I did not notice and still don't.

You'll burn in hell for your lies, Strata.

I also thought there was too much emphasis on the rpgs, and all the other genres were just tossed on a big 'action' pile.

Zerohour, look harder.

Lexar, okay, I'll bite; how would you define the genres? And I don't mean themes, but genres.

While we're thinking, here's a diagram I mixed up pretty quick on my end. If there are three fundamental aspects to every game, "Action" being the ability to master the controls and react quickly & instinctively to how the game progresses, "Strategy", the amount of thinking required in order to win the game, and "Narrative", the quality of progression from start to end, then in my opinion the genres could be positioned something like the below.

Of course, this ain't perfect, and everyone has their own ideas as to what qualifies for a particular category or genre.

Strata, you stupid punk, fighting games are not mentioned anywhere.

And I'm no where near as bad a mofo as Godzilla, Rita. He's off the scales.

Edit: LOL SCALES! Godzilla has scales!

RPG-Lite is a disgusting oxymoron, the whole reasoning behind playing a Role Playing Game is to take an omniscient view-point on the lives of your party. How can you seriously hope to know the inner-workings of your protagonists psyche in a few short hours?

My genre of preference is, as you can tell, (True) Role Playing Games...they are a rollercoaster of emotion - there is , sadness, greif, love, happiness, remorse, guilt...Finding a truely inspired game is more than a game, it's an experience. For a while, you can leave your own dreary existance and join a land of heroics and fantasy, where honour always prevails. Even in their bleak existances, the characters are content and forge powerful bonds with their peers...I honestly can't say the same for reailty.

I hate this escallating realism in games. If I wanted reality, I'd live. I want fiction, I want fantasy and so I play games.

Tales of Symphonia would be considered a RPG Pure, right? If it is, then that's my fav.

How long did it take my brother to defeat those characters using Yoshi? Two minutes.
I like to obsess over stuff. Here are all the things I'm obsessing over:
Song: Seize the Day by Default
Anime: D.Gray Man
Anime character(s): Kanda
Video Game: Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Video Game character: Wolf O-Donnell from Star Fox Assault
OC: Ray Eclrida, copyright of me (duh!)

I'm going to throw in my two cents on this matter--

Pure RPGs are something that I spend the most time on in my gaming endeavors, There is usually a beautiful (and often sad, depending on the games you like, I'm quite partial to Seiken Densetsu and Shin Megami Tensei myself..) story, the characters change and evolve throughout the entire game, and in the end, you probably never would have thought things turned out the way they did-- Uncertanty is something that I adore in RPGs, I love my games to lure me in, snuggle with me and make me feel content-- and then smack me in the face and rip out my intestines, and make me crave more of wonderful RPG abuse, and leave me in an unnerving state of mind until I FINALLY get to the end of the game-- Then restart to find all of the secrets.

If I could marry a genre, I would Marry this one and continue loving it with every fiber of my being.
