Not sure, to them, it could just be for publicity.

Dude! One of my favorite baseball players. Hideki Matsui of the New York Yankees donated $487,000 thousand!

We need more rich people like them. But nooooo. They have to spend they're $50,000 grand on getting a private jet chartered to the bahamas for their monthly spa treatment for a mere day That stuff disgust me.

I always said if i got rich, i'd make sure to donate money on a yearly basis to a good charity. I just wish more well off people would Sad I like Matsui that much more now though Smile Good man he is.

Well, perhaps. But its always better to see the good in people rather than question their ulterior motives, don't you think?

Even if its for publicity, money is still being sent and that means, aid for the Tsunami victims.

Yeppers, sure did. She's pretty cool.

I don't think any of them are doing it for publicity personally. Even though they make a crazy amount of money, people like that who do things for pubilicity don't like droppping money like that unless it's directly for them.

it sickens me that there are people who actually manage to make these sad moments in time even worse than they already are. and im talking about two types of people: the overly "helpfull" and the overly "not helpfull".

the overly helpfull ones only appear to want to obtian compliments by showing the world "how good or socially aware" they are. it's also the same type of people who want to show how "bad or socially unaware" YOU are by donating too little or even nothing (and people have reasons for not giving, but the others just dont listen).

the other group, obviously, consists of the tourists over there who are affected as well but just ly on the beach getting a tan and all. yes, ofcourse the locals tell them "no mister foreign guy we do it all you just relax" but jesus christ try to do SOMETHING! and yes i know the media can be manipulative (in times like these some people always need to get blamed for something, like me on fac getting randomly banned because the mods have problems with users Razz "i dont know what to do Surprised oh wait ill just ban grissey hehe Cool "), but still the images of those lazy tourists made me puke Grr!

I donated somewhat more than I would any other cause. It's kinda weird to give much more to this cause when for example every day 300 babies die of aids, and other parts of black africa still don't have enough food and people die because of this, yet nobody is super generous for them. So yes, I agree with grissey, I don't like the people who want to show how generous they are, by giving disproportionally much to a cause that has more media attention.
