Okay, ever since Christmas I've been listening to the Franz Ferdinand CD many MANY times. Their music is becomming very addictive and I just can't seem to stop listening!
Hokay, so, the whole point of this thread...
Is it me or does Franz Ferdinand look and sound familiar? I saw them live at the y100 Feastival this year and I noticed they perform quite similarly to that of The Beatles. So, what are your thoughts on anything Franz Ferdinand?? Like? Dislike? If you do like them for what reasons? If you don't.......for what reasons? Laughing

They drive me crazy. Haven't listened to enough to have much of a technical opinion about them. At least they're...different, but their songs irritate me.

Yes, at first they seemed very repetative and I couldn't listen to any of it. But, as I heard more songs and listened more and actually learned some words that went from the songs (I always draw a blank, I moreso just listen to the music itself) it began to grow on me.

They're Nothing like the Beatles. I've seen thier old houses I've BEEN IN Strawberry Fields... I don't know much about Franz Ferdinand but I am pretty certain they don't have the same reasons of making thier music as The Beatles.. If, by chance, thier music sounds alike either it's purely coincidental or Someone's ripping someone else off Rolling eyes

I don't think is the case, though.

Haha, no no, Gray, I simply meant they sound somewhat alike in certain songs. No way could the band itself be the same. They aren't even from the same country, are they? Eh, anyhow. No matter what the case the music is interestingly well played in their own way.
foreign bands keep comming
All depends where you're standing, no? To us (Brits), you're foreign and Franz Ferdinand aren't.

Oh well, I like them. Don't suppose they'll be with us for long, but they're funny and their songs are lively. I can't see much resemblance to the Beatles though.

Maybe I shall elaborate.
His guitar style is a very common one, uses a unique guitar. '72 Fender Telecaster Deluxe. I can't stand his voice simply because his lyrics are stuff I don't really care about.
The rest of his band is ok, except the stage show is crap. There he is, standing there, so very creative.
Basic beats. Basic bass. Basic guitar.
Hate the videos too. The color is blinding.

It's called "I don't like it".
Music vids nowadays aren't really worth looking at. I like the older ones...

OMG FLEA STFU UR STOOPID! Rolling eyes

Give me a break. Flea is being nice. You want him to rip the band apart down to every work they've ever said, he'll do it, but I thought what he's said so far was rather polite.

Oh, and it's not called "retro". It's no more "retro" than The Darkness videos were. There were no music videos at the time this is imitating (well there were, but it was just a couple low budget camera angles with maybe some cheap effects thrown in like pretty colors).

Now play nicely. You don't want people's opinions, don't ask in the first place. Rolling eyes

Haha, hey, I'm not complaining. I said at the beginning you can say what you like or dislike about Franz. Kour you can cool it a little Razz
It's not like Flea isn't justified in his opinion. *shrugs*

Would you like me to?
Ok, I find all new artists nowadays, excepting few, to be a waste of my time and money because they're getting big with little experience. Yes, I can stand perfectly still onstage and yes I can play 3 powerchords in simple sucession and yes I could make it doing just that while singing about love, my life, and all the wonderful things.
I won't, though. But with Ferdinand....
He's done it. Powerchords up his ass and standing as still as a statue. I already don't like his songs, so why should I watch some dude stand onstage doing what I damn well know a first grader can do?
Of course, I relate....not.
I like the old stuff. 80's, early 90's. 70's. 60's. 50's. In no way is this man imitating the Beatles. He's too damn stonelike. God, even the Beatles moved onstage.
Did I mention I dislike most rock bands named after the singer? It seems concieted to me and he's gained more attention than the rest of his band, which is better than him.
So modern music is a bunch of crud to me, big fuckin' deal.
