Ludacris, Missy Elliot, Eminem, Lil John, Sean Paul, Kanye West
shhhhhhhhh...... let's not call them rappers k. Let's call them PoppyRaps. K. Eminem... you can be a closet fan......but nothing more. Kanye West... you can be a fan of his.. as long as you're not listening to Jesus Walks over and over.
Layz, those rappers aren't alive anymore, so they aren't living anything.
Also, they rap about taking other people's lives away. Some rock does that, Hell, a lot of rock says that. Only they say they want to.
They were livn it..........till they got all killed........
havn some trouble finding lists like that for rock. _________________ |

Lol, ok, I like pop rap then. ^_^ I don't do the whole sub-category thing; to me, rap is rap. I know that's probably not true, but that's how I see it. _________________ 222.

Quit sayin "yo, yo, yo" like that. It's not helping your argument.
Rock and rap come from the same origins, only one is older than the other.
Rap wasn't made official until the 80's, or late 70's. Rock has been around for well over 50 years.
And the quality remained the same until the 90's. Average-Awesome
Now it's mostly s**t. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

It's fuckin' annoying and it makes us think you're one of those gangsta posers.
Or just me. Whatever..
And if you're asking me "rock or rap", you should look back on my posts. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Yeah, I will.
Rock is mostly crap now. Most after Nirvana(excluding Foo Fighters, Audioslave, and Velvet Revolver) were terrible. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

I quit listening to the radio, cause in fact, it all sucks. Oh there's a couple of good ones out there, but after MTV and the radio beat it into the dirt, what's the point? I listen to a lot of non-mainstream, and I'm not talkin about that damn college pop-beat sh*t either! Here's a few examples:
Cradle of Filth (hardcore, and didn't become radio's wonderboys after their tour with Ozzfest as so many bands do.)
Insane Clown Posse ( I can imagine what everyone thinks about my opinion now...)
After Forever Think Evanesence with a bit o' the hardcore)
Gravediggas (yeah, it's Rza's group... so what? I havn't seen it on TRL before!!!)
Brother Lynch (nobody, I mean NOBODY who can be offended should listen to this!)
That's just a couple, I mean, I still love all the music from my heyday (Metallica, Nirvana, STP, NWA, etc...) and I still hate most bands from the 80's (Guns 'n Roses, Def Leopard, Van Halen, etc...) but I come to realize that there is better music to suit everyone's tastes out there, t just takes some "off the ass" style searching, and quit letting TV and radio tell you what to like.-R
BTW, Rap kicks ass (Snoop, DMX, Wu-Tang, etc...) Pop sucks ass (Ja Rule, Sean Paul, and that wretched ass Jay-z)-R |

Yes, the radio is crap now. I do like listening to the dj's though. ^^
They play a lot of rock videos on this channel on tv called Fuse. I like it a lot. I don't like rap, but i dont hate all of it. There is the ocassional song that doesnt make me want to bash my own brains out.
(sorry if someone already mentioned fuse. ) |

Some radio still rules.
At least the stations that still play the good stuff instead of the new....
Some new stuff is good, but the old inspired it, so it kind of revolves.
and that wretched ass Jay-z
Give the man some respect. Well.. not too much ,but he doesn't deserve to be called wretched ass. He's no different from DMX or Snoop, only he has more talent. He fell off yeah....... but his stuff was great back in the day... not that i was really into it back in the day. _________________ |

More talent? I don't know about that... Strangely enough, he sounds just like my brother who can't rap a line in his life. If I wanted to hear just anybody rapping, I'd listen to him. Jay-Z has no style at all, just like a lotta guys I hear mumbling to themselves walking down the road. I never could see how he became as popular as he has.... It's like that whole "Simple Plan" thread, the rappers in my cd collection don't sound like the guy pumping my gas!-R  |

Okay. Just as long as you have listened to a lot of his stuff before saying he has no talent. I'm not a fan of his today. In the past 6 years or so his albums have been a little hurting.... a little poppy. Have you ever heard the album Reasonable Doubt? Or listened to Dead Presidents... In My Lifetime.. In My Lifetime Remix??? Or even the stuff he does for them mixes.. like DJ Clue and other such things that you would not hear on the radio... depending on what ya listen to. Usually before I decide someone is wretched I listen to a lot of their stuff, not just base it on recent albums. And saying that he sounds like a crazy person mumbling in the street is pretty stupid. I don't like Hilary Duff but I'm not gonna say she sounds like my fat retarded cousin singing in the shower. _________________ |

I like some rock, I like some rap. I dislike some rock, I dislike some rap.
I don't like the pop-rap habit that plagarises older songs for the main hook - would Pras' 'Ghetto Superstar' be as memorable without borrowing Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers? Nope. Will Smith's 'Gettin Jiggy Wit It' without Sister Sledge? Nope. Or 'Men in Black' without Patrice Rushen? Nope.
There's plenty more, but those are the ones that spring to mind. Fair enough to use a sample here and there, but when your entire track depends on it...hmm.
On the other hand, I'm not even going to even start on the current brood of rock groups. All I'm saying is - damn, I wish it was 1994 again.
