Serious Ffu Discussion

Ok, let me put this straight. I know there are fans of FFU, or Final Fantasy Unlimted.
Most people have never heard of it or are driven away by people who have no idea how to
critize an anime. These people complain like "eww, that show sucked or don't watch it"
They have no proof to show that the show has it's flaws. There opinions drive people away from
this anime. Final Fantasy Unlimted is its own original story, and people try to compare it to how much Final Fantasy is in it. What really matters is the STORYLINE! Sure the animation is simple, but I'm telling you that this show is a pretty good show. Hell of alot better than Pokemon or Yu-gi-oh!

The fact that no show is perfect should be proof enough that if you look hard enough for flaws, you will eventually find them. It's the specifics that can be pointed out only by those who've actually seen it.

Final Fantasy: Unlimited is an anime about two children who are trying to find their parents, who were scientists. Their parents went missing when they travelled to an alternate universe to get information about that place - they travel to this alternate universe a lot, but they never came back after this one trip. After travelling to the alternate universe, the two siblings meet a whole slew of other characters. ^^;

And that's all I can say, 'cause I've only seen the first ten episodes. Also, it was a really long time ago when I watched it, so some of that information might be wrong - offhand, I really can't remember too much about it

I stopped because it really wasn't my cup of tea - the intended audience was obviously for younger children. I didn't really like the art, either - I prefer more detailed work. This was more of a cartoon-anime. Also, I really hate random cg in anime, especially if it's poorly done or delivered. Which, unfortunately, happened in FF:U. Not only that, but I didn't find the storyline very appealing... then again, not a lot of the Final Fantasy storylines are actually that good. :/

Then again, my idea of a good time is [i]Perfect Blue[/i]. Lol.

Just kidding. IMO, It was poor, but certainly not unwatchable. I watched it all.

Here is some more...constructive comments about the series


The series was quite formulaic and repetitive. Something happens to Ai, Yu, and umm...I forget her name. Kaze comes and defeats it.

The ending was poor because it was rushed. Series was supposed to be 2 seasons, but got canceled after 1 because of poor ratings.

I also wasn't very impressed by the overall plot of the series.

It has its moments and was ok, but I dont see anything great about it.

It's an alright show. Not the best, but it is better than some other ones I've seen. I've only seen the first 12 episodes tho (the 13th one won't download )
Yeah, sure, it does get a bit repetitive, but it's still alright.

Yeah, that bugs me too, about this anime. From one moment of plain colouring, straight to cg. Erg.

The last six episodes are the best of FFU. And they changed the animation on the last episodes.
If the show went longer, the plotline would start to become good.

I don't know about everyone here, but it's actually pretty true. Although certain storylines will draw an individual in, the storylines are starting to become rather thin and repetitive. Especially after the Square/Enix merge - they've been trying to incorporate elements from both the FF series and the DQ series in their newer stuff, and it's not really that well done.

Starting from FF7 all the way to FFX-2, you can see the decline in the plots. A lot of people liked FF9 more than FF8 because of the fact that Squaresoft brought the old class character designs (case-in-point: Vivi) back, not because of the storyline. The Final Fantasy series is really just a name now - people buy the stuff not because it's particularily good, but because it bears the Final Fantasy name.

In fact, there are a lot of games out there that are much better than the Final Fantasies (eg. Tales series, Xenoseries, Star Ocean series, etc). FF:U is no different; there are a lot of anime much better than it.

That's my opinion, though, I know that others' will vary. Whatever floats your boat.

That's like a universal rule or something, franchises are always overrated.

Seriously, only a franchise like Final Fantasy can make a reinvented wheel look like the best thing since sliced bread.
