Why is it that so many god damn stick figures of freakin inuyasha and hiei get some many comments, yet the decent stuff doesn't. In one case that it extremely annoys the hell out of me is for a drawing Sanoshi did for me. A rough sketch.

I was the only one to comment Grr! No one else. It isn't bad. It's nothing fancy and ultra detailed but my god, come on people! And what's even more annoying, is that not many people commented on LiYang's version of Matrona either. He got a few good ones but come on, anyone who's seen LiYang's work knows that man has talent. What's wrong with you people?

You break me heart yet i strangely yet understandably want to beat some people with a very large and dense stick, other known as a baseball bat *mutters*

Take pity upon these people. They're good, talented, nice, and they deserve more comments for crying out loud.

Because titles like "INUYASHA!" and categories of "anime/manga>inuyasha>inuyasha" are more attractive to drooling fangirls than, say, original characters or obscure categories. Sad Dunno how many people use the thumbnail display, but even then, fanart is fanart.

Blah. Similarly, that stupid "poke-orgy" thing I've left up as a joke still gets regular comments. It's all in the category and title. . . . .

I know what you mean. The most commented pic is one of the worst on the site. (No offence to whoever drew it, but come on! It's a Sonic sketch that must have taken all of 2 minutes!) Even my own gallery is like that. All my 3 year old Zim fanart pics get more comments than my more recent pixel art that I'm actually proud of. Since I haven't done much Zim fan art lately, I hardly get comments at all anymore. I'll get a message in my inbox about once a month that says "Fanart Central comment", and hoping its on something good in my gallery I'll realize that it's on a crappy drawing I did when I was 14. A few pieces of my newer art hasn't even gotten any comments at all. I thought about deleting my old stuff, but then my gallery would be ignored completely.

Its ok Lasher. I have learned to accept that because I don't draw "fanservice" for 14 year old girls, I will get next to no comments. Its alright. I am beyond caring at this point.

Exactly. Everytime I see I got a comment on something from the 7th grade, I decide that I'll delete the piece 'cause it's too old and I don't want that being all people see in my gallery, but then it's always some "omg so kool! Ozzy rules!" comment, and I leave it. . . . . Because I'm weak.

I guess getting rid of most of the more well known subjects could force people to see the better Taime, Izzy, Brent, whatever pictures... But I think it'd just mean fewer comments at all.

Bravo. It's much less depressing when you just don't care anymore. I can get 3 comments on DA from people whose opinions I care about, and that's fine. Even if it's just "neat!".

it's one of those things that just....gets ya....right here.

my guess is that it's because the majority of the site is made up of 14-year old sum girls who come here for comments.
SO, they comment on the bad drawings hoping that these people (who in most cases they think they're better than) will go to see this wonderfully kind person who gave their art comments and be wowed

Then the comments for them will follow (even though they are probably just as...um..."skilled" as the people they commented on)

It's a big manipulation game.

But that's just my guess.

It's seriously the fangirls fault. I say there should be a rule where it has to be obvious you actually spent some time on the darwing or else you don't get to post it.

Sure FAC has a lot of obsessed fangirls.

Don't like it? Do something about it. Invite more people of the type you like to FAC. Advertise fac in your sigs and such on other forums that are not made of of obsessed fangirls.

Its up to the community to make the site better. Do your part.

I know I do, I have a link to FAC in every one of my websites and I've recomended it to my friends. Still, I wish there was a way to get the fangirls to listen for once. Every time you try to talk to them, whatever you say goes in one ear and comes out the other. Grr, maybe you should make it so that the number of sumbmissions to a certain category (Inuyasha, Yu yu hakosho, etc) is limited, that way, the amount of pictures that fangirls draw will be limited. The only problem is it might limit the amount of good drawings by respectful artists...any suggestions?

