Well they shouldn't, because come March, the PSP is going to be the only handheld that matters...to adults and teenagers, alike.

Merely stating the facts, sweetheart.

I've seen the PSP in real life, because at the duty free shops at schiphol airport where I work they have imported consoles and games, and it's really, really small. I mean, really small, even for japanese hands. There is little to no room to hold it. And there are two big drawbacks to it: the screen is nice and all, but it gets scratched if you treat it like a portable device (putting it in a bag, or in your pocket). Believe me, that will happen. Also, they use some sort of mini dvd. Not the good medium for portable gaming. Loading times, when you play on the go? That's not well thought through I think, and it has moving parts, making it more vulnerable when it falls out of your hands for example. The battery life is about 6 hours, not 2,5 btw. But compared to the DS, with 12 or more, it's really bad.

Also, the DS will have a castlevania title, so it'll win for me. The games for the DS will also be less expensive, 30-40 euros or dollars instead of the usual 40-50 for the gba now, compared to the psp, that's a very big advantage. And we all seem to forget, the DS has a great lineup of gba games already at the launch. MGS can't compete with 2 final fantasies, 4 castlevanias and god knows how many mario and zelda games.

Graphics for a portable device are quite irrelevant, and the psp will be owned when the successor to the gba will be released at the end of the year, or sometime next year.

Smile We'll see. Lexar's points were very interesting, and quite true, I expect.

.....you ALWAYS take his side. Why don't you just admit that I'm right on this issue. I looked at the facts, and statistics never lie. They show the gaming population, and what they prefer. Majority of gamers are over the age of 19. I can't help but be right on this topic of discussion...believe me, it's what I do best.

No, you say things will happen like this and that, as if they were facts, but if it is yet to happen, it is not yet a fact.

What the heck? What FACTS are you looking at?
Opinion polls? Surveys filled out by people who knew nothing about the PSP except it was a portable playstation?

not comparing it to the DS, the PSP can't hold its own in the gaming world.
Now, comparing it to the DS which plays both DS featured games and the older models' as well, the graphics are pretty cool (have you seen the DS mario compared to the original Mario 64? )

T.T this kid is really starting to annoy me.... "No! I'm Right! You're wrong! I'm ALWAYS right! Wah! Wah! Wah!"

We can go back and forth, playing this childish game. Or we can visit sites that have people who specialize in this genre. IGN.com did a comparision of the two handhelds; very in depth. Long story short, PSP came out on top, in graphics, appeal, design, etc. I could go on and say the few that the DS won in comparision, but I tend to not acknowledge the loser. Nintendo has let us down too many times to be trusted once again.

biased is biased is biased.

I don't care about the geeky gamers who get paid by these companies for advertising reasons T.T
I care about the fact that it debuted in Japan, and was NOT positively rienforced.

And anything that comes from you should be taken with a grain of salt, to say the least.
College student or not, you've got the mindset of a 15 year old at best...

Nintendo sucks ass. Only reason I got the gamecube was for resident evil games. Other than that... that system stays in the f*ckn closet collecting dust. Anything nintendo releases is garbage.

A woman after my own heart. And that's why I love this girl.

It's all about the maturity level of the gamer. Obviously me and Lynda are more mature gamers, which is why we don't have too many games on gamecube. It's really a system for guys trying to cling on to that little shred of childhood.

Sony can do no wrong.

OMFG, you guys are so biased. Who cares what crowd the games attract to. What I'm more worried about is how fun the games are going to be. Yes, the PSP may have some games I might look into, but so far, the PSP is not appealing to me for obvious reasons.

Games are not about maturity. Who gives a s**t about the maturity of the games? Well, there are some who do care, and that's fine with me, but when you go and say, "Maturity makes the game better!" That's a bunch of bull. First off, I don't care. To me, "It's all about the fun." If the game is fun to play, then I enjoy it. It doesn't need to be mature to be enjoyable.

Second, who cares what gaming sites/magazines have to say? It's all about what you and me, and every other gamer's personal opinion. You like PSP, that's fine. Don't take your garbage and claim that it's going to be better than the DS, because that's personal opinion, and opinions don't make a fact. *sigh* Some people just don't know.

No need to get all upset over opinions. Have fun playing Mario and Yoshi! See how people get so defensive when it comes to nintendo systems?... Just admit you like sucky games, it's okay. Smile

So you're siding with an opinion like that, eh Esterman? <_<

I agree with Lexar (once again) and Raymei on the matter.

The intended target audience for a game does not necessarily dictate the quality of the game, nor vice versa. I have played many of these so-called "sucky" games -- you know, the ones targetted towards general and/or the younger audiences, and I can say from experience that many of them are well-designed (and damn it, they are FUN!) Some of them do suck, and I have played games that sucked on several levels, but it is unfair to dismiss the rest just because you're not open to the style and audience for which they're designed.

Sure, ask me to give examples. I can do that.

My opinion? I can't draw a line between Sony and Nintendo and place myself on either side of them. I have more PSX and PS2 games than I have for the N64 and GC, yet on the other hand I am more a fan of Nintendo's mascot characters than Sony's. Both have good and great games, and yes, both have games that suck.

Battery life is a big issue for handhelds, possibly the biggest. If you can't play a game for more than a few hours while on the go, if you have to plug into a charger at regular intervals, then the handheld isn't as portable as it could be. Depending on the rechargeable batteries/packs used, you MAY (or may not) be able to recharge the batteries while it's still powered on. Unfortunately, if you still have to recharge at regular intervals (relative to games built for 10-20+ hours gameplay), this still limits the places you can take it, and in a worst-case scenario essentially tethers you to the charger.

Durability is also a strong issue for handhelds. If it's going anywhere, then there are going to be mishaps down the road. Maybe not now, maybe not to you, but regardless of whether it's scratched, beat-up, tossed about, dropped, stuff happens.

I agree. I have a PS2 and I never play it! I don't like the games for PS2 because there's nothing unique about them. The games for Gamecube are different , such as Animal crossing, Mario Sunshine, Monkey ball. So what if you're not killing things or are the legendary hero type, the great thing is in how they differ from the cround.

Erm, Raymei's a girl (check out her avatar)

Basically, I'm okay with both. It's pretty easy to spot where they both mess up, though... Nintendo DS and the PSP look liked they weren't going to be big hits to me, but maybe other people may feel differently... (?!)
