That sounds like Self-Promotion thread material.

It's not the introductions themselves that we frown on, it's more the fact that so many newbies (both in the past, and in recent times) have created entire threads just to say "hello". That's why we created the Newbie Thread over in General Discussion....

Sometimes I still think that newbies shouldn't be allowed to create new [i]threads[/i] until they've accumulated a handful of posts, a small number like five. Not "because we can", but to teach newbies the valuable skill of finding and participating in existing threads before creating their own.
