I agree that flamers are bad, and will report them if I see any. I also agree that criticism is very important. That's why I usualy try to give some constructive criticism. And no one will stop me! Mwahahaha! *ahem* Anywho, please don't let people discourage you from giving constructive criticism. If you stop because of the wimps who don't even try on this site, it hurts those of us who realy WANT criticism! Granted I usualy pick apart my own art more than anyone else probably could, but there's still a chance someone might see a mistake I missed, or encourage me to try something new, or perhaps give me info on a new product or tecnique that I could use.

So please, don't stop criticising, eather.

What gets me is that some flamers will send you an e-mail saying in the subject that they love my fanart but then I open the e-mail and find out it's nothing but flames cursing me out. As for getting flames on my work here I just delete them now. I know I am not the best artist on this site but I work hard. In my opinion it doesn't matter if someone's work is good or bad they still worked hard on it. If I see a picture I don't like then I just keep my opinion to myself and move on. Everyone has a right to post as many pictures as they want and other artists do not need to complain about someone "cluttering up a section" with their pictures.

I'm against flaming, of course, just to make that clear right off the bat. But I do disagree with you on a couple of things here...

1- No, not everyone put a lot of work into their art. Some art sucks because they only put five minutes of work into it, during class, on notebook paper or graph paper. Sometimes they'll even whine about how bad it is but 'don't be mean', and yet 'please comment'...Ugh. These people that do this ARE cluttering up the site.

2- It's a big deal when people 'clutter' up the site with bad five minute doodles because it strains the site's resorces, wastes people's time, and floods the list of the ten newest pics...so say someone spent two weeks working on a realy great peice of work...but befor anyone even sees it on the ten list, it's flooded out by a couple of jack ass's 'I did this in class, be nice' doodles. And then, say the site goes down for a while because of said flooding of crappy five minute doodles...how is that fair to the artists who did put in effort.? Some art realy is a waste of space, and it realy is a problem.

I'm not saying that this gives people the right to be meen to people who's art they personaly just don't care for. Far from it. I'm just saying that some stuff realy is clutter, and that you can usualy tell how much time and efort was put into something. If they're just not that skilled yet, but put time and detail into it and actualy *gasp* finished it, it deserves respect. But even if a person's actualy pretty skilled, if it's just a crappy doodle, they realy shouldn't have put it up. I mean, unles it's a funny joke...that can redeam a quick little thing...but just 'I drew this during lunch and I know one eye's too big but don't critisize' shouldn't be given the same respect. So I won't usualy ceap my opinions to myself, nor do I think people should. I'm polite about it, but I will encourage the person not to submit such doodles, and to posibly delete it.

I would like to see Lufia22 get booted or at least somehow disciplined for flaming. My friend (SmilyFacedGurl) has this one picture that he keeps flaming with the same comment. A while ago he did it 100 times, and then yesterday he did it 247 times...and it's annoying for her to delete it. Please do something to him...

I think I love you. Razz It's not as bad now, I don't think (only uploaded one thing since the approval panel) but before it was insane. I work for 3 or 4 months on something, and nothin'. It wasn't even lack of comments entirely (because ego petting is nice, but I'll easily survive without it), but lack of views. I'd at least prefer to know someone saw it and that I didn't waste my time scanning and uploading.

But such is life. Death to the math doodles, though.

*hugs fallen*

I guess I've been pretty lucky, though I also pick strategic times to submit my art so that I stay in the top for a while. *grinning like a maniak, oh so proud of her obsesive behavior* Mwahahahaha...

I nead to check out your stuff! ^-^

And yes, math doodles are the worst...all that black lined graph paper...*shuders*

Man, if you guys ever start deleting old 'doodle on lined paper' junk, please make me a mod or something and put me in charge of that. *daydreaming* Baybe it's a tad bit crual, but I want to be the one who culls the herds so to speek. *insane grin* Death to the doodles!

Chant with me! We'll start a revolution! lol

Death to all doodles! Death to all doodles! Death to all doodles!

