Well my all time favorite videogame soundtrack is to a cult classic video game called Enemy Zero. The soundtrack was compsed by Michael Nyman. And it is one of the best scores I've ever heard.

Mountain dewwroo said Halo. Yeah that's a good ass sound track too. But I'm telling you all, the Enemy Zero soundtrack even blows the hell out of any final fantasy soundtrack(don't fight me on that one). Another few favorites, of mine are the Panzer Dragoon Saga OST That graces 2 wonderful cds, and zwei has a killer soundtrack too.

VR jay mentioned the jet set radio soundtrack. I liked the japanese soundtrack for the first game, the us one brought in rob zomibe (which doesn't belong on that game)

The last game I'll mention is X-men 2 clone wars(last good xmen game) had a very badasss soundtrack too.

And here I was thinking that a thread like this would be seen in Game Discussion.

Anyway, I have a lot of favorite songs from various games. Tunes that I've memorized and can hum out in their entirety (or sometimes, even recall the exact sound of it).

So, where to begin, where to begin... I know! RPG's!

Secret of Mana (SNES)
- Standard boss music. Classic 90's "boss rock". There's no mistaking that it is "game" music.
- Final dungeon (Mana Fortress) BGM. Again, no mistaking that this is "game" music at heart. BGM to summarize the journey of the entire game with.
- World Map BGM (after Dryad Temple reveals itself as a large temple with ancient technological catacombs underneath). I'm a fan of quiet, ominous tunes like this one. I've seen MIDI's of it available.
- Final boss music. I've seen MIDI's available as well.

Sieken Denstetsu 3 (aka SoM2)
- Standard boss music. There's actually seven or eight standard boss tunes, but one of them is a cool remix of SoM's final boss music. That's the one.

Final Fantasy 1
- Victory fanfare. I still like the original better than all the remixes.

Final Fantasy 5
- BGM while Riding the dragon around the world map. Same melody as the End Credits BGM.
- Gilgamesh battles BGM.

Final Fantasy 6
- Opera house BGM. The ragtime piano music had a cool honky-tonk reverb sound back on the SNES. The FF Anthology version of the BGM just wasn't the same (but the song on the music CD is)....
- Standard boss music. What can I say, I'm a fan of good ol' 90's "boss-rock".
- Special boss music (i.e. Atma Weapon, Goddesses)
- Final boss musics. The orchestration's prtty cool, but what I like best about it is how it segues between four tunes as you progress through the four stages of the final encounter.

Final Fantasy 7
- World map BGM (late game, when Meteor is in the sky). Quiet and ominous world map tunes.
- Airship BGM. I love the airship musics.
- "Chocobo Wipeout" BGM, heard when Chocobos are seen in battle and also the Gold Saucer's snowboarding game.

Final Fantasy 8
- Standard combat and boss musics. I haven't really played much of FF8, but I like these two.

Final Fantasy 9
- World map BGM. A recurring melody throughout discs 1~3, several remixes.
- Airship BGM. I call it "The Best Damn Airship Music Period."

Final Fantasy X
- A Fleeting Dream - track #25 at the Luca Theater; BGM around the ruined Zanarkand area.
- Moment of Truth - track #37 at the Luca Theater; BGM during the trial.
- Via Purifico - track #52 at the Luca Theater; BGM after the trial. Sad, beautiful piano music.
- Boss music from the battle against Seymour Omnis. It reminds me of the good old-school boss-rock.

Final Fantasy X-2
- Yuna' Theme - Used in various mini-games.
- Rikku's Theme - Also used in various mini-games.
- Final boss BGM.

* * * *

Next, for the lighter side of RPG's, such as....

Super Mario RPG (SNES)
- All mini-game BGM's: the river ride, minecart ride, the race up Booster Hill, and the Yoshi Races.
- "Culex" secret boss music. A remix of FF4's standard boss music.
- Final boss music. There are two, but the first one I like better than the second. Must be the pipe organ.

Paper Mario
- Bowser boss music.
- "Koopa Bros." boss music.
- "Huff N Puff" boss music. Classic boss-rock.
- Final boss music.

Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga
- "Popple & Rookie" boss music.
- Fawful boss music (except I can't remember how it went....)
