Silver's quite nice when the Newbies stay away. [i]Some[/i] Mods tend to attack newbies who are simply being themselves, often crazy, but at least following the rules.

It's a pity, but I tend to stay away from threads they post in. I'm afraid to be myself around them. Until now...

I'm not saying Silver's a bully, but she often lacks understanding. Silver should work to correct poeple rather than attacking them. I'll bet newbie's get terrible confused and hurt when she does.

Obviously, you haven't been around these forums much if, out of all her 6000 posts, you've only seen ones where she's chewing on an idiot.

Anyway.

While that might be true for you, it doesn't mean she's like that. Indeed, I made a mistake (which is actually explainable, btw, but it doesn't matter anymore) the first time I posted here, and she just told me not to do it again.

Perfectly civil about it, and I just followed what she said. We're on good terms (then again, I'm pretty much on good [if nonexistant] terms with everyone. o.o; ) now.

There's nothing wrong until the person in the wrong decides to argue back. :/

Also, just because one person is "hostile" to you doesn't mean you have to be hostile back to them. If someone starts yelling at me, I don't yell back. It's immature to complain about such petty things all the time.

And yeah, Genkai is right, and so is Silver. Now that she has the reputation for "bashing n00bs", it doesn't seem like the newer people can get past that, although it's not even true, for the most part.

(on topic: I love school. In fact, I don't ever want it to end. I get to meet and interact with people I would have never met otherwise there, and also... I don't want to grow up. Going to uni and getting a job is too much for me. :/ )

I didn't make a mistake though...she was scolding me for my correct use of grammar and punctuation (ironic coming from the "Grammar/Spelling Police" ...that's fairly pathetic.

I'll let it drop, but I'm not on good terms with silver and won't be making an effort to be so any time soon.

No-one who has been here longer than alot of us will start fights with other newer members for no reason.. I mean where did you get that from? When members be themselves and get stick they yusually are doing something wrong. Off-topicness, spamming, single-word replies, really bad typing.. all these are frustrating therefore have rules against them (okay not the typing one but damn you won't last long typing text message style..)

Every member who thinks Silver is a bully has less than 100 posts.. and even so.. So what if she even IS a bully.. She has been around more than any of us! Just so you know, that was just a label given to her by the mods. She didn't ask to be the "grammar/spelling police", and even with the title it's not like she even makes an effort up to that title except for when things get really bad, like IM speech.

Maybe...Maybe so...But should the site helpers get away with it? It's pretty easy to attack someone knowing they're to sheepish to attack back.....it's like...a sport.

I'm not one to never drop a subjuct, but when someone decides to tell me to "STFU" I tend to want to defend myself, rather than let people walk all over me.

I haven't met any site helpers who've attacked anyone. -.o; Anyway, they [b]don't[/b] "attack" because they know the person's too "sheepish" to fight back. It's not really attacking, it's just a simple reminder. In fact, since some people tend to drag the arguement on by responding rudely and not adhering to the rules, that's why some people need to be more forceful than they need to be.

No. People do not "walk all over you" unless you let them. Just because you choose to drop a subject and do what they ask of you doesn't mean you're letting them walk all over you. If you believe that dropping a subject is letting someone walk all over you, then you need to think a little more about what you're doing, because that's not true. -.o;

Funnily enough, the vast majority of forums are the same - not exactly the same people, but their personalities can be filed away similarly, and so yes, I would say I know enough about this place, coupled with my reading of previous posts, to make assumptions.

The only point I am making is that "silver" [i]is[/i] a bully, and I felt it should be brought to attention, rather than ignored. Were it a member with a lower post count, people would be much quicker to judge. Best example I can give of that being true is myself...I'm being judged because I can type coherently and dislike this internet persona tough guy routine.

You're doing through the way you speak to other members of the forum, whether unconsciously or not.

For example, you just [i]assumed[/i] that Silver was angry at your "affluent English". Assumption stems from the feeling of superiority; most people don't do it unless they feel that they're in the greater right. You believe that you're greater than Silver, and that's why you can assume such a thing, otherwise you wouldnn't have said such a thing. Which, by the way, you're wrong. I know Silver better than you do, and she doesn't operate like that. Please note that again, whether this is conscious or not is of no consequence; it doesn't change what you're saying and how people perceive it.

By the way, Silver just tried to stop this argument by having you drop it, yet you feel the need to continue attacking her. Having fun being a troll? Trollery isn't limited to just bad typing, you know.
