Linkin park is really nothing special. I've listened to all of their CDs ('cuz my bro is an LP fanatic so on road trips I have to sit through an hour and a half of LP) and all I hear is repetitive God-awful depressing lyrics. Its all the same kind of "Life sucks. I hate myself. I wish I could die" crap that all the teens want to be like. If anything, they're just GC only not so p*ssy. <_< To quote Flea (or was it fallen who said this...?) "Life's tough. Get a f*ckin' helmet!" Someone needs to tell Chester that 'cuz I think all of us are getting a bit tired of the depressing angst music. C'mon! They're really rich, have all the women to screw to last them through their horniest years, and they managed to sell millions of CDs in the past two years. What the hell is there to be depressed and angry about?
But that is just my opinion of course. You can imagine Chester and Mike rocking your socks but really that image is just...ew. *Shudder* _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

It's a common saying. We've both said it. Only I'd throw "pussy" in there somewhere.
I got tired of explaining why they suck balls. A forum search for "linkin park" would yield my opinions...

But if you do like em', then AWSOME for everyone!! These guys have solely brigded the gap between rap and rock by infusing the two in a climatic CD that will soon make them legends; legends that our childrenand children's children will be reading about in History books.
That is one park that will ROCK your socks OFF!! So, what the hell are you waiting for?"

Actually, Aerosmith was the first rock band to mix rap with rock. In the 80s they did a hip hop version of Walk This Way with the rap group DMC. Linkin Park is just trying to bring the rock/rap hybrid back. Its a fad that keeps coming back but it dies down pretty quick as you will soon see. There's no new songs on that new CD of theirs anyway so its really just boring. Be more original, y'know? <_< But they need a better look than the "angsty depressed rocker."
they make their music relateable and stuff
Who the hell relates to thier morbidly depressing lyrics?! I can name only one person who I know who could relate to their lyrics and would have any reason to listen to them and she has told me multiple times that she doesn't want to listen to that to feel better. It doesn't help to hear how bad a situation is. Instead, people need to look on the brighter side of life and stop f*cking whining. If life sucks then you make it right your own way. Linkin Park is just giving the message "If life sucks then there's no point in going on." That isn't true. There's always options open for people, especially teens. Thats why the older rock groups are just better. They wrote about how to make life as bitchin' as possible and to think of life as one big party. I remember one guy, Flea, put all that I said in one sentence that speaks for itself...
Don't bitch about life, make life bitchin'.
So true.
Once again, this is just my opinion. Take it for what you will. Its not an insult at you. G'day to you. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

Eh, I like Linkin Park, but they like getting gradually, every-other worse. Yes I just made that up........
Hybrid Theory- their best
Reanimation- no thank you....
Meteora- good but not as good as Hybrid Theory
This new Jay-Z mix thing- horrible, horribly travasty....... <_<
They are white. White people from white neighborhoods cannot rap. Why they tried mixing rock and rap I don't know.......
He's got some lungs on him, though! He could be great, if they stopped doing crappy music. ^_^ |

White people from whit neighborhoods can't rap......well that's an ignorant statement, very much so.
Anyone can rap; it's not a cultural thing or a black thing. There are plenty of good rappers from ALL races and backgrounds. Linkin Park is no different; their rapping is very good. If it weren't, I don't think Jay-Z would team up with them and form an ULTRA album. That team up alone has placed them in the history books, as I stated before.

Ahahahahahahahaha! Know what, buddy? There are genuine history books about rock music. You can take numerous courses on it. But know what's in them? 75% is pre-Beatles. A tiny fraction is anything after Zeppelin. LP may get a footnote that no one reads, at best. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

LP fans have to toughen up sometime. I've spent most of my life having my favorites pissed on. You get used to it. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

*Nods* If anything, we're just the jaded 80s hair metal (or whatever metal you like) fans who've put up with a lot. LP fans will get used to it. Now if only the Good Charlotte fans would get used to it. About 99% of the time when you tell a GC fan that GC sucks they retaliate with the wonderfully witty "THEY DO NOT!!!" <_<
Oh geez, we pretty much crushed all of qtlilhunnibear's enthusiam
We don't mean this personally, we're just not fans.
I feel a little guilty now. I'm just not a fan. Hey, qtlilhunnibear, do yourself a humongous favor and get yourself an Aerosmith CD. Doesn't matter which one 'cuz its all gold but buy one and then come back here. Trust me, if you like rock then you'll love Aerosmith. They've really broke a lot of ground in rock history and Steve Tyler needs some lovin' despite his age. _________________ Vaccum cleaners may look fun, but are deadly sex toys. as are certain vegetables like, terri schiavo -Powtaz |

You might like Styx aswell. Hmm, I don't think I've ever seen Styx mentioned here.......
And Ester, it was a blunt comment. Never give me advice. Ever. Once you go turn yourself in for raping some girl you drugged and do your time to society I MIGHT consider you a human being. Otherwise, f**k off. <_<
Like I said, Linkin Park was good.......in the beginning. Now they're just trying too hard.
Don't get attached to sucky music or at least just be a closet fan if you don't want to get a reaction such as the ones on this. It just comes with the taste. |

No reason to be a closet fan. Shout it loud, shout it proud, but don't be a douchebag about it. Nothing worse than a blind fan of anything. "OMG Poison is teh best band evar!!!!" No, pookie, they suck ass. As much as I love them, I'll still tear them to shreds. All about being realistic.
And know what? When you can do that, people don't care what you like. If I meet a LP fan that can maturely talk about all their faults, I don't care what they listen to in the privacy of their own home. It's the fangirls (of any band, good ones included) that suck. _________________ "I care about people as much as I care about lawn furniture" - Dexter/Michael C. Hall |

I'm a fan of LP as well, but I think this topic was the wrong way to go about announcing your enthusiasm.
It's great you like them and stick up for it, but LP isn't all that loved here, and that's mainly for the fans they have. Sure, most people just didn't care for their music on their own, but LP's fans are known for their idiocy, and lack of a good arguement to back up their statements; basically, they act like gibbering morons.
Thankfully, I'm not as crazy-obsessed as I used to be, although I was never quite as stupid about how great they were as many LP fans. I just kind of... obsessed over their music, and for awhile, over the band members. I'm not really like that anymore, and I'd like to find all my comments about them that I made during the crazed-faze, and delete them. I'm mostly over it. They're still my favorite band though, and I still flipped out when I got an LP T-shirt for christmas.
I also know that Linkin Park's lyrics are widely seen as depressing, and that's the primary reason most people who dislike them, dislike them. As I said, the fan base doesn't help, nor does the fact that they're 'mainstream' now, apparantly. I honestl don't find the lyrics to be at all depressing, rather, they are inspiring (art wise) and I listen to them often. I can see how they could easily be interpreted as depressing, but when I listen to it, I feel uplifted a bit - energetic, or ready to draw. Personal taste, that's all it is.
 Wow, I talk too much when I'm interested in the subject. I guess the summary of my little rant is: it wasn't your best move, putting up a topic for linkin park in the mannor that you did. I think I already said this, but it's not that popular. No offence intended, and I don't mean to be rough or harsh, I'm just speaking my mind. Too much. Sorry about that. Okay, titleing the topic 'linkin park!' wasn't the best. Take the exclamation point off and there ya go.
So sorry for the long post everyone, you should probably just skip it. Too late now, huh. Sozzy. |
