You have any idea how much Kirk Hammet sucks? I've heard the same solo from him on at least 16 songs. Imagination might help in the music business, Kirky.
And never EVER say Metallica rules the world because they most certainly DON'T. I can only think of around 5 bands that could "rule the world" and Metallica doesn't come close.
1. Led Zeppelin
2. Kiss
3. Guns N' Roses
4. Black Sabbath
5. Jimi Hendrix
Not listed in the way I'd prefer to rule.
Metallica is, shall I say, repetitive. I've heard the same riffs, the same solos, and the same boring lyrics. Their old stuff was better than the new and the old stuff will never be as good as anything by Zeppelin, Sabbath, and Hendrix.
Anyone care to argue me that Tony Iommi, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and Slash aren't better guitarists than Hammet?
Please, step up, because I beg of you an argument here.

Meh, did anyone really want to see them talk about their feelings and "hear where you're comin' from, man"? Complete cha-ching decision. Put out a movie of you rockin' someone's ass off, not going to therapy. Hell, even DLR's BBQ video was better.

They used to be kinda cool. Never liked their music, though.

Hammet gets all this "BEST METAL GUITARIST EVER" crap. Does ANYONE listen to Black Sabbath, Jimi, or Zeppelin?

It's not just about guitars you know. There is more to metallica then Kirk Hammet, just like there is more to GnR then Slash. You say Metallica suck cuz Hammet repeats himself, but it's no just about hammet.

Slet, maybe the guitarists decide everything for my choice in music. Maybe, just maybe, I don't care about Jame's voice or lyrics. Maybe I also think Ulrich is a terrible drummer. Maybe I think the bassist is bad too. Maybe I concentrate more on Hammet because he gets all the fuckin' HYPE.
He uses powerchords so damn much. Hand him a chord chart, someone.
Slet, for a moment, just try to imagine that I don't look too deep into music when the guitars are rudimentary and the shows I've seen made me wanna go to sleep.
Please, for a second. You know. I mean, yeah, Slash ain't the only person in Gn'R, but he's the one I like to hear. Yeah, maybe Page wasn't the only person in Led Zeppelin, but he's the one I idolize. Maybe Iommi wasn't the only person in Black Sabbath, but he's the only one I...you see a pattern?
Hammet isn't all too unique. Neither is Hatfield or Ulrich.
But I play guitar so the guitar appeals to me. Lyrics come after guitar.
So, I've heard, I don't like, I say "Screw you Hammet".

Oh, but who can't love Lars' sound on St. Anger? I love the sound of someone beating on a tin can.... Razz

That special snare he has is annoying as anything.
I would have preferred Dave Mustane as guitarist. The dude has more imagination. Not as machine like.
Wonder who Axl's talking to about replacing Buckethead.... Wonder if Sluckethead is having a good laugh about that. Razz

You can say what you want, but Hammet does some pretty nifty stuff, that you can't copy.

btw. I recently learned to play the November rain solos and I must say it's freaking cool to play them.

I'm damn sure I can play powerchords and I'm good at one string improv. I wouldn't wanna copy him anyways. I'm working on covering Guns N' Roses.
November Rain is awesome. I like to play it in Jazz Band.

metallica, although not the greatest in the world, is still listenable by me. i enjoy some of their songs while others i loathe. it really depends on your taste in music, whether you're a music activist (cough*fallen/flea*cough) or just someone looking for something to listen while you drown out your sorrows in whiskey and jager. but then again, there is dozens of bands i would enjoy listening to more than metallica. :D

ac/dc didn't get to the fame status that they were at by changing their sound. Cool

AC/DC also wrote humerous, honest, and hella awesome anthems. Last thing I heard from Metallica didn't have a solo and the lyrics weren't clear.
"Some Kind Of Monster" doesn't make much sense. He's refering to someone, or thing, as a monster. Then ends with "We the people". Guess we're the monsters?
I'd think the system would be. Officials.
I prefer AC/DC over Metallica. At least Angus had a kick ass stage performance.
I saw Metallica's performance in Atlanta. It was nothing like other metal bands of their time. The Crue had an awesome stage show, as did Guns N' Roses and AC/DC. Metallica just kind of stayed there. No movements or actions.
My opinions are my own.

"i've got big balls" was a freakin' great song. Laughing but you're right, i do prefer ac/dc over metallica more. not because theire lyrics were better or their live preformance was better (which it WAS), but because they WERE better. better guitarists, bassists, vocalists... hell, their old bon scott stuff was pretty sweet. then again, they pretty much changed their band members like i do underpants. in the end the only original ac/dc members were the two angus brothers, wasn't it?

I have no doubt that you can play power chords. Question is (and I doubt it, without felling better, zu I can't either), do you have the speed that Kirk has? And I don't mean stuff like enter sandman, I mean things like battery, master of puppets, creeping death. It's almost impossible to play as fast as kirk does there.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest Metallica fan in the world btw.

I would have said "improbable", but since my idol Jimmy Page smoked Hammet with "White Summer", I'm gonna say that I'll try as best I can to be as fast as possible. ^_^
But I move my fingers around non stop in school. AIR GUITAR CHAMPION!!!1 Very Happy
I cheated because I really can play.... Laughing

They should've called it a day when they were still cool. Sad Even if I don't like the band, they were still cool guys. Now their music is tired, and they're releasing videos of themselves talking about their feelings. Not everyone can keep the energy and quality as well as some (Bowie, AC/DC, Poison, love 'em or hate 'em, they've still got it).

I don't want to see metal gods talk about understanding each other, dammit!

No, the Gods of Heavy Metal are Kiss and Black Sabbath.
By the way, both bands kick Metallica's ass.
I would love Metallica if Dave Mustaine wasn't kicked out for acting like a rocker.
