Fluently, I can speak English and Hainam (a stupid useless language that'll probably be obliterated from the face of the planet in the next 100 years).

I can carry short conversations in French and Japanese.

I can speak Mandarin and Cantonese, but not well enough to carry a conversation. I can still speak a bit, though. The problem with speaking in a conversation is that you have to be able to respond well enough, and I'm not too good at that (small vocabulary). ^^; My parents used to make me take a Mandarin course, but I stopped - Japanese = higher priority. Besides which, I'm not really interested in that language. :/

I know English and html. What? It's a language.

I really wish I could speak a second language, but my Spanish teacher did nothing but give us busy work all year, so we didn't learn anything. Making your students look up every other word in a Spanish-to-English dictionary isn't going to teach anyone anything, lady.

If I do learn any other languages I'd want to learn Spanish first, Russian second, and finally, sign language.

Oh Lord...languages? Well...I only speak to. English of course and I speak a little ASL. I only know basic words like colors, numbers, school words, house words, furniture, et cetera. I wish I knew other languages. Actually my one friend is planning on teaching me Dutch. He hasn't gotten around to it yet though. . . . .

Anybody speak Esperanto? There was someone around here who was trying to get people to recruit for Esperanto lessons. (He didn't get much volunteers).

-Waray-waray
-English

I'm currently taking Spanish, but yeah, it's not enough to be able to carry a conversation.

Well, at the schools I've been to, in high school, you're required to take a minimun of two years of a language, so right now I'm in Spanish II(and my Spanish Semester exam is tomorrow, argh) I'm better at writing Spanish than verbally speaking it, but I'm getting better at it.

I used to take Japanese at my old school in elementary and middle school, but she left Sad But I have most of my notes and such, so one day, I'd like to relearn Japanese.

English (duh) and Japanese

With Japanese, my vocabulary still isn't as extensive as it should; but if I know the words, I can probably say the sentence
I can read it (Hiragana and Katakana wise) but I only know about 100/125 kanji or so (been REALLY slacking with that)

I used to know some French, but I was TERRIBLE at the language and gave up @.@;;; wish I hadn't (stupid kid decision)

And living in California sort of forces you to learn Spanish, but this is yet another language I can't quite seem to grasp T.T;;;;;;;;; (which is frustrating since everyone seems to think it's so easy @.@;;)

I'd like to learn Korean ^^ hopefully someday

I can speak english and some french. I'm in French 3 Honors so I should know more than I do. ^_^ I really want to learn Japanese, especially before I ever visit Japan. It would make things a tad easier aswell. Wink

Deutsch? Sehr langweilig? Quite the opposite. When I was learning it in middle school, I thought it was fun...but then I am a language nut and learn new languages as a hobby...

Languages I know:

Russian (I can read in Russian too)
Italian
a bit of German (I'm forgetting it already...need to keep practicing!)
currently taking Japanese lessons
and English of course

I want to learn Spanish...I live in California and Spanish might well become the official language here...and I want to learn some Mandarin...maybe some other languages too...I don't think I'll ever stop learning other languages in my lifetime.

I've never heard of Esperanto and Waray-waray...could someone tell me more about the languages and the people who speak them?

Esperanto is pretty much a modern language. It's a made-up language that consists of many of the rules from other widely spoken languages.

Waray-waray is one of the many native languages of Filipinos. These sites can give you a better understanding of it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Waray-Waray_language

http://www.flw.com/languages/waraywaray.htm

Before I moved to the U.S., I lived in Leyte, so waray-waray is my native language. Smile
