Step away from the computer, and find something better to do than check the topic every 5 minutes[/b] and complain why you haven't received any response . . . .

Just because you don't receive a response within a few minutes does [b]not[/b] mean we hate you. To the contrary, in fact, complaing about it is in fact a good way to [b]make[/b] us hate you.

You don't know HOW annoying it is to see n00b's thinking that they're entitled to instant responses across a [b]time-delayed[/b] medium like forums. This is not a real-time medium and you cannot expect a real-time response.

Just make your post, go away and do something else, then check back later -- like [b]tomorrow[/b] -- for replies. Don't go crying out loud if you don't receive any, because most of us won't make a post saying "sorry, not interested".

Whether you realize it or not, we are all volunteers around here and we check these forums only when we [b]want[/b] to. This can average anywhere from twice a day to twice a [b]month[/b] depending on what else there is to do in our personal lives.

Most n00b's realize by the second or third post (maximum) that they'll have to [b]wait[/b] to get a response. Sextuple posting definitely earns its place in our [u]FAC Book Of N00b Records[/u], congratulations for the honor.

Now you will excuse me as I leave this topic for other threads so I can cool my jets.

And I'm feeling much better now -- no more rants from me. One per month is enough.

Shinta, since you apparently had a lot of free time to kill, you should read these other threads. Maybe you'll find some inspiration. Even if you don't, there's a lot of good advice in them and you'll most definitely learn something:
- Fan Fic Tutorial (2 pages)
- Need Characters! (5 pages)

The second one isn't actually that interesting until about page 4 when Lasher joins in Wink

, but the first one's not to be missed.

No, the "Certified N00b" group assignment was made exclusively for newbies who've attached images to every post, and refused to stop doing so when asked. In that sense it should probably be titled "Can't Resist Posting Images" or something.

It's not every day that I write a rude wake-up call to a newbie, usually I'm much nicer than that.

dominick, you don't know how grating it is to see n00b's who treating an Internet discussion board like an everyday phone call and jumping to false conclusions (i.e. "everybody must hates me 'cuz they're not responding!") because they don't understand the time-delayed nature of a discussion board.

You don't send an e-mail to somebody and then complain about them not responding to you within ten seconds . . . you wait a day or two because they'll get around to it when they feel like it.

Internet forums are the same way.

In short, you might say her actions merited correction.

I didn't like being the one to do it though. Sad

If that's so, she should really have her own FAC account set up, so that she wouldn't have to use yours. I mean, we can't [i]see[/i] the person typing on the other end of the forums, all we have to go by is a username, sig, and style of typing. Two people sharing a single forum account is the Internet equivalent of one person with multiple personalities -- how do we know who we are [i]really[/i] talking to?

If you two really share an account, I highly recommend splitting up into your own accounts, one for you, one for her, so that we can tell the two of you apart. [b]Make sure[/b] you both have different e-mails, and [b]always log out[/b] from the site/forums when you're done. Don't leave any doors open for abuse.

On the other hand, it might be possible that you're just making up a story to excuse the earlier behaviour. If that's the case, stop playing games with us and grow up.

Right now, if I had to guess what the explanation is, I'd have to side with the latter.
