I like Avril (a lot) but in no way is she close to being the best ever. _________________ |

I've actually heard an Aerosmith song on a commerical today. It was for some kind of car and in the backround "Dream On" was playing. It made me laugh for some reason.
Yeah, you're probably right about people not hearing of them. I once mentioned in my art class that Steve Tyler makes an apperence in Polar Express and a few people said, "Who?" And me and the only guy who knew who Slash was almost went on a twenty minute rave about Aerosmith. Ahhh...good times, good times. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I think the amount of airplay "Girls Of Summer" got on VH1 (let alone MTV) shows exactly how well known they are among the youth of today. Sad sad sad. But hey, at least they got the special 2 hour Behind the Music and Icon show. Even if everyone who performed on the Icon show butchered the songs and made me want to kill someone (come on, Shakira and Pink singing Aero songs? WHAT?!). _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

You're joking when you say that, right? Please say that you're joking. Even if you have to lie to me, just say it so I don't lose all hope for the music industry.
And I thought Aero's saddest moment was at the Superbowl when they sang Walk This Way with Brittany Spears and Justin Timberlake. <_<
I've never seen any of those Behind the Music Specials about Aerosmith. Makes me very sad when I think about that. Although today on VH1 there was the 100 Greatest Artists in Hard Rock. I seriously watched this three hour show, waiting for Guns 'n Roses and Aerosmith to come on (they were way down on the list.) And right when they got to Aerosmith, I had to set the table. Three hours of waiting for a little Aero reconition and I miss it 'cuz my mom has "wonderful timing." <_< Oh well, I made it in time to catch what people had to say about how great Guns 'n Roses were.
If anyone's interested, Aerosmith made number 11, Guns 'n Roses was number 9, and number 1 was Led Zeplin
And now for some reason, I'm listening to Dude (Looks Like a Lady) Its all this commercial talk, I reckon. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

I've watched that show so many times... Sabbath is number 2. Ozzy is number 18.
The super bowl was pretty bad. But at least they were in it. The Idol show was "paying tribute" to them, and they had supposed "hit artists" of today perform their songs. Pink sang Janie's Got a Gun. PINK sang Janie's Got a Gun. I thought the world was going to end. Steve had his little boy on his lap for a lot of the show. Shakira sang Dude (Looks Like a Lady). And sounded as much like a goat as ever. She absolutely killed the song. Then she shook her ass over to where they boys were and had Steve join her for all of two lines.
But what can you expect from MTV? They did do a little show at the end, but only one song (Girls of Summer) was shown. They did another during the credits, but I don't remember what it was. So very sad. Not a tribute to Aero as idols at all. They could've at least gotten some of their peers instead of pop princesses. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I would've loved to have seen some of their peers perform their hits. Actually, it would be so awesome to hear Slash play the riff of Walk This Way. He'd totally make it his own. Axl could probably do a good job of singing like Steve Tyler. They both can do the rock scream pretty well (which is why I love Steve Tyler so much. In my opinion, he's one of the few rock artists who can scream and yet is sounds so good that it can still beat the crap out of many pop voices.) Am I the only one who thinks that Steve Tyler and Axl sound alike...even just a little bit? ^^; _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

A little bit. Steve's got more of a David Lee Roth-esque scream going on, where Axl is a bit rougher. And Steve is a more consistent live performer than hot or cold Axl. But they do sound similar.
And aren't they cute together?

*Dreamy sigh* So wonderful when two ledgends of rock are together. Dude, I'm gonna print this piccy and put this in my section of my locker (I share my locker with three other people who so far have put up with me writing "SLASH IS THE MAN" all over the locker or "AEROSMITH ROCKS" and other random devotions of undying love to my fave bands. Oh and I must not forget the designs of my Slash ceramic piece that I hung up 'cuz I was so proud of it. ^_^ ) We need pictures in our locker anyway. Besides my random shout outs, its pretty bare. <_< This'll be a good start. And that way, all my friends will actually remember who Axl Rose is now. I've taught them who Slash was in a week. It was easily the hardest week of their lives. Now they need to remember Axl as more than "the jerk who caused GnR to break up." *Cough* Probably my fault they think that and its the Slash guy's fault for my thinking that.
Was Steve Tyler and Axl in that Hearing Aid Fund? This just randomly popped up in my head but I can't help but wonder that. I mean, could Axl put up with all those other stars with his gigantic ego matched with theirs? _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Is it me or has Metallica not even been mentioned?
Personally, Metallica is my favorite. I used to listen to "Enter Sandman" every night before I went to sleep. Haha that was a fun little ritual I started because I get bored like that.
Not even mentioned? |

Lmao Fallen
I still can't believe Metallica was not even mentioned once. Even if you don't like them it's still one of the more popular bands
Queen should be in there too. I mean, where would we be without hearing about fat bottomed girls and bicycle races? |

Did you miss the post where I said the "real" bands don't matter? It's not the point of this thread. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

Oh yea, forgot about that....
In that case, the best new CD of mixed bands HAS to be this Jay-Z LP mix |

I'd say this thread could give interesting results, but there's no way to ever judge the "best" band of all time 'cause they all have different strengths and purposes. You can't compare Led Zeppelin to Nirvana, for example, because one worked with great musical talent and the other wasn't about that. It always comes down to a person's personal favorite in a given selection of "great" bands, or what a person looks for most in a band (excellent singer, guitar skills, how well they work together, overall energy, whatever).
Besides, Flea could never list all the "great" bands. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

well, really. He should've let everyone state and explain their choice. If they really thot that they were the greatest of all time, then the voter shouldn't of had to look through a poll to remember that. _________________ <MARQUEE>

You're right, silly me. I should have included Metallica.
Although all Metallica really is is whining lyrics stuck in a metal vibe. I'm telling you, it's freaking true. _________________ Not all who wander are lost.

Are you sure? I haven't heard ALL of their songs, but none of them sounded like complaints to me. But you are right about the metal. But think about this:
