Simple question: Who here likes techno? What genre? Who is your favorite artist?
...
Then again I could be alone here. Either way, voice your opinion. _________________

Who wants a glowstick and some E? (unless you want Oxies, which I actually have a prescription of)
Yeah. I dunno any artists. Less it's a club or something, I'm not much of a techno person anyway. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Hooray! A relavent reply!
I was pretty much sure that this topic had started off nowhere and had gone even less. _________________

I quite like techno, but I couldn't name you an artist. It's the perfect kind of music for when you're drunk on vodka I think it's an acquired taste from what other people have told me. |
So do you want the oxies or not?
I give up.
I find techno music to be great background music for when I have to study or something. It just helps me relax and get into a groove. _________________

Okay how can you be drunk on vodka if you never tasted it?
Okay I'm going to try talking about it.
What kind do you like? Trance? hard style? or just plain techno? 'Cos trance I can understand if you listen to it. |

"acquired taste" means it's something you have to get used to, Lexar. Something you don't like right away but do after trying it a few times. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I LOVE trance its so calming and relaxing, puts me to sleep ^_^ but hardcore rave always gets me pumped up, basically any form of techno suits me. _________________ I'm just a simple MEGGY MAE. |

i like techno, but i don't own any techno albums or anything. i like good remixes and things like that. it's fun to dance to and i used to fall asleep to techno night on the radio. the steady beats were strangely calming. _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

Precisely!
I just love the fast-paced techno. Great for getting really hyped up! Combined with vodka, it's the only thing that can ever persuade me to dance. |

Oooh I love techno!!!
And I got some names to back it up. Aphex Twin of course.... if you're into techno, whether you like him or not, you know the name. But to me Richard D. James is king. My favorite album by him is the 2nd selected ambient works. Takes a bit to get into but it's incredible.
Um, hell I'll just some other insanely awesome techno artists.
Boards of Canada : they have such a unique sound, that is very progressive, and stays the same throughout all their cds. If you don't have cd by this band I highly ... highly recomend it.
Amon Tobin : He started out jazzy, and he's got some serious beats. Some hardcore techno... it's pretty badass.
U-zig: more than half of his stuff is good. The album I like best by him is royal astronomy.
Plaid: most of their stuff is pretty good
Chemical brothers: Yeah, well they are good. Um... but I hate dig your own hole. To me it's a real lack luster album, the rest of their stuff is soo much better.
I even have a local techno band cd. He's called Dosh. Half his stuff is good. It's interesting to see him live though, he doesn't just play on a board, he has instruments that he plays and samples right on the spot.... and he does it very well.
Ok well there's my 2 cents. I was gonna check out this thread earlier, but I was afraid of what people would say....cause a lot of people have a very objective opinion towards techno. |

lately i've been getting into chicks on a speed. they're a multi-national electronica chick band. cool stuff. it's not full-on techno, but i think it'd still fit into the category... _________________ i fought the war, but the war won |

Yeah, I've always liked techno. You need some tilzs Will. Check out www.sonicfury.net I recomend Internet Mix volume 5, Chaos Theory and Panzer 303. Some of the best techno (it's mostly acid techno/freeform stuff leaning towards trance at times) I've ever heard. |