People oughta be paying attention in class instead of drawing anyway ¬_¬

And then you hear those same people with the doodles claiming that they "hate this", "did it in five minutes"," it sucks", etc....but they post it anyway.

I'll get in on some of that chanting, too...

Flames are annoying to get. They try to force their opinions and stupidity upon something they don't understand or like. What worst is that they're stupid about it and give you internet slang: U SUXS MONKYBALZZ!!!!!

I'm not offened by these (and I've gotten a few) but more amused, I'm one of those people who don't get offened easily. Insted I make fun of them back (maybe an eye for an eye type thing, but if they were going to be stupid I'll shove it back at them) But I've hand friends who took all of their art down/fics/whatever because of stupid people. It makes me angry to see all that, I guess it also hits close to home because they're my friends.

Blah, I've ranted.

It's so annoying when people comment about the person or character feautured in the fanart! For example: I HATE ..(whoever is in the artwork) AND THEY SHOULD DIE !KILL...(whoever is in the artwork). I drew a portrait of Hilary Duff and people barely commented on the quality of the drawing! All they did was talk about how much they hate Hilary Duff!
Note to commenters: Quit leaving comments about ur personal feelings towards the person/characters in the artwork! No body cares if you hate them or not!

I hate Hilary Duff (with a passion, as all my close friends know)

BUT...I would not take my personal views of the art piece's subject when critiquing a picture.
I would either comment simply based on the skill (possibly lightly mention my disliking of her....but not flame/make a big deal)
or
walk away from the picture. It doesn't NEED my review, and simply going "I HATE THIS PERSON!! THEY SHOULD DIE!! AND YOU SUCK FOR DRAWING THEM!!!" is a waste of energy, time, and makes the artist feel bad for having their own opinion (which is not right in any form)

Granted I wish to smack that blonde chick over the head with a mic stand she has no business being near... I wouldn't comment about that, except perhaps a slight mention after I commented on the drawing itself. Do I comment on subjects a lot? Yeah. But I always include stuff about the picture (almost always), and it's usually more of the ones I like than the ones I don't. And I kinda like people leaving their opinions of my subjects as comments. Even if they don't say anything about the picture, seeing "Dude, Axl rocks!" makes me happy. Hell, seeing "Dude...he was so cool. too bad he's fat and ugly now" makes me happy 'cause I can laugh and join right in the trash talking. Razz

Sometimes I won't specifically comment about the image, but that's usually only to people I know relatively well, and they know I like their art, so I'll comment more about the character/person or the fact I just saw so and so on VH1, whatever.

It seems that most everyone you are talking about commented on your work positively without a single flame. They just happened to through in thier opinions about the suject matter as well. Personally, I don't think that little b*tch deserves your tallent.

Heh, I see a reoccuring trend here of hatered for Hillery Duff ^^() But back to the topic...

Some flamers flame for attention, don't pay any attention to them, it's not worth it.
As for silent shipping, I don't have a problem with it, people get too obssesive over their anime characters...

bah.

I've only been semi-"flamed" a few times, and it's usually something along the lines of "omg U R SICK AND A PERV LINK IS NEKID EW YOAI." or "btw did u now shiek iz zelda". You know, as if I've never played Ocarina of Time ever in my life. ~_~; *annoyed*

Razz i believed that there is just flame...and no flame....personally...flamers suck...but i guess everyone else agrees with that...anyway....

i don't really care wat people draw...i just don't look at it....yaoi is alright to an extent....im not a big fan of it...but i do comment a people's drawings when they are nicely done....

anyway...its up to the artist on what they want to draw...not to the commenter...well..i haven't posted in a while...

I dont know if I ever "flamed" anyone. I know one picture, that I did comment on for being extrordinare, I did hate the person drawn. I did state something to the effect that "JLO" sucks, but I did say the drawing was almost a photograph and is one of my favorites.

I dont know if that is flaming. I sure as hell wasnt flaming the artist, just a comment about JLO...and she dose suck!

opps Surprised
