also as an art auction piece down there until someone recognised it as my art.
But yeah its best to get proof before you go accusing people. Most of the time you'll end up looking stupid.

It's not always so much the quality or skill level as it is the originality of it. Some people aren't as creative as others and steal pictures that are of a fairly low level (usually someone who hasn't been drawing for too long) based on it being funny or just plain amazing in originality/creativity n.n

But no one is born with talent o.o (I like it better when artists come from way down in the mud of no talent and work hard to get better)
Don't base your talent on your current skill, but how much further you can improve it n.n
Work hard. If you want it badly enough, You'll get better! There are no limits!!

The best thing to do is pick a distinctive name that you think you'll stick with (something that's close to you or something) and keep that.
Something that won't just be your "user name" but also your pen name (if need be)
like.... you don't want to pic something like "kagome_girl384" or something like that because in a month you may not like Inu Yasha or you'll watch some new anime that's your favorite. Plus, it won't stick in people's minds (they won't associate it directly to you and they might confuse you with "kagome'sgirl483" or something O.o;;;;

Argh...MY ART GOT STOLEN!

Poor Axel...though technically I don't have much power on a fanart since I don't own the copyright...

I got over it after I went on a while goose chase to well *cough* ...we won't go into that...it just made me slap my logo upon everything in color in my possesion...

Man...I will never say my art probably won't be stolen again...I must've jinxed it...
