South Australian authorities have said they will kill a shark that tore apart a young surfer near a popular city beach as his friends reportedly tried to save him by beating the animal with oars.

http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/asiap...k.ap/index.html

"Any large shark, in close proximity to the beaches of our state, particularly the city of Adelaide, should be destroyed. Officers are authorized to take whatever necessary action to ensure the destruction of a shark posing risk."

So what do y'all think? Is it necessary to kill this animal?
Let's debate the concept of revenge killing of animals for human safety.
a 16 footer must be an old shark. Did the surfer know that sharks live in the ocean, especially around Australia?

If sharks don't like you, don't get close to them.

It's a risk they take. If the same shark does it over and over(hence, the true story of Jaws), yeah, kill it, but not every single one.
Yeah, y'all, Jaws was based off truth, however loosely.

most sharks are more afraid of humans than we are of them. You have to keep in mind, the usual image people have with sharks, is also the rarest kind of sharks. Most sharks are maybe 2 feet long, and look like your regular everyday fish actually.

i say we genetically enhance a bunch of sharks, put them in an underwater lab and have a bunch of teenage wanabe scientists flaunt around the laboratory while accidentally releasing all of the sharks into the ocean where they can play with all the other sharkies.

then we can blow them up with explosive barrels. Smile
