I see a lot of kids asking for comments and ranking and such and then get more than angry when they aren't told what they want to hear T_T;;;

One particular girl (not on FAC) seemed to think that by saying she could "improve this and that" meant I thought she sucked and should give up drawing forever (her reply "I know you want me to stop, but you can't make me")

WTF?

So why is it, when people ASK to be "ranked" and you get anything below a 10 T.T they decide the only thing to do is blow up in the face of the person who took the time to do what they asked?

Options? comments?

oh, yes, my furry friend, it is indeed annoying. Personally, I love to be ranked because if the ranker is truely honest to their opinion, then you know that you have areas in your talent that need improvement, and you know what to do... usually, unless they don't tell you why you got a 4/10.

and my word to that one chick: GGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Frankly, my pet peeve is the "OMG thats so good!" comment. this (in various forms) makes up the bulk of comments given by users. I try to say [i]why[/i] its good, what could use improvement, or in the very least make my comment somewhat intersting to read. <_<

Amen to that. I like to know what I can improve on. Fangirls are worse, though. I got a comment on a picture of Sephiroth...

Right...that helps me so much. And, no, the picture is mine and the character belongs to Square. <_< Idiots. They could at least tell me [i]why[/i] they think it looks good, and I don't mean because he's "OMG HAWT!1!one!eleven"

People also complain the other way too, about only getting good comments when they want constructive criticism.

People always seem to need something to complain about.

Some people like ANY type of comments, and are happy for getting just any comment like "OMG CUTE!" ..some have confidence so they dont need others telling them whats wrong with their pictures unless they ask for it, and some REALLY like criticism and like to criticise, while some artists and not all think criticism is very mean Surprised

* i dont think that way..* ..many artists dont bother to delete any comments even if they were pointless.

x-x; I don't really complain about the comments I am given. But you know, if I get something stupid like " KAWAII!!!!" and of course the like, I mostly leave it there, so that when another person comes around they can be like "wtf why did you call that Kawaii? It's f**king stupid!" and then have a whole warzone in my picture, which is funny. Very Happy

But when the Kawaii starts breeding more "OMG so cute!" then it's just going to get me moody. Then I get delete happy.

Also, I delete off all my older pictures. x-x; Cause if they click the one at the top of the list without using a thumbnail, they are going to see some of my oldest work and they are going to be like "Jez, this girl sucks. She needs to get her some.. um.. what's it called? Talent?" and they just post it on every picture. That pisses me off. If you aren't going to give me contructive such as

" That right hand needs to be a little bigger" or "you drawing your arms a little to long" then I am happy, because I can fix that. But if you are going to drown me with comments about "OMG THAT IS SO FRICKIN' CUTE!!!!!1111one1one" and "YOU SUCK! YOU NEED TO GET DELETED OFF OF THE WEBSITE".... you might want to stay back, cause I will sic my freaky dollz on ya.

THE ONLY TIME when I ever say "aww that's so cute" is when I am playing around with people I know. BTW.. Don't you look at my pictures. >> I mean it. I will sic my freaky dollz on ya just because I posted in here. Nu. I am not in a dire need for constructive or regular ol' comments at the moment. Drop me a line is fine, but don't bombard me... I do have an twitchy delete finger....

Heh, I'd rather get more comments with insight and constructive critisim rather than, "OMG! KAWAII!" but hey, I'm not complaining...I do mostly Yu-Gi-Oh art, so a lot of the people commenting on my work are younger, and, dare I say it, less mature...if I deleted every one of those comments consisting of one word dragged out across the page (example: "WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW") I probably wouldn't have anything left...

I haven't asked anyone to rate my work yet...maybe I should. *shrugs*

i personally dont really mind. I like it when ppl like my work. It helps ya confidence to draw and post up more. Ok sure its good to get hints and tips aswell and things to improve on. The only thing i hate is ppl who just go around saying
"OMG! That sucks!" and stuff like that

Is that site you go to called neopets? i hate that neopet site!!!!! waaaaaaaaaahhh!!!!!!!! they always report people for the most stupit reasons!!!!!!!!
Most of those people suck on that site...... (runs trips and smashes nose and laughts) WUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!
I mostly leave nice coment on peoples work '=' i just don't like to say "Your art suxs" and stuff like that '=' i mostly say "Not bad keep up the work '=' " or " wow nice work '=' keep on doing it '=' don't give up! looks great '=' "

But i agree, don't ask for it unless your prepared for an honest opinion. Which is fine and great to help you improve but hey, i guess some people just can't handle it. Pretty sad really, i kind of feel sorry for them. But yeah, on another note, i agree with Jay about the "OMG that's so good!" comments. Those annoy the hell out of me. But here are some others that really annoy me

"good"
"i like it"
"pretty"
"That's nice"

I mean, they aren't even 5 words, hell, they aren't even 4! What's wrong with these people!

well that would be flaming, not critiquing

It happens, and when it does you really just have to know not to take it to heart (it's usually people either mad-at-you or trying to get you mad)

Y'know, Lasher, one of my pictures received a one-word comment like that just today. I swear, that comment's going straight into the bit bucket once somebody leaves a better one....

I always feel flattered when somebody thinks I'm great but doesn't say [i]why[/i]. Loathe as I might be to admit it, I do have some developed skills with my works and there are many who don't have the same skills experience to do the same, so naturally they think highly of what's better than theirs.

But still...

Comments dropped on my pictures I subject to survival of the best. Good comments stay, useless comments (namely "That's so kewl!" and one-words) go. They don't have to be full-blown critiques to be good, not by far. If they even mention one specific thing about the picture, or give a little more explanation behind the "I love it!", that's good enough to stay.

couldnt have said it better myself! everyone needs to bitch. hey I get quite a few views on my pics for someone not drawing Anime, chibis, or furry little creatures. I could do realism but I like my own brand of comic art and I dont get many comments. sh*t on DA one of my pics where flamed up and down by some no name that thinks hes the best since sliced bread. you let it go, that was his problem. I seem to get more comments on DA but alot are "woo shes got really big ones" hey I laugh and say thanks. its better than no comment cause all the ones here saying they hate the "cool" comments...if you recieved no comments, youd be asking for them...

...ah hence the pearl of wisdom I quoted at the top of this nonsence. you go Lasher!