o.o it was an answer to the question posed, not a complaint

:P and I *do* advertise. FAC's got a banner on both my pages and I brought some of my IRL friends to the site (*including* Jenni)

exactly. every other site Im on Ive pushed FAC and the 99dogs FAC merch, and these sites are not overrun by screaming little inuasha fans, thank God!

as for views and comments on work other than inuasha and sonic pictures, this site I guess will always have more on the popular than better more obscure stuff. just like you will tell two friends to tell two friends, the inuasha fans do the same...but theres more of them. as for my own stuff, it sure as hell isnt anime. I was happy to get a few comments and a few hundred views. now its down to no comments (with the exception on Dream of Fire) and mayby 1 view a day....if the pic is lucky. I give up on what gets views here, but Ill keep posting. latest will be a real walk from the norm for me...G&Rs fanart...probebly get 2 views!

The editor and I got in a ....pretty big fight. (basically he kept throwing last minute jobs to me because his "main artist" was being a loser and I wasn't getting paid to do them and he kept putting off my articles)

Laughing I don't get comments like that on my old work because it's not up here. You know what a real shame is though most of my art is orginal for the expection of a BB (beast boy of Teen Titans) and that picture has like fifty comments (exaggerating). It's rather funny I think.

I think the reason we have fan girls commenting on our older art is because they have it in their heads that they are going to whorship one or more Bishies (--Wink and that's the way it is.

But you also have to count in the Fan-guys. I bet there are more than enough of them crawling around looking at that half naked girl picture you have or maybe even some gay guys drooling over the bishies.

There are reasons why they are called... Fan... Maybe we should label them as OCBH. ^^; which stands for Obessive Complusive Bishie Hunters. Wink

I'm new to Fanart Central, so I can't really speak for here ^_^;. But I've found that most anime art galleries have this happen~. It IS super annoying when a insanely awesome original art is ignored for a 5-minute fanart sketch X_X;

Ooooh, you know what I do when I'm feeling ignored and unloved in my galleries, though? I go ahead and toss out a super-sparkly close-up-face-shot CG of some popular character XD XD. It'll get 10x more comments than my serious works, and is very fast and easy to do -_^. Then I can go about doing more of the serious and original stuffs~! ^__^

Aww, sorry to hear about that Genkai. Ouch WTF?

But yeah. I guess it just annoys me more when it comes to the original stuff. I do understand fully why other things are more popular of course. But damn. It just gets to me and now and then you just gotta rant right? And it annoys me more about others work than mine. I don't do to much original Uneasy I draw fanart of sorts, but make it my own by inserting my own little ideas and opinions like i do with the cartoons.

It really annoys me though i guess when it comes to the artist that work for me and have done drawings for me. It's just depressing when they get into drawing something for you because it's not some fanart InuYasha or Hiei bull, then they don't get any comments Sad It pisses me off! Grr!

Yeah, that's evil. Some incredible pictures are ignored because some people just don't like the character. An example fo this is Fayore's Krad.(I believe this is a very well drawn picture) And others are overflowing with comments just because he is a "bishie". <_<

Sad but, true.

I just noticed something. I haven't any fanart in my galleries - except for some sonic sketches on my personal webpage, and some DW sketches. Everything else is completely original or from an obsure game(Like My Jet Set Radio Sketch of DJ Professor K, Kinnison from Suikoden II, and SW: KOTOR). And I've noticed that practically all of the anime and game galleries are choc full of sonic and other fangirl created madness, and they get the most Comments. And artists like SeanHalnais dont get that many comments, and he's one of the Best on FAC!!!!! I just don't get it! You've got to get tired of seeing the same character over and over again....which I why I really dont draw fanart unless its for a crossover comic or something.....

PLEASE!!!! SUPPORT THE GOOD ARTISTS!

....I'm finished ranting now.

I know what you mean. I have virtually no straight fanart in my gallery either.

Not to say that most fanwork is bad, a lot of people have some good stuff, just look for more than your favorite character....like creatvity and orignality, look for thought and not obsession\fandom!
