I hate this book called Catcher in the Rye. My teacher is making us read this piece of crap right now. The main character just goes on and on about stupid things that have no purpose. The only thing he seems to obsess about is sex, ducks, and alchohol. Thank God everytime we read the book I read Misery instead

Oi little children know not quality reading. . . But, seeing as this is more about personal preference than anything, I wont go into my English-Major induced rant.

Now, I absolutely love Irvine Welsh, but the worst book I've read is one of his. It's sad, I know, but I couldn't even finish reading Glue. I plan on working my way through it again later on, though. Everything else of his I read is awesome.

Brave New World by Aldous Huxley took me a long time to comprehend. I love the meaning(s) of it, though.

I absolutely refuse to read that book. My reasons are my own.

Only one good thing about Catcher in the Rye...they used a quote from it in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Something about wanting to be "one of those deaf-mutes."

Haha oh, so do I Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter, the Beatrix Potter stories; childrens books rock. That comment wasn't meant as an offense; it's just an expression I use. Sorry about that Smile.

Books that should die and burn... (D.F.'s hate list )

Dark Half By Steven King

Reason: I could not get through this book, it bored me to sleep. I didn't even get to the halfway make before putting it down and giving it back to the library.

The Giver By someone who I can't remember

Reason: It bored me too. I "had" to read it because one of my friends kept shoving me into the book, telling me "it's soo good" and the kid dies at the end. Yes people he dies, he was in a MEMORY and died. >>;

Goosebump Books (all of them) By R. L. Stine

Reason: They were not frickin' scary. I LIKE R. L. Stines OLD stuff better than the crap he is giving out now... >>;

(end of list..so far)

I have read many a book, but these.. :;shutter with an angry passion that could make me storm right up to the authors and smack them down to the ground...::

>>;

Most books by David Eddings. Someone should sit that guy down with a red pen and circle all his modern American slang, then explain why it is not appropriate in archaic fantasy. It's so obnoxious it isn't even funny.

They could also give him a thesaurus, some writing lessons and a proofreader while they're at it.

Or they could just break his fingers.

I don't have the patience to finish a book that I don't like but in English, I have read too many many books that bored the noodles out of me; examples:

Into the Wild
The Illustrator
Our Town (it's a play but it's in a novel form)
Scarlet Letter (the plot was interesting but too wordy =_=)
The Old Man at the Sea (or whatever the title was)
Of Mice and Men

There's more but I completely forgot the titles.

In English I had to read this book called Stained Glass. It was sooooooo boring, the author has this weird way of writing... there's hardly any dialouge or action, it's mostly decribing boring things, like the scar on his hand or the little old lady in the church.
*Yawn*

"Slaughterhouse 5" by Kurt Vonnegurt. (Hope I spelt that right.)

I could make out the whole time-jumping part, but none of seemed to come together or matter that much. The main character annoyed me as well, as did most of the people mentioned during the war scenes. Overall I just wasn't impressed.

Of Mice and Men

Dear Lord, that book was so boring! It was dull throughout the entire thing and I can't believe there are people out there who liked it. There was no action of any kind that made it appealing and the ending really sucked.

Wanted!

I'm not sure if there are many people who read this but it was stupid. The plot was lacking and the ending was pretty predictable. Could've been way better.

The Cradle Will Fall

I don't usually bad mouth Clark's works and there was never necessarily anything wrong with it plot-wise. I just didn't really enjoy it. There was way too many medical terminology and things I didn't understand.

That's about all I can think of for the time being.

Frankenstein, I absolutely HATED that book! I don't think I've ever hated a story so much!maybe it's b/c hollywood gave me such a different view of what the story and charys would be like. <_<

Wuthering Heights is horrid b/c you HATE every one of the charys(well not quite everyone...)!@@

Animal Farm*shudder*

Moby Dick.I don't hate it,it's just that it starts out as such a great story but then it suddenly gets really boring!

The Scarlet Pimpernel(spelling)!I LOVE tSP but I hate how many times the word "child" is used!

as for LotR!that's been my fave book for the last 9 yrs!^^ Laughing Very Happy Rolling eyes

The Black Middens

Ack! That was horrible. The typos practically killed me but the storyline was just going waaay too far...

Just Ella

I thought it was a sequel to Ella Enchanted, but it was actually a continuation of Cinderella! >< I have one thing to say about this book: *twitch*

Dandelion Wine

Maybe I'm too young to understand, but I despised this book. The plot was jumpy, it never started in the same place it ended and everything seemed to come out of a sci-fi movie or something...
