I'd have to say none of them were scary, but by far RE0 was the best. Yes very short but the graphics were stunning and it had an awesome plot. I really like when that guy on the train's head falls off.
9/10 |

I liked Resident Evil 3 and Resident Evil: Outbreak..I'd say RE:Outbreak was scarier and better. 9/10 for Scariness and 10/10 for Graphics. ^_^ _________________ "Don't Worry, Just Because I Don't Talk to You, Doesn't mean I Hate You!"

I definately love the REmake for the Gamecube. Same with Code Veronica, they're both about even, but I have to give props to the REmake considering it's a totally redone and rehashed version of the original. Not many series remake the first game in a series, rescripting and renewing, or do it as well as Capcom did. Plus there's Crimson Heads. Although none of them are exactly "scary" or "horrifying," they definately deliver a delightful thrill of decapitating zombies, holding ground against Cerebuses or narrowly escaping a horde after horde of undead.
6/10 Scare Factor
10/10 Gameplay Factor
RE2 was probably one of the scarriest of the entire series. Just considering it's the one game of the whole series that throws just about every suprising scare at you. From hands busting through a window to a Licker crashing through an interrogation window. RE2 definately excells in it's innovative gameplay and loud surprises.
9/10 Scare Factor
8/10 Gameplay Factor
Every game in the series is definately great, although I never got to play Outbreak or the Dead Aim games. Never held much interest to anyway.
Resident Evil 0, although short (longer than the REmake, however) held a lasting memory and impression on many, many Gamecube owners. The graphics are definately excellent, and remains true to the serie's fixed camera and pre-rendered backgrounds. Besides, what's more sinister than a big ol' nasty parisite queen?
Resident Evil Original was definately the game that deserves the most recognition because it was the breathing grounds for the incredibly infamous and innovative Resident Evil 2.
Resident Evil 3 was good, but not great considering it was rushed by the producers after a bad developing decision. Originally to be a side-scroller, RE3 was put on shelves as one of the more confusing titles on the market. Half the game took place before the RE2 plot line, and the last half took place after all that crazy RE2 stuff. It focused on Jill, who may I say looks fine, and Nemisis, the giant T-Virus infused stalker with a big ol' rocket launcher. Although the game was neither hard, nor too scary, it probably was one of the most adrenaline-inducing considering you were relentlessly attacked by zombies and worst of all, Nemisis. Part way through the game you meet up with this badass who's mission is to eliminate you. Well isn't that all fine and dandy... Running for your life in the confined corridors of Raccoon City have never been so much fun.
Resident Evil: Code Veronica was one of those games that many people anticipated, but no one believed would be a sucess. Although it lacks the merits of a movie (like RE1, 2 and 3), it is definately one of the turning points in the series. RE2 was excellent, but RE3 was (admitably) a sleeper hit. Then Code Veronica reared its ugly head and guess what! RECV became one of the most memorable and most loved game of the series. It provides the classic RE-style gameplay and clashes it with a cool plot infused with an abundance of new enemies, weapons and characters. The game is certainly long, and playing on the hardest difficulty makes enemies a lot more sinister. And you get a sniper rifle! |

Well, when you consider 'scary,' I'll have to say Resident Evil 1. The reason for this was that I'd never played a game like it before, and so could never see the 'scary' parts coming. They freaked me out completely.
The game doesn't scare me like it used to, but I'd still say it was the game that scared me most. After that, I got used to the Resident Evil formula and could see scares coming, so the series wasn't as scary as I first found it (unlike Silent Hill, which remains scary no matter how many times you play it). Still excellent games though!
Best game was probably Resi 2 - it was the fullest game and one you always found yourself coming back too.
Worst (of the main ones anyway) was Resi 3. Yeah, I know it was good, just not - great, y'know? I liked the Nemesis character, but the others ones just weren't that appealing. Although the extra game was top-notch. |

I have only played RE remake, RE0, and the Famitsu RE4 demo. But I would say the remake is the scariest and RE4 is the most fun but RE0 would be next in fun. |

I think RE2 was the best, with the original closely behind. Veronica X in 3rd. _________________ "You know what? My squirrel instinct tells me he's even more of a bastard than I first thought." - Gene Hunt |

It is the scariest jumping out of your wits (only at midnight and in pitch black) kinda game _________________ No matter what happens, even if you become the world's enemy,I'll be your knight.- Squall-Final Fantasy VIII

OK i agree totally that Silent Hill is scary but out of all of them i reckon the third was kinda scary (now they have made a film about the third game cant wait to see it) _________________ No matter what happens, even if you become the world's enemy,I'll be your knight.- Squall-Final Fantasy VIII

I'd go with RE2. That game was just such a step up from the first. Plus it had great set-pieces, like the gun shop and the giant train-lift. And it had things I haven't seen again. Zombie's arms getting torn off anyone? |

Re2 for N64 was probably my favourite. Just because it was the first Resident Evil game I played and I look upon it fondly
RE Nemesis for gamecube is probably the scariest. Nemesis is a pretty freaky bad guy. It's a short game so if you want to play a game during a weekend, I would recommend this one.
Re4 is a momentous game. Maybe one of the best games ever. It's a must play. |
