S.C. would be a good place to go, considering how it doesn't look like Francis is going to turn north anytime soon.... but I don't think we're leaving. Man... no one is boarding up their windows or anything. Maybe they're waiting 'till it gets closer...? I-95 is already clogged with people from down south coming up here.
Flea, what's it like to be to be in a hurricane? _________________ 222.
Having just barely escaped being hit by Hurricane Charley, I now have Hurricane Francis bearing down on Florida, and while I don't think my city will be directly hit, there is that possibility. I will most definiatley get some really bad hurricane force weather around here. Schools are closed on Friday to give families time to evacuate. Landfall is expected around Friday (kinda ruins Labor Day weekend for me <_< ), right now it's a category four, but I think it'll get stronger. I've never been in any sort of natural disaster, and, quite frankly, I'm scared.
Ditto to everylast word of that. I live in Florida, too. Are you on the gulf coast, Sunny?
I've also been in mutliple other hurricanes and a terrible ice storm 2 years ago. Trees and powerlines fell after the water they soaked up froze and expanded, cracking them up inside. We had no lights or heat for a week. During the day we could go outside, see the sunlight, and freeze to death, or we could stay inside, retain any of the heat the house had left, and not be able to see anything. We missed school, but everyone would have rather gone to school anyways. The ice wasn't nearly as fun as snow because we couldn't sled on it, throw snowballs, or make snowforts, and we had to be carefull of falling trees outside as well. Inside wasn't any fun because we couldn't watch tv or hang out on the computer. We had a lot of property damage from falling trees, too. No fun. _________________ |

No, I'm in Jacksonville. So I'm not going to get the brunt of the strom (as of the current predictions... but you know that hurricanes are too unpredicatble), but we're expected to be in the northeastern quadrent of the strom, the worst place for tornadoes... T_T It's already windy up here.
Where are you, Amy?
Man... ice/snow are a lot more dangerous than I thought. _________________ 222.

I have been in a number of tornados, I think like ten.
One was an F4, one word, HUGE!
I used to have a house in Arizona, and I came down during monsoon season.
Which was a bad idea because there were flash foods everywhere.
Then all the snakes and spiders came out and got in my house. _________________ "My heart burns for you like fire"

Venice, Florida. Close to Sarasota on the gulf. The real strength of Charlie missed us by 20 miles. I'm glad Gaston died out, but Frances and Ivan are supposed to be even bigger. School was cancelled today so the buildings could be used as shelters for those who had to evacuate. _________________ |

Man... Charley just missed Tampa, too. Hey Denis, what would happen to the site if, like, the servers or whatever powers the site got knocked out?
Yeah we had no school also. But... where's Ivan? All I know about is Francis... don't tell me there's another one! :(
EDIT: Nevermind! Got my answer to the whole server thing! ^_^
Sunnydayzdragon [1:55 AM]: hey
Sunnydayzdragon [1:55 AM]: what would happen to FAC if the servers got blown away in a hurricane?
cstdenis32768 [1:55 AM]: unpleasantness
Sunnydayzdragon [1:56 AM]: would it dissapear forever?
cstdenis32768 [1:56 AM]: no, but their would be data loss
Sunnydayzdragon [1:56 AM]: pictures and stuff?

I just did a database backup, so at that would be lost in a disaster is some pictures.
But I really doubt that it will blow away, it is in a secure facility.
It has desal generator power backup and stuff too so it'll probebly be completely fine. At worst that is likely to happen, it would just go offline for a few days due to power outages. _________________ You will obey or molten silver will be poured into your ears. |

Lol, the mental image of a bunch of servers flying around in the air is kinda funny.
Nice to know nothing too bad'll happen. _________________ 222.

| I've driven straight through a tornado. (No lie.) And I've been through Hurricane Andrew when I was a baby (seriously). |

Nope. Just a big, black Mountaineer. And yes Grey, about Hurricane Andrew, that seriously was true. |

Hurricane Andrew, I can believe that, but the whole driving through a tornado thing... no. <_< Maybe it's the way I'm picturing it... maybe my definition of "straight through" is different than yours.... but I doubt it. _________________ 222.

If you ever came remotely close to a tornado, you would be flung through the air like a ragdoll. He may have gone through a small little dust devil, but a tornado would rip that car, or SUV to shreds.
