::sighs:: Nope. I generally get only two, if I'm lucky. That is until the fic picks up steam and reviewers. For my finished fic (bad...oh god I feel sick thinking about it...) I was into the eighth chapter before I started getting regular reviews, and even then it was posted on two different websites.
I get reviews on MM.org once in a Blue Moon. What I don't understand is how I could get 125 hits and get only one review! I even made a poll for my readers to choose the pairing (and thus choose between two different storylines), and even that hasn't worked, on either website (I actually had to close the poll down on FF.net to avoid suspension, since they say no polls, even if it's not even a part of the story. Gr...) |

i seldom get reviews on mm.org, because YnM is a non-mainstream anime and most of mm.org is IY fangirls. only two people faithfully review: Shu_No_Baka and ReiTenshi. Well, i suppose Rei doesn't count cuz she's a good friend..
on ff.net, a fic that got one review on mm.org got 8. biiiiiiiig diff. |

in this MM.org vs FF.net maybe we should add Soupfiction and Fandomination as well ;)
I like MM.org too althought they don't have fanfics of various cartoons or tv series like South Park, Simpsons, Xena, Buffy, X-Files, Due South, Dukes of Hazzard, Chip's, A-team, Knight Rider....
And FF.net had put another policy which I'm not fully agree with it.
"Chat and script format are the same. We have not allowed chat/script format
for years."
Some fics in script format are excellent and very well done and some series
fit better in script format than dialogue format like South Park, Rocky &
Bullwinkle for example but you can find it on others series/animes/cartoons
as well (and there a topic on a SP forum about that
http://www.southparkstudios.com/fans/bbs2/...opic.php?t=5605 )
I e-maile to the webmasters of Soupfiction http://www.soupfiction.net and Fandomination http://www.fandomination.net Both accept script fanfics, in the case of Fandomination, they accept them as the condition to be well written and formatted properly.
FF.net ended their big clean-up (it's tempted to call this a "witch hunting" but I think I push it too far) of script fanfics in the South Park section, in early July there was around 1020 South Park fanfics while in late August, there only 230 fanfictions.
I wonder if someone taught of creating a site who will accept fanfics writed in script format? Like "Script-fiction.net" (or "scriptfiction.net") just like Adultfanfiction.net is for NC-17 fanfictions? It's too bad than I'm not rich to buy all the equipement and all the machines to run this

That's just you and you're well entitled to say that ^_^
I, for one, do not care for script-fics whatsoever. Script-fics are nothing more to the reader than radio, since they're (almost by definition) 90% dialogue. And, because they're predominantly dialogue, there's virtually nothing left in the way of description. This means that by writing a script-fic the writer earns little to no experience at creating good and vivid detail.
It's also unfortunate that if you as a writer do not offer the reader any description to go along with the story, you force the reader to fill in the details themselves, from their own experience, from their own imagination. This can all-too-easily result in the reader imagining a completely different picture than what the writer intended, that is, if they imagine anything at all.
I for one do not like having to bring my own materials and construct the scenes myself while a story proceeds mostly through dialogue. In a nutshell, script-fics turn me off.

I've read maybe two well written script fics ever. Most people just don't know how to write good scripts. The biggest issue is most people who write them want to write a fic but don't know how to write a "proper" story. They know what they want the characters to say and roughly what they want them to do, but don't have the writing skills (or perhaps are just too lazy) to write it all out. A script fic only requires the dialogue and very brief action notes. Simple, but very difficult to make interesting being read on its own.
Doesn't mean they should be banned, since there are many poorly written "normal" fics too, but I agree they should be formatted properly at the very least. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Yeah... for my last post, I wanted to add that it is possible to have a good script sequence, depending on what's required of the scene or story. It mostly depends upon the writer behind them.
One of my stories I tried to utilize a script format for one chapter because it was a dream sequence, but about halfway through I resorted to standard prose/narration when it progressed into an action sequence. _________________ Strata here: Nanowrimo - FAC - dA - FA

Oh...new rules? No chat fictions? I think it's better than no NR-17 or R materials allowed like in ff.net! (that is,to silver! ) Anyway, i really hate mediaminer sometimes...their system seems to really running slow....and somehow not connected... _________________ ~Care to join me with my doujinshi projects, dearest Malaysia fellows?~ |
MM.org is enforcing the removal of cyoa's, but fanfiction.net isn't doing s**t about it, even if they made a rule for no cyoa's. The whole site is completely enveloped by them and nobody's doing a thing about it. They are way too popular for their own good... <_<
i've never really explored ff.net, so i wouldn't know. i just check reviews, post fics, and leave o.o |
