Why Won't It Work!

[FONT=Arial] When I go to add a story, I fill in all the neccessary info about the story thing, and when I clck on the story's link on my section list, Everything except the story itself show up. No writing, nothing. Only the title and chapter selections. Why is it doing this to me??!!

You are not alone. In fact, hardly a day's gone by when somebody [i]hasn't[/i] complained about this exact same problem! The file upload system is a new feature, yes it has a few pesky bugs, and cstdenis isn't going to see the end of these complaints until he has the time to sit down and address most of them....

But for him to do that, could you please e-mail cstdenis@fanart-central.net with the following info:
- Attach the file you tried to upload to your story
- A link to your story chapter on FAC (regardless of whether it uploaded correctly or not)
- And a short description of the problem

In the meantime, if you use MS Word,, go to the "Save As" dialog box, click on the "Save As Type" drop-down box and select "HTML Document". That should fix the problem, at least for now.

Ummm... you know I started a topic like this also? I don't think I have a "HTML Document" as one of the choices....

And here's what I was trying to post:
1. You expect real, live sweatdrops to come onto the back of peoples’ heads when the time is right.
2. When you are having problems you deal with it by saying to yourself “It’ll all be fine in the next panel, fine in the next panel…”
3. You constantly saying to random people “I wonder what genre my life is…”
4. You own more than ten complete sets of anime DVDs or manga.
5. You find yourself constantly thinking,” I wish _______ (name of person) were more like ________ (name of anime/manga character)…”
6. You have two or more bishies at a time.
7. When you miss one episode of your favorite anime, you act like your life is over until the next episode comes on.
8. You constantly mistake your friends for characters in your favorite anime/manga.
9. Your homework/tests/quizzes/binder/etc. are filled with countless doodles of your bishie.
10. You are endlessly searching on the Internet for more pictures of your bishie.
11. The minute you walk into your friends’ houses they say, “The only rule is: No talking about ________(name of bishie)”
12. You spaz out/bump into billions of people because you’re not looking at where you’re going, you’re daydreaming about… guess who? Your bishie.

If you said yes to:
1-4: You are fine, this is normal enough. You’re not an insane, raving bishie lunatic… yet
5-8: Are you broke? I would say so. Spending money on anime/manga really empties your wallet, huh? You are almost an insane, raving bishie lunatic. Keyword: almost
9-12: You are a fanatic. Period. You ARE an insane (okay, that’s a maybe), raving (okay, that’s also a maybe) bishie lunatic!!! (That’s definite) Let’s hope you don’t kill anyone once you figure out that your bishie will never REALLY be with you… *receives billions and millions of awed stares* Uhhhhh… I mean, um, you’ll live together, have a good, long life and live happily ever after! *runs away as fast as possible*

I use "Microsoft Word" Also, I tried saving as a "Word Document" and "Rich Text Format. The other choices consisted of:

Web page
WordPerfect for Windows 5.0
WordPerfect for Windows 5.0 Secondary File
Document Template
Text Only
Text Only with Line Breaks
MS-DOS Text
Encoded Text (Different languages)

There were also a lot of other ones, but I don't have time to list them all right now...

The answer is right there in your post. One of those options will save your files in HTML format . . . but which one?

Hmm . . . what are HTML documents used for . . . where do you regularly find HTML files . . . Rolling eyes

For fanfiction upload problems email the file, a link to the chapter (if anything successfully uploaded), and a short problem description to cstdenis@fanart-central.net

I'll investigate and try to fix the bugs.

This is only for uploads giving blank chapters, garbage text, or incomplete text (cut off part way through).
