I don't know about the rest of you, but recently a lot of the stuff these kids are saying is getting a little...disturbing.

They're talking about anime characters and stuff as if they're real. Once on their profile or something is okay, but every review or every forum entry or anything they talk about what they did that day or other anime characters in interaction with them.

That...and they get REALLY mad if ANYONE says that "so and so is mine" or "I love so and so" o.o I've even seen one girl say "So and So would never love you you ugly bi**h!! I"m with him EVERY night! If you say that one more time, he'll kick your @$$!!!!"

Is anyone else a little worried about this? I worry for the future generation.... o.o;;;;;

lol, yah ive noticed that too. but i mostly kept my mouth shut cause, i am not the type to point out people's flaws. *laughs* ok, well, maybe i have done that in the past. na, it is scary though, because these kids become highly offended if u say that their fav character "sucks". and, omg, i will never, ever, do that again.

lol Pow. You still got the scars from that incident, eh?

I've been noticing it growing recently o.o and not the "so and so's my fav so I drew myself with them" ....it's just creepy when they say "they love me and I love them"
lol n.n I had one picture I drew of my friend with her and her fav character, and almost all the reviews contained "kills girl"

lol I know what you mean. I guess Im one of those people and I freak myself out sometimes oO I say I love them but I dont say they love me and I do draw myself with them but I kept myself from going over the whole thing. Im not going to shout everywhere that HES MINE! well maybe over the interent n.n but not in real life. Oo Im not going to spent the rest of my life devoted to a character it would be pretty silly. I guess its only a fantasy of mine. That and these characters attract us more then a real person.LOL we love paper more then humans xD <_< I guess im just waiting for someone and not in a hurry(o_O every guy I meet so so friggin stupid >_<) and by the mean time im clinging on to my favorite character. Go ahead make fun of me dont care xP

You need to seperate reality from fantasy. The characters aren't real, and when you begin to act like they are, you scare me... very much. Leo and I talk about that sometimes. We both agree that those kids have some serious issues. Maybe their parents didn't hug them enough as kids, I don't know. All I know is it creeps me out like whoa. I always tell them to get over it... they annoy me :/

Oh jesus, yes. I don't even understand the attraction to cartoon characters. I mean....they're cartoons. WTF? Whatever turns ya on, more power to ya, but when it gets to the point of loving them like a real living person, it's just wrong.

I actually read/participated in a huge discussion about this once, and this was pretty much the conclusion we came to:

Kids cling to anime/cartoon characters because they're idealized people, even more so than movie stars and any other real person. They're perfect, super human, perfection, and since they only exist in the context of the cartoon shows, a kid can make up anything they want about them, make their personality whatever they want, make them feel however they want, especially when it comes to fanart. It's the perfect "guy". It's not so easy with a living, breathing person because they have real lives that never live up to what you want them to be.

The physical attraction is what creeps me out. The "OMG!!!! HE'S SOOOO HAWT!!!!1111" Besides the arguing over who owns 'em and such. "He's mine!" No, honey, he belongs to a 50-year-old man who drew him, now go take a nap.

If you think that's scary, the furry fandom is 10x worse.

lol i agree it gets pretty scary sometimes. i've seen it especially with the more popular anime, like trigun, yuyu hakusho and inuyasha. i've drawn some of them, and i've had comments with the "he's mine!" or some other thing about taking home the character and what not. haha i think it's funny so i don't mind (and any comment is good). but on pictures that show a character with a female character or a fangirl, it gets increasingly nasty, as raymei said. creeeeeeepy stuff. i'd say it's because they have no boyfriend or even prospects for boyfriends/crushes, so they devote their time to imaginary characters. lol or just have too much time on their hands

heh about the physical attraction thing... lol my cousin and i have actually had discussions about what cartoon characters would be hot in real life (don't ask), so i'd have to say i'm guilty of that charge. but it's never been to the point of obsessing or thinking the characters are real or anything, just pure hypothetical situations. so don't worry- you have no kooky, obsessive fangirl-antics to fear from me.

o and what do you mean by furry fandom, chris? heh i'm a little out of the loop it seems...

Furries, Anthropomorphs, 'sexy' cartoons of nude animal-human creatures and the fans that go with it. Scary stuff.

o i get the furries thing now- yea i knew what they were, but i didn't realize people obsessed over them too. so do people create their own furries and obsess over them? b/c most are made-up characters, rite? that's a little odd...

the funny thing is, a guy dressed in a cow suit, can be having sex with a guy dressed in a female cat suit, and never, even know.
but they wouldnt care, because to these freaks, they arent doing a human, they are having sex with the animalistic being.
