Mine would have to be the end boss on Parasite Eve 2. That - THING - is practically invincible! I have tried to defeat it so many times now, and have yet to do so. Bear in mind I've (well, my brother has) had this game for years now! He hasn't managed to beat it, either. I absolutely HATE IT!!!
I agree on the Goldeneye invincible cheat, it is beyond difficult to get. I've spent many pointless nights trying to get it! |

I actually got the invincibility cheat for goldeneye. My absolute worst moment ridge racer 64. I just can't seem to get the galaga spaceship secret car, and dracula in castlevania X was also one of the absolute most difficult moments. |

Hunter: The Reconing. I screwed myself over. I was at what I thought was the final boss: Carpenter. Since I had a good 15 lives, I was carless and overconfident, not trying to preserve them. I beat Carpenter with three lives left, where I found out he was NOT the final boss. What was worse is that the game auto saves, meaning that there was no way to go back and try it again. So now I am stuck on the Big Boss with about 2 lives. And this guy is friggin' HARD!!! There is no way I can beat this guy with only 2 lives, meaning my only option is to start over. Dammit. <_< _________________

That zombie dragon thing in XenoSaga episode one. Apparently I never selected the correct skills I needed to beat that freak. That boiled down to around 20 hours of watching inane cut-scenes and about 5 hours of actual gameplay. . .all For NOTHING!! |

Starfox for the NGC.. The bit where you're flying around on the pterodactyl's back and those things come out of the spires. The tower things... You have to destroy 4 towers WHILE being blasted to oblivion with mad little missile s**t-head things...
Not fun.. If anyone knows how to do this, tell me PLEASE.. I need to get past it.. I still havnt done it |

Might I suggest curling up in a ball and weeping? That's what I do, and it works pretty well for me. ^_^ _________________

I remember my first Tomb Raider game...
I had to run towards someplace and a big rock came rolling to me, so you had to jump that boulder, run further quickly into a hole with spikes (don't hit the spikes) so another rock won't hit you. Jump over lava, avoid another rock etc etc AAAAAAARRRRRGGGH
It took me forever! Never doing that level again! |

Hah! The first Tomb Raider took me ages to complete, but I did. The same did not apply to the sequels. I lost my patience with them - me and any of the sequels usually resulted in me swearing loudly at the screen as Lara died YET AGAIN. I swear I could have almost smashed my TV up. |

I am in complete agreement. I don't know how many times I've seen Lara get squashed.
Then again, I don't know how many times I've seen her get impaled/eaten/blown up/break her bones. Actually, sometimes I just let her die for the fun of it. It makes you feel better after trying to do something for the 1000th time. Especially if you make her dive from a huge height to the floor.
I will never touch a Tomb Raider again, though. FAR too frustating. |

Never heard of that... What does JSRF stand for? I'm curious now.
Another frustrating game - well, more like a frustrating difficulty level on a game. MGS extreme level! I managed the game on hard, but extreme was impossible! |

How about the original DOOM on nightmare? That was designed to be impossible on your own. All enemies respawn and there are much more than usual. Even on co-op mode it's nearly impossible. Now games have to be all balanced and stuff and because they have room for more content in games, the difficulty is lower nowadays. Older games have the same amount of average playing hours as newer games, just because you lost more often. That's not really a good thing, but it does give you that instantly recognisable feeling of older games. You knew games because they had this or that level that was just impossible to beat. It's good that we see the return of that gameplay a little in ninja gaiden and castlevania for example. Sure brings back memories.
I remember a good one: jumping on platforms in turok 1 for the N64. That was absolutely horrible. Sometimes it felt like a first person platform game. |
